I came into the store in search for a new camera and was very successful! I was provided with very attentive and patient customer service. I finally settled on a canon r100 with 18-45mm lens, no pushy... See more

Fantastic Shop
Fantastic Shop, I have visited this Aladdin's Cave of Leica Perfection. The staff are brilliant, really helpful. If you love photography and you love all things cameras this place is the world of Leica. I purchased a superb LEICA SUMMICRON 50mm f/2 lens. The lens was sent to me when promised and at a very competitive price!! The company went out their way to ensure I got the product I wanted and in quick time frame.......Just can't praise them enough. When you shop here you feel as if YOU are the only person who matters to them at that point, a very personal, professional service!!!
I was scammed by this company
I was scammed by this company. Was sold gray market lens and camera for regular price -meaning no warranty for the products but was told prior to sale that products had US warranty. After I made purchase I tried to register products and was told by manufacturers they couldn’t honor warranty because the company is not an authorized dealer for products. These people are pigs.
Worst client service !
Worst client service !! Never buy there again.
I was mislead when buying a lens through the website and was overcharged $300 more !!
Great service
Great service, 100% recommended
I recently purchased a EOS-1D X Mark II from 42nd Street Photo and found the staff to be very helpful, I had not checked stock levels and had ordered an item that was out of stock. I had a prompt message explaining that there was a bit of a wait on stock, I was offered a few options on how I could proceed and chose to get a slightly better better deal on a bundle with CFexpress Card & Reader Bundle.
All items turned up the next day, no issues at all, all items in perfect condition.
The staff are very helpful and are always happy to offer advice and I look forward to my next purchase from 42nd Photo as I know I will get a top notch service.
I just wish I could order high-quality images from 42nd Photo
They sell used as new.
Ordered a new "import" lens, received a used lens. "Passed" sticker was missing but I could tell where it used to be and there were tell-tale signs of wear in various places on the lens and lens bracket and some paint or sharpie action used on those wear areas.
I knowingly purchased an "import" lens, but I suspect they took a demo lens, or floor model, repackaged it in a generic box with a generic label, and sold it to me as a new "import" model. There's no documentation in the box, no manufacturer information, nothing.
No exchange was offered when I called them.
Absolutely horrendous customer service
Called them to make sure the lens I want (a $10k Canon 600/4 II) is available. The sales person was extremely rude and said "he doesn't have time" to deal with me, and I should just place an order and wait and pray. What a joke :)

Fujifilm GFX 50S.
I'm one of those who used Fuji gfx series from the flagship 50s. I worked with the Department of Justice especially forensic photography for homicide scenes, hit & run cases and other types of documentary evidence. After I retired five years ago and extinction of film, my goal was to find the ultimate best image quality for urban photography, skyscrapers and landscapes. 42nd Photo is a reliable source since the 80's for photography. They had the GFX50S I done research on. Staff is helpful but not intrusive. Image quality is supreme, the high-ISO capabilities and shadow recovery are excellent. The Fujifilm GF lenses for this camera are razor sharp corner-to-corner, This is the best of color sharpnes easy to use just i love it. The size of the body is really nice and small. It's smaller than Canon full-frame bodies. Fuji's GFX 50S is the most stunning announcement for the pro/pro-consumer photo/film users.
The staff is knowledgeable and friendly…
The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and they are happy to teach you. They cater to all kinds of photographers from amateurs to fun people like me ask the way to the experts. If you don't feel like photography or videography they have an astrophotography selection as well. They never made me feel unwelcome for being a novice which I really appreciate. If you want to shoot but don't have your own DSLR it can get a little pricey. An hour in the store, with one camera rental, and two packs of film was about $80. Don't get me wrong though because it's totally worth it. If you want to become a regular though you might be more interested in buying your own equipment in the end. Little advice for first time rental clients. Time is key so follow the rules. Also yes you are holding an expensive device so treat it with respect. The first time can be a little intimidating but once you for your first few rounds it's a lot of fun.

