NOT PET FRIENDLY - WILL NOT REIMBURSE PET EXPENSES

**I am updating my review. After posting my Feb. 24, 2025 review on Trust Pilot U.S., World Nomads replied on Feb. 25: Hi Denise, we're sorry to hear you weren't happy with your cover. I have passed on your comments to the relevant team, and someone will be in touch soon to discuss your feedback. Safe travels - Belle ✈️ World Nomads. And on Feb. 27 to my review on Trust Pilot ES: Thanks for reaching out, Denise! I see you've already been in touch with us about your experience, and we've shared your feedback with the right team. If you haven’t heard from them yet, you should soon! 😊 - Sarah ✈️ World Nomads

It has been 3 weeks since their promises to "be in touch soon," however, I have not received ANY communication from World Nomads on the matter whatsoever. Their replies are just a sham effort to make people reading my reviews think that World Nomads cares and wants to resolve my issue when they obviously don't. Their failure to follow up in a timely manner is yet another example of the terrible customer service you will receive from World Nomads. My original review is below:

I am an animal rescuer and was flying several rescue animals from Costa Rica to Spain. Unfortunately, Aeromexico gave me incorrect information which caused me to miss my connecting flight in Mexico City. As a result, Aeromexico paid for a hotel room, but I had to pay the mandatory pet deposit.

There was no place to board the animals that night, and the new flight time was approximately 17 hours later, so I could not simply leave them in their kennels for that long. Therefore, I had no choice but to do the humane thing and pay the deposit in order to use the hotel room.

I purchased the more expensive Explorer Plan with World Nomads specifically in case of such an event. However, its claims department denied reimbursement of my pet deposit fee, which was required to obtain the room, stating that World Nomads only covers the cost of the room itself; it would not cover any expenses associated with the booking which is completely absurd.

I am saddened that World Nomads has turned out to be unreliable and unreputable. The pet deposit fee was part and parcel of obtaining the room for myself and the animals I was transporting. It was not as if I was trying to recover room service or mini-bar fees.

DO NOT PURCHASE WORLD NOMADS' INSURANCE IF TRAVELING WITH PETS because it will NOT cover expenses associated with them. I would also discourage anyone who is an animal lover from supporting such a heartless company - purchase from a pet-friendly travel insurance company instead.

**In full disclosure - I am writing this review on every Trustpilot page that I can find because everyone should be warned.

Really horrible experience

Really horrible experience. They ask for loads of letters and then turn around and say that you can ONLY claim if you went to the ER, even though I had several letters and documentation from hospitals and doctors.

DO NOT buy travel insurance from this…

DO NOT buy travel insurance from this company as NO claims will go through. I absolutely regretted trusting WORLD NOMAD, as it redirect our policies to AXA. It is basically a scam. I had a travel cancellation in June 2022 this year, I got put on hold and got assigned to an AXA agent in Aug 2022. After was assigned to agent named Shankar, it went all silent. I tried to reach them multiple times in August, September and till now October 2022, there is no reply.

I called in their presumably functioning hotline, I extremely upset with the outcome, as there was nothing they can do! No follow up emails, no claim status report. No agent I can be reassigned to. Not even sure if anyone is attending to my claim request.
Why did I even trust the online reviewing site, I wish that I know about trustpilot a lot earlier so that I will not suffer from this no-follow up scam.

Extremely upset with this, if World Nomad ever see this, please have the courtesy of replying and not leave anyone hanging.

Easy and professional to claim with

I recently made a claim for lost luggage and World Nomads paid me within 2-weeks. The process was really easy. I have had alot of issues with travel insurance companies in the past and World Nomads have always been easy and professional to claim through.

I have canceled the policy within the…

I have canceled the policy within the 14 day period, but I haven't received an email back confirming that I will receive a refund.

UPDATE: I contacted World nomads and they replied the day after, confirming that the policy has been canceled and that I will receive the refund between 2-5 working days.

Contact the Financial Ombudsman - They will uphold your claim

Hi Guys,

So my complaint is shown below. Just an update I have contacted the Financial Ombudsman who have upheld my claim. For other claimants out there please persist! The delaying/frustrating tactic is fantastically played my 'World Nomads' and I would imagine most people simple give up.

However please do contact the Financial Ombudsman Service as they make short thrift of the World Nomad excuses and will have your back if your claim is valid.

Good luck everyone!

Modern con-artists at work…
Comfortably the worst customer experience I have ever had. Ignored me for 2 months and then placed ever obstacle imaginable in the way of my claim. It got to the point it was almost laughable.

As I found out the hard the way the money you spend on their 'insurance' will buy you nothing but frustration and anger. They have no intention of paying you back for any loss you incur. My case is now with the Ombudsman and I have written to the business secretary regarding their practices. Apparently I am not the only one who has contacted him so hopefully they will be banned from scamming soon.
