Good support service.

I was gifted a wunschgutschein.de voucher for €25 for Christmas. The voucher is intended to be redeemable for tons of different vendors. Several days ago I tried using it to order some food. I still have not been able to, but we will get to that.

The first experience when you check the gift card for the code is that it is actually not included on the card itself. It is printed on the back of the packaging in the hopes that people only keep the card and throw out the container, losing access to the voucher redemption.

When you go to their website and type in the code for redemption, you are first greeted by countless options for vouchers and giftcards - which are not actually part of the redemption, but attempts to refer you to other services. The layout is very deceptive, and most links that sound like they would lead you to your actual voucher lead to just more "optional" content. You find your way out of this menu through a small X in the corner.

After selecting your intended vendor, you are asked to input your full name and email address. This voucher is already paid for, there should be no need for them to collect this information (other than to harvest/sell your data of course)

After begrudgingly entering information there, the site told me that it was going to send out my code (and already warned me that it might take a while)

After sitting there quite hungry for about 15 minutes waiting for the code to arrive so I could order food with it, I turned to google for other people having this issue. What i found was countless scathing reviews and piles of issues with the site, with people having to wait days or never receiving their codes at all. It really seems like wunschgutschein.de is trying their hardest to get people to not actually redeem their vouchers.

I also found a section on their site to try and resend the code if you did not receive it.

There I input my code and was greeted by an error message (Error code STDx2, please contact support)

Trying to contact support through the phone is useless, it is impossible to reach a human, and their automated system just tells you to try resending the code, which it wasn't letting me.

I then used their ticket system. After a day I got the response to my email to please use their site for resending the code.

After trying it again that day, the error code had vanished, but I was still not receiving my code. Several hours and attempts later, i read the email again, and it also said that it may be an issue with me having provided the wrong email, and to please use their contact form. (I definitely did not provide the wrong email. They did force you to type the email form field by hand instead of allowing auto fill or copy paste in the hopes you would make a typo, but i triple checked it when i put in my info. And I was receiving the ticket response mails as well, after all)

I still thought this contact form may be a new way to actually get the issue resolved, so i tried accessing it.

The contact form leads to a completely blank and white page. I tried opening it with different browsers and on my phone with the same result. What kind of scam is this??

I opened another ticket outlining all of this and have not heard back from them yet.

Never ever buy these codes. It is deceptive, predatory, and at worst you could argue that it is a straight up scam. If you gift someone a voucher from wunschgutschein, chances are high you are gifting them a miserable experience. Get a different voucher, or just gift them cash instead.

When calling, several options for support are spoken. Every single option even remotely relevant for this situation just results in an audio message telling me to use online services though. "7" may connect you to actual human support, but it tells you that that is the number to press regarding problems when making purchases in their online store.

Despite being not the relevant department, I attempted to call it anyway. After sitting in queue for half an hour my call got abruptly cut because at that point it was past their operating hours. I suppose I will now try the email that they have provided me.

EDIT 2 (a day later): They responded, it appears that they didn't send me the code because they had my email provider blocked. I will try again when i want to order food again, hopefully it works then.

EDIT 3 (a few days later): I just now wanted to order food using the voucher again, but now Lieferando is no longer an option when trying to redeem it despite still being featured prominently on the promotional material on their site.

EDIT 4 (2 days later): Lieferando has appeared on their site again. After redeeming the voucher, it took 22 minutes to get the email. That email redirects back to their site, where you are greeted once again by big gambling ad popups you have to click through first. After all that, finally.

Worst customer experience and customer service. Vouchers were not redeemable for over 5 days after buying them. Multiple emails to customer service, without any replies.

I'm giving 3 stars because I have very mixed feelings about Wunschgutschein. On the plus side, they are heavily promoted, and it's a great way to collect Payback points. However, there are quite a few catches.

First, your capital is tied up, and depending on the type of voucher (gas, beauty, or universal), your choices for redeeming it can be quite limited. What bothers me the most is how aggressively they push you to deposit your vouchers into their "Shopping Guthaben Konto" (shopping credit account). They claim it's more practical, but once you do, you lose your anonymity. On top of that, due to anti-money laundering regulations, you are suddenly hit with a daily redemption limit of €300 to €500.

Another downside is that the vouchers aren't issued in real-time; it usually takes a good hour until you actually receive them.

Bottom line: Good for point hunters, but be prepared for annoying restrictions and waiting times.

The wish vouchers were not sent until I contacted customer support after more than a month.

Wunschgutschein is a fantastic way to surprise someone, because the redemption options are incredibly versatile — both online and in many local stores and department shops. You really can’t go wrong with it. The voucher is available digitally via email in the online shop, or as a small printed gift card with a matching envelope sent by post. You can even buy it directly at the checkout in many stores. Simply great.

I bought 500€ worth of voucher on the 29th of december as pdf via Payback (10 times coupon). The money was withdrawn immediately.

Today, January 20, I have received neither vouchers nor Payback points.

After several days of sending emails to “Support,” I only receive standard emails saying that they are overwhelmed. No wonder, when even more people are waiting for their vouchers.

Update:
After writing here and writing a mail to a different mail address, I finally received my money back. +1 Star for that.
This was still the last time I ordered a voucher directly from here.

Super fast and reliable

Worst place to buy a gift voucher. After purchasing, you are left alone to figure out how to redeem it yourself. If any error occurs, you are expected to fix the problem on your own. There is no clear customer support phone number and no real help available. On top of that, the waiting time is extremely long and communication is very poor. One of the worst websites I have ever used.