I have purchased so far two mirrorless cameras "Panasonic Lumix GX80/GX85 and Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III, from 42nd Street Photo. Friendly staff, a great selection of the not-easy-to-find SLR lenses and third-party versions.
For me, what keeps me coming back is fair pricing and the personalized attention. Nice clean atmosphere and ran by people that know their product and can answer your questions. Has free parking. Not too many accessories and tripods supports yet but they have all of the main components you need and then some.
Would recommend to friends without question.
Best Video Conferencing Unit during…
Best Video Conferencing Unit during Pandemic
I purchased HDWC-WA10 Full HD Webcam this because my computer's webcam was poorly designed. There are basically no video conferencing solutions available so I just purchased this with no regard of how it would perform. Very satisfied, especial because it has a mic in it so it is all in one...! Makes zooming so much easier. I don't have a lot of experience with webcams. It took me a bit to get the settings right for zoom and Local Network Teams, but once I figured those out, all is great. Wow - this was easy to set up and use for a meeting. Great field of view and also nice short focal distance for close ups when required. Mounts to a tripod and worked great with corporate meetings.
Outdated Website; Rude Employees; No Answered Calls
I ordered a camera from these people 8 days ago. I've checked every day and the order says "processing." So then, I get an automated e-mail asking me if I got my equipment. (How can I when I was never given a tracking number???) So I call the 888 number on their website. No one answers at ANY of the options except for the actual store in NYC. (I suppose the other two lines or for internet/international orders and whatnot.) I get transferred around 3 times - interrupted non-stop with the rude New York attitudes - and then finally a guy tells me the camera has been discontinued and offers me a more expensive camera, but not for the same price.
Why on earth do they have discontinued equipment on their website??? If they do, why not offer to make it right??? The camera that they were going to replace it with was only $100 difference. That - combined with the fact that I had to CALL IN to find out my order WAS NEVER COMING TO ME is enough to give me that credit.
Dude then goes on to tell me (of course, via interruption) that my cc was never charged. I have no way to know this because I took out a one-time Affirm loan and they in turn gave me a one-time-use cc that was active for 24 hours. I don't know if the thing has been used or not - so now I have to call Affirm, see if the card has been charged, get the transaction reversed if it has been and ALL THIS because these people have an outdated website that they refuse to update or shut up long enough to allow the customer to get the whole story out. There was no apology or anything. I could either spend more money or *click* the conversation is over.
I should've known better. These guys were selling the camera BRAND NEW for a few bucks less than someone selling it USED. I read the reviews on these folks before I purchased and got rave reviews, but clearly these people are fakes because the only thing they do fast is place your order and charge you and give you an order number. After that, it's up to you to contact them and find out what the issue is. ONE E-MAIL could've fixed this.

I read a couple of reviews suggesting this place might be a bit unreliable- far from it! They are absolutely superb. I was looking for specific Bushnell binoculars, and on comparison sites this company came up almost half cheap. I was even considering getting these in Europe (i have family there, and travel over frequently), but the price offered by these guys there was simply no point. I know it's only one transaction, but it was so good (literally 'next day' delivery) i thought it only right to give them my thoughts.
I was very satisfied with this company
I was very satisfied with this company, because despite the fact that only young specialists are working here, they are doing a good job, they can give you quality advice and advise you which model will meet your expectations and your wishes. Everything is cool!
I can only recommend 42nd Street Photo
I can only recommend 42nd Street Photo
in NY!!! I borrowed a camera and equipment and was very, very satisfied. First a big thank you to the super friendly team and the good service! Such nice and helpful customer advisors are rarely found in New York. In addition, 42nd Street Photo has a very large selection of cameras, lenses and accessories that were all in top condition. I will definitely continue to use them and I'm looking forward to try out the next equipment.
A dream shop for any analog…
A dream shop for any analog photographer. Has all sorts of equipment that you need for your analog photography. From high grade paper to development kits and chemicals. Has a great selection of films available too. The second hand cameras though are a bit on the expensive side but their quality is impeccable.
Must-recommend-place.
42nd Photo provides the amateur…
42nd Photo provides the amateur astronomer with apochromatic refractors, high -quality binoculars and accessories. I ordered a Meade LX200 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain in the midst of the Corona crises.
Alex was detailed in planetary viewing optics. My Meade boasts great wide-field high contrast images for the intermediate observer or astrophotographer. It is perfect for viewing or photographing the moon, planets and even deep-sky objects.

I bought an emergency tripod from here which unfortunately broke on the day of purchase and was given a full refund at the desk. Excellent, helpful and friendly service. Thank you
Cheated
They sold me a nikon d810 and slapped on a 299.00 BS warrranty without telling me. The first clue was there was no receipt in the box. I think these people are con men. Then if you have any kind of problem with your GREY market camera you are screwed. Trust me you will be much better off looking somewhere elese. I think they wrote most of the good reviews!!
Bad warranties, lie about equipment
In April, 2018, I leased a camera and lens from 42nd St Photo. The camera was leased as a demo. When it arrived, I found that it had a few thousand shutter clicks, and it had someone's name set up in the camera, so that person's name was embedded into my photos. A demo should not have this. If it was there, why didn't someone check this, and clear it out? Also, the camera sensor came in dirty, and my professional camera cleaner, told me it looks like someone had cleaned it with improper materials, and left pieces, which causes me to have to clean it every few months, at the cost of $70 a sensor cleaning. I have been dealing with that. The icing is, they sold a warranty, to cover accidental damage to the lens, and also for the camera. I had a problem recently with the lens. I contacted CPS Central, the warranty company. They are not honoring the warranty without an invoice, even though I emailed a copy of my lease agreement. So, they sell useless warranties. Buyers Beware!
