Very disappointing experience with this…

Very disappointing experience with this company. My warranty claim was unfairly rejected despite clear evidence of a fault, and I received inconsistent and confusing explanations throughout the process. The issue was resolved after replacing the part, yet they still refused to take responsibility. Customer service was poor, and I felt they were looking for reasons to deny the claim rather than help.

It is not surprising that your rating is only 3 stars. Based on my experience, I strongly advise others not to use this company, as it is a waste of money.

Dear Aym,
The issue is there is no clear evidence, we was told the water pump was seized, but the belt that the water pump runs on was fully intact.
We asked for a video that showed the seized part but the video showed the water pump turning freely.
upon asking what the actual issue is as none of the evidence adds up we were then told it is a water leak.
upon looking at the water pump the seal is fully intact and no coolant staining or water marks.
As the issue has changed multiple times we said we are confused as to what has actually gone wrong.
You then asked if your name and race came in to this. We find this absolutely disgusting to even suggest such a thing!

The rating is 3* because people like yourself only leave bad reviews and if the claim had of been paid you don't leave good one... we pay over 90% of claims.

Scam Extremely frustrated and disappointed…

Extremely frustrated and disappointed regarding my recent experience with my claim for the window regulator repair.

I had submitted a claim amounting to 350 and, despite following the guidance provided on the phone by the representatives, my claim was ultimately refused only because I didn't take their authorisation.

During two phone conversations, I was explicitly advised not to go to the main dealer and to seek cheaper local garage instead. for my expensive porsche, assuring me that the costs would be covered only if I find cheap labour. After extensive research, I had the repair completed at a local garage, which turned out to be an additional effort and concern on my part.

Despite sending all relevant invoices and receipts, I was informed that the claim could not be reimbursed. This whole experience has left me feeling scammed and frustrated.

Just to make everyone aware this is a scam.

Dear Salman,
The claim was declined as the work was done without approval. We did give you our claims procedure, it is also written in your booklet multiple times and on our website.

What is also very concerning, after having this work done without approval you have also emailed in saying it has not cured the issue.
This is exactly why we need to be involved.

When we are involved our claims pay out rate is over 90%.

Terrible experience. Will not pay claims.

My experience of A1 has been terrible. It was sold to me as a monthly warrenty to cover my car that I purchased from Phantom Motor Company. I had a warning light come on my dash so raised it with A1. They told me to take it to a local mechanic as they didn't want to meet the costs of the dealer. After making many calls nobody would deal with them but A1 managed to convince a local garage to take my car as long as I paid. The issue couldn't be dealt with by the garage though so this was extra costs which I lost due to A1 not covering diagnosis checks. I then had to take it to the dealer a few weeks later and the problem was diagnosed as a sensor issue and was fixed. I sent the claim back to A1 and they kept asking for more and more information, delaying the claim until it seemed I had satisfied their requirements. Again there was a diagnostics cost which A1 would not meet. The service was so poor I cancelled my DD as my experience was just awful. Over a week later they emailed saying that they were not covering the costs due to me cancelling the DD. I explained this was post the claim date so they had no right as it was a live claim. I will obviously be taking this to the ombudsman and then legal if I need to but beware.

Dear Graham,
Your review is slightly misleading.
You called on 22.01.26 with the EML saying you cannot find any garages so we advised you of 3 locally, you stated that 2 of them were further away then what you wanted to travel, one of them was less than a mile away so you went there.
We advise of a local independent as the warranty is capped at £65+vat per hour and your local BMW dealer is £200+VAT per hour and we don't like to leave customers with a large hourly labour rate to make up.
They diagnosed the issue as a DPF issue, we advised we don't cover the DPF on your cover.
At this point it appears that you cancelled the warranty payment.
You then took the vehicle to BMW who stated it needed the brake pads changing and a sensor.
We couldn't help as you had already cancelled the warranty.
The warranty wasn't a rolling month to month cover but a fixed term cover, by canceling the payment you cancelled the cover.

AVOID! Waste of money!

