The problem now with Adverts is it's…

The problem now with Adverts is it's crawling with sharks mainly in the tech section with tonnes of accounts to get your products. There are so many of them they all end up buying and selling to each other. They drive away ordinary sellers just trying to shift some old tech etc. If you give them any lip back when they write trash on your ad they call in their pals or use their other accounts to wreck your ad even more. Hopefully now they have brought in payment for ads using credit cards or PayPal it might alleviate the problem some what. The truth is the sharks have destroyed the site for ordinary punters. Bring back the old mods from 10 years ago who will clean this site up in a jiffy!

8 year account - NEVER AGAIN.

Jenny is a power trip hunger magnet. I requested to delete my account over a month ago. ‘ You have messages in your inbox, please reply to them, but don’t log into your account ‘. My solicitor actually laughed out loud.

Best buying / selling site in Ireland!

I have used Adverts a lot, and have found it to be very good for both buying and selling.
Naturally I pay with PayPal protection unless the seller has loads of positive feedback.
But it still is much safer than Done deal as you can give feedback and everything is open and visible.
Good customer service too👍

THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST SELLING SITE…

THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST SELLING SITE ON THE NET, THEY ALLOW TROLLS TO SPOIL YOUR ADDS WITHOUT ANY PENALTIES. THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY FOR YOUR ADD AND THEN JUST FORGET ABOUT YOU. THEY HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE TO CONTACT WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN RIPPED OF BY THE MANY TRADERS SELLING KNOCKED OFF ITEMS OR STOL-N ITEMS, THEY JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY AND THEN ITS GOODBYE.

Definitely avoid for sizable purchases (only in cash/in person), no protection for buyers

Definitely avoid for sizable purchases. Bought a garden set from bagthatbargain in april. One chair turned out to be faulty. The after service was terrible and I suspect the seller held me off initially stonewalling and excuses to avoid the 45 day rule on my reviewing from purchase (a rule which I guess I should have been aware of). Their excuse was actually a serious life event (which to be honest I now question) so I afforded them alot of time. I had to ask the adverts team for help in early June and only then did the seller begin to respond - I needed to ask adverts team to intervene this way in a number of additional occasions due no answer from the seller.

I only received the replacement chair a couple of weeks ago, with a part missing. Which has not been resolved to date. And towards the very end which they made one good will gesture which they have not fulfilled, albeit it not obligatory.

I note a lot of buyers have had good experiences with this seller but I would just like to post a review on adverts at this stage to forewarn others of the risks and lack of communication issues that may arise - I'd imagine the seller (bagthatbargain) has an issue with it's cheap supplier, but ultimately the contract is between the seller and I.

My issue is as much with the adverts team, and set up, in that I can not leave an honest (respectful) review of the issues others might face when considering buying a more expensive item through this shop as 45 days elapsed. Overall a drawn out and exasperating experience, I'm not clear to what standards sellers are held to but hopefully a Google search will lead to potential buyers being forewarned on this seller and taking an informed decision on the service that will be provided when issues arise.

I hope this review is balanced. I probably lost you all after "definitely avoid".

As there is no transparent and clear accountability, I'd say keeping to paid in cash, local (in person) transactions is the best way to use this marketplace.

AVOID AT ALL COST

AVOID AT ALL COST. This is quite frankly one of the worst buy and sell sites out there in Ireland. There is absolutely no buyer protection, you may as well just look for what you want on a notice board in a shop or in the local newspaper. Scams and fraudulent behaviour is rife on Adverts - you can report it all you want, nothing gets done. A seller will be banned, but he’s still got your money, name and address. Massive GDPR issues. Adverts do not offer compensation, proper assistance, or advice. They advise you deal with your local Garda and wash their hands of you. I’m surprised they don’t have a Trust and Safety team filtering out these sellers. Don’t use this site, don’t make the same mistake I did!

Toxic due to company inaction

Finally closed my account as it's gotten too toxic and potentially dangerous.

Buying and selling online means having a bit of a thick skin, but it gets really toxic when the 'host' company has zero interest in doing the right thing by genuine users, or following their own rules and guidelines.

Due to everyone knowing they do nothing - against scammers, bullies and fakes - it's attracted even more lowlifes.

It's frightening the lengths these lowlifes will go to 'get back at' you for something as simple as negative feedback, which is 100% accurate. Including using duplicate accounts trying to get contact info to bully (recently happened to me). Not even talking about the professional scammers.

There now seems to be about one genuine buyer/seller for every ten fake/scammers...and all the while, Adverts.ie is silent to it all.

I'm going elsewhere to buy and sell stuff...thinking a street corner would be better at this stage.

Buyer agreed to buy 3 items listed as…

Buyer agreed to buy 3 items listed as 'non negotiable' price (€20). I went to meet 'Polly2014', a Traveller driving a white van, at a local garage and she immediately started faulting the condition of the items (they weren't perfect but were accurately described, lots of pics) Then she told me she had to buy curtains for her brother. Then she wanted money off, then she wanted to take 2 instead of 3. After 10 minutes of this she said "I'm not takin' dem den" and hopped back in to her van. Furious about a wasted trip for this. Left negative feedback on Adverts but they removed it!!! Leaving my experience / feelings aside, they're obviously that desperate that they're happy to mislead prospective buyers like this. I wondered how she could have 100% positive feedback, and lots of it! Who runs Adverts.ie ... Pavee Point? A disgrace.

Purchased a faulty Sharp TV

Purchased a faulty Sharp TV from a company called Gadget Tech Ireland. The seller produced a bogus invoice which charged us VAT despite the seller confirming he was not VAT registered.

I traced the supply chain of the TV and it was sold as a refurbished product by Sharp, and sold to us as a new item. No warranty exists for the TV.

I passed all this on to Eddie at adverts who didn't take any action and said the VAT issue was something for Revenue to investigate. He seemed happy to continue to provide a platform to someone committing VAT fraud
