I recently rented a car from Advantage…

I recently rented a car from Advantage Rental Car and had a very disappointing experience. They charged me extra for insurance without informing me beforehand. After I returned home, I noticed two additional charges on my credit card. The car’s exterior was dirty when I picked it up, which was quite off-putting. I tried to contact their customer service regarding the extra charges, but received no response or assistance.

PLEASE, don’t rent from this company.

*Terrible Experience – Hidden Charges!**

I recently rented a car, expecting to pay $150 as per my booking. To my shock, I was charged $400 upon returning the car! There were no clear explanations for this price hike, and customer service was completely unhelpful when I tried to resolve the issue. It feels like a scam with hidden fees and charges that were never disclosed upfront. I strongly advise anyone considering renting from this company to steer clear. It's simply not worth the stress and unexpected costs

DON'T GO - ADVANTAGE CAR RENTAL IN SCARBOROUGH

I booked a Honda Civic in Advantage Scarborough Ontario for 2 weeks from July 25 to August 3. When I arrived the car office, there was only 1 guy and he was very busy at doing everything : car cleaning, reception, phone picking, and lot of things. I had to wait long until he was available to serve me. He asked if I wanted to upgrade to more expensive car. I said no need. Then he said the Civic was driven by other people because I arrived late. He offered me Hyundai ELANTRA which I was fine. He asked many questions including whether I am first time to rent car. I said Yes. Immediately he said I need to pay additional CAD100 for top up the license recovery, and the deductible liability of insurance increase from CAD1000 to CAD2500. I told him that I have driving experience for 20 years though this was my first time to rent car due to maintenance of my own car, but he said it was company policy and mentioned in the contract. I was in rush to go so no choice but accepted. When I reviewed the contract afterwards, there was nothing mentioned about this. The guy increased the charges / insurance liability as he liked. Even though it was a policy, it should be mentioned clearly on the website when I made the booking so that I could decide whether to choose the company or not.

Also the car they provided were old with bad smell. I need to turn on the AC immediately after got in the car to keep the air ventilation.

This car rental company was not honest and unfair to their customers. Due to lack of manpower, the service was not good. I DO NOT recommend it to other drivers who want to book a car!

Stay far away as possible from this company I booked online A car with top cover and full insurance when I got to my destination to pick up the car. They wanted an extra €350. They told me I only had Limited basic Insurance cover and that I would be liable for any, Break downs, and that I would have to fix it and pay for the mechanical myself and not to contacted them till the rental agreement had finished. I have never heard of anything like this before in my life.
I had booked the car online through Economy car rentals that I paid the deposit I have emailed back-and-forth with economy car rentals and they do not wish to return my deposit

Employees with no knowledge of their system, inconsistent pricing, scamny and shady, save your time

After utilizing this company several times it seems my good experience had run out. Only twice was I ever given the same set of "rules" regarding my rental.

I say that because 2 out of 4 experiences were actually decent. They accepted my insurance and my credit card insurance and didn't hassle me about buying more that I didn't legally need.

However, my last time going there I had to walk out. I had a car rental scheduled for 3 weeks. That price was good. However, when I got there the only person working was stubborn and obstinate.

I say that because despite my rental history, he played dumb as in he had no idea how I wasn't charged more previously. I brought the same paperwork I'd brought every time and now suddenly he had no idea how the last two times I'd rented there they were able to release the car to me with what I'd brought.

Keep in mind this would have been the 7th time I rented.

Now all of the sudden I could only use one form of insurance, he couldn't use my personal and the credit card insurance. His own system seemed to be so confusing he couldn't figure out how they'd done it before. The price he wanted to charge for insurance was higher than when I did pay their insurance before as well.

Somehow managed to take a $400 rental and get the price to nearly $1000. Ridiculous.

When I saw another guy who had previously helped me the time before, he took played dumb. Well I don't know either. What does that mean when he was the one that checked me out last time??? Lol then proceeded to tell me he didn't even know how I rented a car beyond 12 days as that was their limit. Clearly a lie. I'll never return there or recommend this place to anyone.

Every time I've gone I've seen people arguing with the person behind the counter about something. Now I too have been that person. I guess my good fortune with this company ran out.

Save your time and your money and go elsewhere.