AVOID! Unfortunately I am the latest victim to have a used car warranty which isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

My car suffered an electronic handbrake fault so I was advised by A1 Approved to book it in at a garage and pay for diagnostics as these aren’t covered. I did exactly that and the fault was found to be a damaged wiring harness. After providing photographic evidence and a quote to fix the fault… the claim was rejected. Surprise surprise! Apparently “wiring” as an entirety is excluded. I have EV warranty with A1 so the majority of my car is electrical. I therefore have to question, what actually is covered as it’s certainly not worth the price of the warranty.

Do yourself a favour… save your money and avoid these SCAMMERS

Outstanding Service from Richard – A True Credit to A1 Warranty

I’ve been with A1 Warranty for 29 months, and during that time I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with Richard in the Claims Department on a few occasions when I’ve needed assistance with my vehicle.
Every single time, Richard has been incredibly reassuring, positive, and professional. He speaks like a proper human being — not scripted or robotic — and really knows his stuff. It makes such a difference when you’re dealing with vehicle issues to have someone knowledgeable and genuinely helpful on the other end of the phone.
Today, I called to cancel my payments as I’ve sold the vehicle, and I happened to get Richard again. I thanked him personally over the phone, but I truly feel he deserves further recognition. He is an absolute credit to A1 Warranty and sets the standard for excellent customer service.
Thank you, Richard — outstanding service throughout

I purchased my car from Phantom

I purchased my car from Phantom, and initially, the buying process was smooth and professional. I trusted the company and felt confident in my purchase.

However, I am extremely disappointed with the warranty provider nominated by the dealership, A1 Approved Limited. I purchased the Gold Warranty for peace of mind, expecting proper support if any mechanical issues occurred.

Unfortunately, when my car developed a genuine problem, the claims process became very frustrating. I was repeatedly asked for photos, videos, and additional evidence multiple times. Each time documents were provided, more information was requested. Eventually, the claim was refused.

This experience has left me feeling very disappointed and misled. I paid for a Gold level service expecting protection, but instead, it feels like the warranty company looks for reasons to reject claims rather than support customers. It is extremely upsetting to pay for coverage and then not receive the help promised when you actually need it.

I hope Phantom carefully reviews the warranty companies they nominate, as this directly affects customer trust and satisfaction

Dear Ayman,
We understand your frustration however we feel your frustration has been aimed at the wrong companies, as you have agreed yourself your chosen repair has contradicted themselves.
They state the water pump has seized up, We however asked for a video that shows it moving and not seized. As you can appreciate we need to know what the actual issue is to submit a claim for you.

The person on the phone argued with me…

The person on the phone argued with me about why my car wasn't covered for consumable parts that are required to replace when parts are changed, and even when I had prior approval to get the full cost of the parts covered under warranty even with dealer parts they've changed their response and said they wont cover it all, and also they only cover £50 an hour in labour where no garage charges that little even their partner garages refuse to charge that small amount, the policy also states that each claim can be upto £5000 theyre refusing to cover basically any of the bill saying the item that needs doing with the failed item wont be covered because thats not what failed, this is a scam warranty and they refuse to cover most of the problem DO NOT TAKE OUT THIS WARRANTY!!!

Edit: the total bill comes to just under £1200 and as you see from their reply they dont cover basically anything and try to get out of paying for what needs doing as per manufacturer's requirements plus they'll only cover the aftermarket cost for parts and not the proper amount which needs covering even their "partner" garages are refusing to deal with them at all especially at the prices they offer to cover!!!!!

This review is to personally thank…

This review is to personally thank "Jack" from A1 Warranty for his support in my recent warranty claim.
Initially the claim was only part paid due to the fact that it was classed as "wear and tear/ seized item", however after personally speaking to A1 the contribution was increased.
If the claim is valid A1 are there to listen to you and if they feel the claim is justified they will support you the best they can! Thank you once again for all your support

SCAM

SCAM! DO NOT CONSIDER

I had the platinum warranty cover that clearly states it covers the radiator. My radiator suddenly cracked and led to my engine overheating so needed urgent repair.

