Had my door sideswiped in an incident
Had my door sideswiped in an incident. Asked AAMI to get it repaired with my own repairer which they refused. They promised me the repair would have a warranty. Six months later the the automotive putty which they repaired the door with cracked. I took in the car back to AAMi to rectify the repair. They refused claiming I had re-repaired the door. I Protested and they just ghosted me. Absolute charlatans.

They're a company of swindlers and thieves. I don't know why the Australian government hasn't held them accountable.
My experience with AAMI has been…
My experience with AAMI has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.
When I first lodged my claim after my December 2025 accident, the initial representative was excellent—knowledgeable and proactive. She explained my not-at-fault benefits, offered a hire car, reimbursement up to $200, and even contacted my preferred repairer to confirm they would take the job. I felt confident at that stage.
Four weeks later, after no updates, I was suddenly told I could not use my preferred repairer because it was “not part of my policy.” This makes no sense. Why was it offered and confirmed in the first place? Why was I not informed earlier? I had to chase everything myself.
Only after I called again did anything move. I was contacted by AAMI’s preferred repairer and only then realised my car had been sitting in a holding yard for four weeks doing nothing.
On my third call, I was told the car might be a write-off and that I would receive a call within a week. That call never came. It has now been two months and I still have no clear answer whether my car will be repaired or written off.
The lack of communication, conflicting information, and unacceptable delays are beyond frustrating. Determining if a car is repairable should not take two months.
I have been a loyal customer of AAMI for six years and have never made a claim before. After this experience, I would not recommend AAMI.

The most basic requests will waste days of your time. I have been run around by about 4 customer service reps to simply add items to my cover.
I have it all written down in a spreadsheet and have sent it several times, and they can't answer basic questions of whether it has been added or if I need more cover for their own policy. Frustrating and the biggest time waste.
'Unlucky your with AAMI'
Absolutely useless. Poor communication (both written and verbally). Poor advice. Daily phone calls to clarify different issues, only to be given more wrong or omitted information, and then the icing of being told yet another form needs to be completed 4 weeks after sending in the forms they've requested of me. No faith in this company whatsoever. Will be moving both car and house insurance to another company pronto!!!
Unlucky I am with Aami.
Unlucky I am with Aami.
To resume the situation.
My daughter called me for a water leak coming from the ceiling. Just made a claim with insurer. They sent their 2 useless plumbers to investigate the leak. Even with their technology tools , they cannot find where the leak come from. I ve got holes in my ceilling made by their own contractors. The assessment brainless plumber from Aami tried to trick us with his no sense speech about the water leak because he was not able to find the cause.
Few weeks later, Aami declined the claim with false results from their own plumbers.
I just call an independent retail plumber and the leak was fixed, it cost less than the Aami excess.
So my advise, avoid avoid avoid avoid.
Customer service awful.
Prefer to pay more for now with a Home insurer that get skills for these types of incidents.
Not recommend to take this insurance
Not recommend to take this insurance. Waste of money! Claims are unhelpful.

AAMI was unable to retreive my items from my car after it was written off due to one of their customers. After being specifically asked for specific items, they have advised car has been wrecked. THERE IS NO LUCK TO AAMI, AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I will never in my life give AAMI another cent of money. They have taken a year and a half and they still haven't paid out my home insurance claim and them and their builder "ARC" are grossly incompetent frauds.

Took them a while but they paid for the whole damage
Usless Call center
Absolutely useless overseas call center. All I wanted to was to ask 2 basic questions on a new policy i got an online quote for. AAMI have chosen now to use an overseas call center with untrained staff who dont understand the policies or even what is covered. I Have been on hold for about 20 minutes while they are looking for somone who may know. If you cant keep a call center in Australia with knowledgable staff then I dont want to deal with you
Home and Contents - Totally not worth the money!
Have home and contents insurance with AAMI. I thought I was covered. As it turns out when you loose your 65" Plasma TV to a lightning strike, you have to pay the $600 dollar excess and cop the TV they replace it with! A cheap LCD variant work $900. So I told them I have a Plasma, it was worth $4000 when I bought it and I would like an equivalent which is OLED now. They told me they can only supply me with a TV from their suppliers. So, 900 - 600 = $300! So totally not worth it, shit service, the assessor couldn't speak English properly and I told them to jam it. Not insuring with AAMI ANYMORE!
Very bad service
Very bad service , AAMI using a doggy contractors for roadside service and they damaged my car and AAMI don’t take any responsibility.bad service
Criminals
Want to lose your car and your money? Go with AAMI so they can send your car of to JV repairs where they will send it to the salvage yard without notifying you while a claims expert from overseas tells you your car is being repaired.
Then after you raise it with a solicitor aami will make a poor attempt at fixing the issue by repeatedly lying and offering you half of the cars market value. (This was all from a low speed not at fault minor accident I may add)
Worst experience I have ever had in…
Worst experience I have ever had in relation to insurance! A AAMI insured driver drove into our commercial loading dock door and totally destroyed it . That driver did notify AAMI but of course I had to deal with the whole situation as the driver washed his hands of it and left it to me to organise a replacement. AAMI were absolutely useless and wouldn’t answer my calls or even respond to my emails . I won’t go into the gory details but they were absolutely pathetic and it was a very stressful time . Do NOT ever insure with AAMI !!!!!
The worst experience I ever had with…
The worst experience I ever had with insurance companies is this one so please before you spend your money with this company try to find if that’s if there’s a decent insurance company out there I guarantee you you will not find a decent one but maybe better than Amy maybe

Very poor customer handling and repeated waste of my time for the same reason. This has happened to me twice. I would not recommend this insurance company to anyone.

AAMI Made it super easy to take out a income protection policy then absolutely ground me down when it came to paying it out when I got cancer. They requested all my pay information, BAS statements, invoices, Bank Statements etc. When I provided everything they wanted they said they could only pay out on the previous year because my tax return for the current year hadn’t been lodged yet. Conveniently opting for the lesser figure.
Then they trudged through 3 years prior medicare history questioning every single transaction/appointment with the hope that there was a reason for a prior illnesses that I had to void making a payment. If you’re considering a policy with this heartless company, don’t expect to receive any kind of payout in the first two months of putting in a claim.
Worst insurance
Worst insurance, makes you wait on phone for an hour and tells you will take 90 min for tow truck. Then tow truck comes in 3 hours while you sit on the car in the middle of Sydney. Avoid it like plague.
