Acer refusing to refund return item that DPD lost

Bought a Chromebook from Acer on 3rd June 2025. It developed a fault with the keyboard within days, so returned it. Dropped off the parcel at the DPD parcel point as instructed and DPD lost the parcel. After waiting TWO MONTHS for an "investigation" DPD confirmed I returned the parcel, but they lost it and then blamed me for "mislabelling the parcel". Acer have now refused to refuned me and I have to take them to small claims court.

I entered into a contract with Acer. This contract includes the obligation for Acer to provide a product of satisfactory quality and to handle returns properly. Neither of which has been met. DPD is the courier company that Acer uses, however my legal relationship is with the seller (Acer UK).

Under The Consumer Rights Act 2015, The Act states that the goods remain at the retailer's risk until they are in the buyer's physical possession. This principle also applies in reverse. When I return a faulty item, the retailer is responsible for the item's safe return. The retailer has a contract with DPD, and any issues between them (like DPD losing a parcel or refusing an insurance claim) are your problem to sort out, not mine. I should not have to be telling Acer this.

Avoid Acer unless you want problems. I am now out of pocket by £750. This is outrageous.

TERRIBLE SERVICE

TERRIBLE SERVICE. Ordered and paid on Wednesday. The website and the confirmation clearly states -- Express Delivery (1-2 working days after processing) - DHL
Like most people I read that as the order is processed when I pay so expected it today Friday. Not received any email or text with tracking so I called their customer care. WHAT A JOKE - the woman I spoke to did not care in the slightest, she told me it had not even been dispatched and at best ikt would leave on Monday, so delivery 1-2 days from that!!! I have an IT person coming monday to install as this is a work laptop which will cost me money to now cancell at such short notice. When I asker to speak to a manager or supervisor I was told manager is off today. When I asked to speak to their manager I was told I could not. I then asked to be put through to the complaints department, only to be told they only accept emailes!!!! They call that CUSTOMER CARE,

I bought an Acer product a year and a half ago a laptop. The charger already went called and spoke to a manager. The manager proceeded to tell me that after a year it’s out of warranty and chargers do fail so purchase a new one after a year and a half I shouldn’t have to purchase a plug. Obviously their product is made for shit and they don’t stand by their product by making me have to purchase a new charger on something that’s a year and a half old not very good company and not a very good way to handle things very very disappointed

Got some problem with Acer

Got some window 10 problem with Acer, then turned to online for help. I was required to put in SNID, which I did, but the message says it's invalid, regardless the ID number I put several times is black and white written correct. Then I called customer service, the answer is not friendly or helpful in any way......

I wish I could rate Acer zero

I wish I could rate Acer zero. Spent more than £1000 on Acer Spin 3 to support my studies and after months of money spent on repair and troubleshooting, it has been confirmed today that it has catastrophically failed due to a faulty motherboard in less than 18 months. Just out of warranty but Acer have completely washed their hands of it, despite supplying a faulty and not fit for purpose product. About to lodge complaint with consumer ombudsman, CEDR (they are considering if they can help, Acer have set themselves up in the UK in such a way as to try and avoid all official avenues of complaint) and ultimately probably small claims. Shocking customer service (very obvious here!) who could not care less about their shoddy products.

Acer Aspire Lite – DOA Garbage with Zero Reliability

I’ve never written a review like this before, but my experience with Acer has been so bad that it feels like a public service announcement.
I purchased the Acer Aspire Lite 15.6” (Pentium-N6000/8GB/256GB SSD) expecting a basic, functional laptop. What I got was a dead-on-arrival nightmare.

Right out of the box:

The laptop was horribly slow, even for basic tasks.

It took ages to boot and longer to open anything.

Wi-Fi connectivity was completely broken — it would connect for a couple of minutes, then drop out constantly.
The trackpad failed entirely, forcing me to plug in an external mouse just to use the thing.
This is not a $200 throwaway laptop, this was a new machine that failed at literally everything from day one.
This wasn’t a one-off glitch — it’s clearly a quality control issue, and based on others’ experiences, Acer’s budget models are consistently underperforming or outright defective.
Acer’s brand has become synonymous with low-grade hardware, poor reliability, and non existent QA standards.