They refused to pay out claiming it was wear and tear.

Any claim they will just say wear and tear.

An absolute scam of a company. I would avoid with a barge pole.

Dear Mr Cook,
I note your cover expired on 23.11.25 and then you took out a new cover on 21.01.26 and within 1 week opened a claim for a radiator.
The radiator job was completed on 28.01.26 and your chosen garage book at least 1 week ahead (confirmed with the garage) meaning the fault was present at the point of taking the cover and was probably the reason why you took the cover.
The work was completed without our prior approval and upon looking at the image of the radiator we can see the bottom 2 rows were clearly deteriorated.
Having looked at the facts it doesn't paint good light on you.

Terrible, waste of money!

Terrible. Not worth the paper it is written on. We broke down as the alternator has gone on our car. A1 are only paying a tiny fraction of the cost including a ridiculously low payment for labour. They are claiming the job will only take an hour, paying labour at a rate below any garage I know of, and all the parts that are required to complete the job other than the alternator itself are not covered.

Broken gearbox

I brought a 2nd hand car that came with an A1 Approved warranty for 6 months. Unfortunately within 2 months of purchase the car developed a leak from the automatic gearbox ,which turned out to being a whole gearbox rebuild/new clutch etc.
The bill came to £3700 ! Ouch ,so we claimed under Warranty and after about a week A1 approved agreed to pay £2000 which was the maximum single repair cost as shown in the warranty booklet. This is totally acceptable to us and to be honest we were expecting a fight to get that much ,but they dealt with the garage throughout the process and paid when they said they would.
So although we still had to pay a considerable sum of money ,it was less than half what it could of been .so THANK YOU A1 APPROVED

I bought a Platinum Warranty for a year…

I bought a Platinum Warranty for a year as recommended by the car dealer but recentlyhad to make a claim, after being asked to avoid main dealers i eventually found three garages capable of carrying out the work (jag ipace heater pressure unit 8-9hour job), I.ve had to make numerous phone calls to chase this up as A1 seem incapable if keeping customers informed and eventually found out ,from the garage, that they had decided that the work should be done in 4hrs instead of 8 and reduced labour cost by 30%. I,m ending up paying more than 50% to have the car repaired. Warranty is not fir for purpose if you have a specialist vehicle so look at other options, this one's not worth the money

Dear Michael.
Thank you for the review.
The reason we ask you to stay away from main dealers is because you have a labour cap and the dealers charge way more than your cap and more than double of your appointed garage.
I do have to question as to why the garage have quoted us 15 hours labour if they have confirmed to you it can be done in 8, the book time is 4.
I am pleased to see we have approved £1,243.62 towards the works needed. We do approve this directly with the garage as they are the ones who submit the claim on your behalf.

Keep your money in a jar towards repairs Not A1

Hi, Claims NOT approved, just to let you know, I am cancelling my ongoing card payment. Further to my failed claim for the second part of the repair to my vehicle, I found our phone conversation very unhelpful. The gist of which was that if it's not approved, we are not paying. The first part was (blamed the garage for incompetence).
I will not go into the reasons why the car needs further repairs because you are not interested, only interested in taking people's money and being as obstructive as possible to avoid paying for genuine repairs. I was made to feel like I was trying to con you, but it's the other way. I have had this Gold Warranty Policy for at least 3 years, costing £1188. You only paid half the first stage of the last repair, and for one replacement spring from a previous repair. Looks like a profitable option not to approve or make it very difficult to get repairs approved, requiring video evidence of the problems, proof of servicing, etc

I would not recommend your warranty to anyone. very obstructive to get genuine repairs. There might be a reason for this

Dear Brendan,
As we have already explained we do require evidence of an issue to submit a claim for you, like the 2 claims we have paid previously.
This time you had the work done without any approval from us, it then transpires that the repair failed and the vehicle needed a second repair that was done again without any approval. This is exactly why we ask for evidence so this doesn't happen.