BEWARE OF THE ADVANTAGE CAR RENTAL COMPANY

I rented a car at Orlando airport for May 23-May 26 using Expedia. Expedia quoted a total of $113.61 to be paid on car pick up. When I arrived at the rental facility, the agent (named Ali) told me that my rental charge will be over $200. It included various options, such as liability insurance, comprehensive coverage, toll package, etc. After extensive discussion and providing the agent my personal auto insurance for coverage, he stated the lowest rental charges he can come up with were $139.59. In the absence of a paper contract, there was no easy way for me to see how he came up with this amount. When I returned the car, I saw that, despite my refusing any insurance, he included PARTIAL DAMAGE WAIVER coverage in my charges. I called Advantage Rental Car company. I was told it was too late and they will not refund the difference. In short, I suggest that beware of the Advantage Rental Car company unless you want to pay for spurious charges.

The have so many hidden fees its such a rip off. We hired a car for one of our staff. $35 for the day, or so we thought. We opted in for insurance $15 a day. Then there was the pre paid gas,(acceptable) Loss damage waiver(whatever that was) Daily tolls, (acceptable) Priv Fee Recovery Charge (whatever that was) then there was state tax, vehicle license feee, Florida surcharge and a Tire battery fee.(minimal) but in the end it was $137 for ONE DAY... We only paid $157 for two days with Hertz and didn't have to travel miles to the rental location. So please use them if you have a lot of money to throw away

Advantage closed before there time and the customer service manager Nicolas said they were closed before their time because they had rented out all their cars before our plane landed. They charged us a fee for not canceling even though they had no cars left. We tried calling over and over and they didn't pick up because they sent everyone home. Advantage abandoned us at the airport with no other options. We felt betrayed and worried because we had an early meeting the next day with a 2 hour drive still ahead of us with no car. So we rented from Sixt rental car , they are a much better company. Review after review has said advantage has stolen from them. Call the attorney general of the state your in ASAP if they have done something bad to you.

Got an expedia quote of $114.35…

Got an expedia quote of $114.35 Canadian all fees and taxes included for a car Jan 2nd 2024 to Jan 6th 2024.
Got a bill of $269USD along with all the add-ons not consented too. Tried to talk to expedia concerning the situation and the referred me to call advantage rent a car which I did, but it was like taking to a robot, non stop telling me its mandatory to take the extras. Now I'm dealing directly with the credit card company to reimburse me and they will deal with the company directly. Its fraud, STAY AWAY FROM THIS B.S company

Deceptive Company

"0" Star it is... I rented a car on August 30th... Orlando Airport..The windshield had a crack and we went back in the location after inspecting the car. The agent rudely said they know their cars and they have that already documented and that we do not need to do anything. However, we took pictures. upon returning the car the intake person was another obnoxious one and he said there is a crack... we told him it was there, he demanded we showed him proof which we did and he scrolled down to the details on the pic, saw the date and time and he said okay we are good. About 2 weeks later I was billed for an additional $850 + $150. The cowards at Advantage Rental Car won't take the calls and would email back instead. This is a very deceptive company and STAY AWAY... THE EMPLOYEES ARE RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND THEY SEEM TO LIVE OFF OF RIPPING CUSTOMERS OFF. THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN AND NOT ABLE TO PRACTICE IN ANY BUSINESS. I refuse to have them get away with this.
Note: HERTZ do not own Advantage... they spun them off.

If I could give ZERO stars I would.
He first gave me an unsafe Hyundai sonata with a flat tire (air pressure of 14!). we turned around to get our car changed but inconveniently he went for his lunch break. No one in the hotel had his contact info or ANYONES info for that matter. So we wasted 40 mins waiting around and lost all our activity reservations. Eventually some woman came and upgraded us to a Hyundai Tuscan and when we got in the car the gas was less than half tank full! And in the end they CHARGED us an additional $162 thinking we did not fill it up. Good thing I took pictures of both the flat tire and empty gas tank so they can’t scam us. DO NOT RENT FROM ADVANTAGE.

Get this they charged my credit card an additional 42.60 and did not explain why???? I'm thinking because of the review. This is criminal I have my banking institution open up an investigation and dispute This company issued a receipt with NO extra charges. The fuel was full and I had the toll package.

I'm afraid they are going to continue charging my card.
I called the phone number, did not go through. They are owned by HERTZ. I called HERTZ. Nothing but voicemails and no help whatsoever.
Oh and i tried sending an email that was returned. Way to go HERTZ

They lie. They don’t tell you anywhere that you need proof of insurance. Yiu get there they tell you it’s very important that you get the toll package even though I said we’re not travelling far or at night. 240 plus tax. Liars Greed

Charging me $850 for a chip in the windshield that was already There.

