Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the subscription model, reporting unexpected charges and difficulty canceling. Customers also found the application intrusive, with some raising concerns about its installation process and its impact on computer settings. The payment process was a significant source of frustration, with numerous complaints about billing discrepancies, immediate billing despite free trial offers, and issues with refunds. Some people were dissatisfied with the user experience, finding the software slow, complicated, and not always compatible with other office programs. Reviewers also mentioned problems with the product itself, such as corrupted files, read-only access without payment, and difficulties with formatting. Conversely, a small portion of people felt the product offered good features, excellent compatibility with MS Office files, a useful template library, and reliable performance.

Con-Artists

Much like many people here, I was also conned with the hidden charges and refused a refund. Their CS say it's their policy to not offer refunds - something illegal here in the UK and I'll be taking it to court.

When I attempted to use this product my card details kept showing that there was an issue so I did not use WPS. Now I am being charged and no longer require this. Over £75 for a product I did not use or realised I had a subscription for.

Signed on for 1 year regular version @ $71.99 and 3 days later was charged additional $94.99 for Pro version. DID NOT AGREE TO.

Its a scam trap

Its a scam trap. They will force you to subscribe, then you will be not able to cancel it and they will not anywhere you. If you will not pay enough attention you will get even more 3-d party uncanceleble subscriptions.

Absolutely disgusting

Absolutely disgusting. When I purchased this product, I was under the impression that I was paying $139.98 for the 12-month subscription, and I would never have purchased this had I known I would have to pay $81.99 every three months for something I have never used. This was not clearly explained when I purchased the subscription. Contacted them regarding this charge and was told they do not give refunds and basically it was bad luck. I will also never purchase anything from this company again and will ensure friends and colleagues do the same. Complete rip off. Avoid at all costs.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. After having used the software for a year or so, I found my documents locked without warning along with a demand that I pay for a subscription. "Fair enough," I thought, "it's a decent product so I'm happy to pay for a few months' usage." More fool me. They also signed me up - without my knowledge - to a free trial for some crappy AI software that cost me £46 after three days. And could I get that refunded? No chance. It's "their policy" not to do so, apparently. Take my word for it - they're untrustworthy as hell. Don't have anything to do with these scumbags.

Free no longer

As another reviewer has noted, I have used WPS free office for years and as of today, Dec 8, 2025, all my files and spreadsheets open as 'read-only' with a message that I need to upgrade to $$ per month to retain the editing features which are still advertised as free. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app; still won't let me edit new or old files.

Horrid

If I could, I'd give it 0. Hard to use. Doesn't work well with excel as when I save as their format it says 'not compatible' Tries to force one to use the their cloud. Can't use much of anything. Purchased it because Office was more expensive and I am retired. Wasted a lot of money and constant 'add this for that'.

The program is a great Word clone but lousy business practice

The program is a great Word clone. I've used it free for years. However, without any warning, this morning I found that all my current files are read only and I was hamstrung into purchasing the product. I do not do business this way, but because I have an international business and had several projects in progress with deadlines, I was forced to purchase the product or lose weeks of work. Horrible business practices!

switch and bait

switch and bait! I was looking at a 2yr $39.98 deal and they charged for a much more expensive offer (2x the price with auto renewals - which I did not sign up for!). Within 10 min I cancelled subscription and now have been fighting to get credit issued. \buyer beware - dont buy WPS products. No C/S phone only email and no response.

Two year AI subscription charged without my knowledge

I decided to take a two year subscription to WPS Pro. However I find that I have been charged also for an AI option. I have no recollection of seeking this option , as I already subscribe to another AI provider. I have tried to contact WPS support regarding a refund. I completed as far as I could see, all of the elements of the page. However when I pressed the send button, nothing happened . I tried several times and then gave up in frustration. My experience is v poor in these early days . G.R.Szary

WPS Office is like a virus

WPS Office is a virus! I disabled autorun, but it still starts. It reconfigured the "default file" startup settings to suit its own needs, and when I change them back, it still reconfigures them for its own purposes. I disabled WPS services in Task Scheduler, but it still launches them, launches in the system tray, and shows you a banner about sale right on your desktop! I'm so sick of it. WPS Office made me buy Microsoft Office. .

Terrible User Experience

If I sum up my 3 years of my experience using this software: Terrible. I'm only using it because it's installed on my work computer. But I am fed up with it. I'd rather use the original software suite from Microsoft or others. This software is extremely annoying. For example:

1) Every time you save a document, it ask you to upgrade
2) If you want to merge PDF, it only tell you the free account limitation when you attempt to merge files (max up to 5)
3) If you want to swich page location, it lets you switch it first and when you attempt to save it, it says it's a paid account feature (in apple it's already free)

And I have many similar frustrating experiences. Their word document doesn't format well, sometimes I have to copy the text to google docs and copy back to WPS to achieve a better looking format. They will have a long way to go if they want to achieve a better software experience.

This company looks like a scam

This company looks like a scam! They lure you into paying for their services by stating the price for one month, but the cost turns out to be 12 times higher because they charge the annual fee from your card without your consent! They don't refund your money.
