Great for writers in any stage of your career
I really enjoyed my weekend with the writer's retreat. Writing can be a fairly solitary activity, so having a group around to chat with when the mind needed a rest from creating made a pleasant change. The other authors had a wide variety of experiences and specific interest which made for lively mealtime discussions swapping writing and marketing tips. But it was not all socializing. I wrote approximately a third of my second novel over the course of the weekend.
Retreat in Gilcrux, The Lake District
Jan and Ann are a lovely, welcoming pair who basically do everything during the retreat except write your book for you. The food is hearty and homecooked, catering to everyone's dietary requirements. There is space and peace to write but with regular things to look forward to, like scones with cream and jam. You get a goody bag any writer will love on arrival and by the time you leave, you've made a bunch of new friends. I definitely recommend going on one of their retreats (and I've been twice). They've also set up a website with writing resources and a free subscription for all retreat attendees.