Rented the car from Advantage at 10100 International Drive Orlando on Sept 1 2023. Was supposed to be a full size Toyota Camry for $22. a day. They stuck me with a nissan Altima. Scratcher all over the car, no windshield wiper fluid. They asked me to look inside the car for any damage. I was focused on looked for rips and cigarette burns. They asked if I see any chips in the window. The sun visor was down and so I did not see any. They gave me the keys, I went into the bathroom and came out 15 minutes later I drove away with the car and a few blocks later I lifted up the divers sun visor and there was a chip the size of a dime. My wife quickly called Advantage and it went to voicemail. We left a message and the woman called back 10 minutes later and said you should have wrote it on the paper. I said I didn't see it. It was an oversight on my part. She said she will put it in the notes as we were dropping the car off at a different location. Right away the first thing Kevin M said you have a chip in the glass. It was like it was an arranged scam. We told him the woman made a mention of it in the notes. he said ok and said your receipt will be sent to your email. It was fine and the total charge was $165.76 for the 3 days. There was no mention of any damage anywhere. Three days later there was an additional charge oh $850.00. They said the chip was my fault and it needs a new windshield. I called Safelight and they said for $159.00 they can repair any chip or crack up to the size of a dollar bill. They are 100% trying to get over on customers with this car, using it over and over again. The Camry I was supposed to have was parked right next to the altima when I picked it up. Other car companies inspect the car with you and they are the ones writing the dents, scratches and chips and they ask you if you see any more things wrong. This company is a bunch of thieves. I plan on putting a stop on my credit card and if that doesn't work then I will cancel my jet Blue credit card and not make any more payments. SO WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM ADVANTAGE.

I don't understand how these thieves…

I don't understand how these thieves are still in business given all these horrible reviews. DO NOT FALL FOR THE CHEAP PRICE TAG. I PROMISE IT WILL BE TRIPLE THE AMOUNT. A rental that should have only costed us about 300$ cost almost $800. I returned the car just the way it was rented and they took my security deposit. I called and asked about it and they promised it back but that was never refunded. In our contract it states we get one full tank within the price we pay, however when I returned the car with more than half a tank left they surcharged me for not returning the car with a full tank. I added a carseat for my toddler and they gave me an old, dirty expired car seat. The woman who was working the desk up front admitted to how old these car seats are. THIS IS NOT LEGAL. They should not be giving out these carseats. I felt unsafe with my daughter in the carseat that I ended up buying a new carseat and checked it into my flight upon departing...The carseat was so filthy that my daughter developed some sort of rash around her neck. Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere. I promise paying 25-75$ more with a well known name (hertz, enterprise, etc) will save you the stress, aggravation and money (and your child's life if you are renting a carseat).

NEVER rent from Advantage Car Rental Orlando Airport.

RA#: MCO-92604. Out 4/19/23 to 4/26/23. Three issues for the Orlando (near) Airport place: Charged $125 for cleaning. All the car needed was a car wash and vacuum. I don't smoke, so there was no issue with that. Emailed and called the company THREE times. No response. Secondly, the person renting me the car said that State toll transponder I own would not work with Advantage cars because they have license plate linked accounts and that I must purchase the daily toll add-on from Advantage. Thy guy told me that only cars rented at airport have that flexibility. I contacted the State and they indicated that no rental car company can preempt the State's transponder use. Thirdly: They told me the Travelocity car insurance was garbage and that I needed their insurance. I did not do theirs but they took my insurance card for liability coverage. I have rented 100's of cars on business and I will NEVER rent from them again. Based upon my experience. it seems like they are organized to rip people off......

SO MANY HIDDEN COST, THE TOTAL PRICE OF RENTAL WAS DOUBLE AT THE END OF THE DAY.
I REQUESTED A SUNPASS, WAS TOLD NONE AVAILABLE. THEY USED PAYMENTS VIA THE LICENSE PLATE READER AT THE TOLL. THEN, THEY CHARGED ME 9.99 PER DAY. INCLUDING THE THREE DAYS THE CAR STAYED PARKED. WHAT A SCAM!!!!!!

Never ever again!

Never ever again! I was in Orlando and decided to hire a car with Advantage as it seemed to be the cheapest. That was definitely not the case! You pay the fee in which you agree plus a ton of extras that you must buy! You absolutely must have either basic or super insurance - basic costing a grand total of £45 per day! Then you get landed also with a prepaid fuel amount that again you absolutely must pay! In total something that I thought would cost £200 cost a grand total of £600!!!!! I refused to pay this and once that happened the team member switched from a happy, but very pushy, sales person to a mean person who thought that you had wasted their time! Not happy and never ever again! We ended up going with Dollar instead and although the upfront cost was higher you weren't demanded to buy anything else. Avoid at ALL costs!