If you're considering Acer — don’t. You’ll likely end up with a broken product and no support. It’s not worth the gamble.

Don't Buy Acer If Your Money Doesn't Grow On Trees!

Extremely Disappointed with Acer – Worst After-Sales Experience (Case ID: 938745C)
AcerAcer India
I purchased an Acer Aspire Lite laptop for ₹35,000 from Amazon, trusting the brand and expecting at least basic reliability. For the first few weeks, everything seemed fine. But on the 46th day, while I was working, the laptop suddenly shut down and hasn’t turned on since. No power. No response. Just dead.
We contacted Acer support immediately, and since the device is under a 1-year warranty, we expected proper assistance. A technician visited and diagnosed the issue as a completely dead motherboard — within just 46 days of purchase. That’s not normal wear and tear — it’s a clear manufacturing defect.
But instead of doing the right thing — replacing the entire defective unit — Acer is forcing a motherboard replacement. And here’s the catch: if I accept the repair, and the laptop dies again in a few weeks or months (which is very possible), they’ll claim it’s “too old” for full replacement and leave me stuck with a faulty product.
That’s the trap.
They want to “buy time” with a repair so that the warranty window keeps shrinking and the customer has no further rights. By the time it fails again, they’ll just shrug and say “It’s old now, we can’t replace it.” Why should I be the one taking that risk? I didn’t buy a new laptop to gamble on its future.
Let me repeat the key points:
Laptop failed just 46 days after purchase.
Acer confirmed motherboard is dead.
No full replacement offered, only motherboard swap.
I’ve already lost over 15 days of work.
Customer service sends only automated responses, no real help.
If I accept the repair, I’ll lose my right to a proper solution later.
They are stalling and trapping customers into settling.
This is a ₹35,000 product, not a cheap toy. And this is how Acer handles its warranty and customers?
Case ID: 938745C – maybe someone at @AcerIndia will finally wake up and act.
To anyone thinking of buying Acer — don’t fall for it. Their laptops might seem good on paper, but the after-sales service is a disaster. You’re on your own once the product is sold.
Acer
Acer India– I demand a proper resolution. Full replacement, not patchwork repairs on a faulty unit.

Acer TravelMate P2 Laptop | TMP215-52

The laptop Acer TravelMate P2 Laptop | TMP215-52 lifespan, period guarantee and quality of the product is poor. The ratio costs- quality are deeply disappointing. In 4 years the laptop was used accidentally . On the back side the screws are coming loose. One of those screws couldn’t be fixed because of the poor quality of the plastic. To send the laptop costs already €73. After the so-called inspection of the product will come more costs or you can leave the product by Acer after paying the €73 fee. Definitely I wouldn’t recommend Acer for quality even if the price is high ! Customer service are rapid but not customer focused.

I used to love Acer

I used to love Acer
I used to love Acer - But never AGAIN!!!!!!!

I've been a loyal Acer customer for over 14 years. Their products used to be reliable, high-performing, easy to operate, and simple to upgrade - everything you could want in a laptop. My last laptop lasted over a decade without a single fault. The only reason I even considered replacing it was because it no longer supported Windows 11.

But that's when everything changed.

Acer today is not the company it used to be. Their flagship products are flawed, underwhelming, and certainly not worth the premium price. What's worse is their after-sales service, which is third- rate at best.

I've experienced:
> Disrespectful, dismissive support staff
> Ignored reasonable requests
> A complete lack of customer care
> Damage during returns due to inadequate packaging despite the OME packaging being available, by DPD, the third-party courier they use!!

This isn't just about one faulty laptop - it's about a company that no longer values its customers or stands behind its products. Brand loyalty clearly means nothing to Acer anymore.

If you're thinking about buying Acer - don't.
And if you're dealing with DPD for tech returns - think twice.

Don't let this happen to you. Choose a company that still values quality and customer service. Acer isn't that company anymore.

Your Acer Chromebook has more to say…

Your Acer Chromebook has more to say than me. There is not one move I can make without a comment, suggestion or explanation of this wannabe laptop, not one. After two years I think I spend more time managing all the comments then that I actually did something useful on this thing and now, after two years, I’m done. You go talk to someone else now.
