Impossible to reach- poor operations

I have been trying to contact them all day. ! hour hold minimum , no call back and doesn't matter how many times you try to reach them. Airline is not appropriately staffed to deal with customers which raises a big risk for safety of passengers they are booking on their flights

TERRIBLE SERVICE

Our initial flight out of Winnipeg was delayed and caused us to miss our connection in Toronto. When we got to the gate the agent told us the plane had left 2 minutes ago but they had sent our bags ahead of us to Indianapolis (you are NEVER supposed to send bags ahead without a passanger, esp if its international). Air Canada rebooked us to Chicago that afternoon and then with United the next morning into Indianapolis. When we arrived at Indianapolis our 4 bags were not there. We waited around thinking maybe they would come on a later flight but they didn't show up. I tried to call Air Canada multiple times but I only ever got an automated message saying they would reach out to me in the next 24 hours. We waited around for 3 hours and finally left. We were visiting friends in the area so I drove to the airport multiple times in the week we were there hoping I would be able to talk to someone. Anyone I talked to said our bags weren't there so we gave up and left. We ended up going shopping to replace clothing and other essentials that were needed. On may 9 we flew to the Caribbean without our bags. 1 week later someone finally reached out to us about our bags and are completely unhelpful saying that they will send the bags back to Winnipeg. So here we are, in the Caribbean without our bags and having to go shopping to replace our missing essentials.

This is the 2nd time in a row we have…

This is the 2nd time in a row we have had multiple plane problems. We were stranded in Lisbon and it took 3 days to get home. We are in Madrid and our first flight was delayed 3.5 hours. We missed our connecting flight. We were re routed all over the place. We get to Madrid and no luggage. I have an air tag and my luggage is sitting in Toronto. There was no one at the airport to help us. I filed a claim on line and was told it will not arrive until Wednesday. We leave Saturday morning early. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and fly another airline.

We were on flight 1049

We were on flight 1049 - Chicago, IL (ORD) to Vancouver, BC (YVR) on 5126. My issue is not with the Chicago airport staff.

It's with the Air Canada actual flight. I called before the flight, explaining to them that I have mobility issues. They assured me that I (and my travel companion) would be seated to accommodate these issues. I told them I will not be able to walk if I don't have leg room and the ability to walk/stretch my legs. They put me in a regular seat. I was offered NO other options.

The plane sounded like the brakes needed to be fixed during takeoff. But we got there safely.

During the flight, the staff acted as though any questions you asked were bothersome.

It was the worst flight I've ever taken.

The airport staff in Vancouver was wonderful.

It's just the "in-flight" personnel that were a HUGE issue.

We will NEVER fly Air Canada again.

5 hour direct turned to 24 hour w/layover

Bought a direct flight and it was changed a few weeks before to depart 5 hours later with a layover. Then the flight was delayed for 5 hours due to a security sweep and lost paperwork for the original security sweep. Then the flight attendants started fighting with customers because of seating issues. Instead of handling it, they lost their cool and were cursing out customers and loudly complaining and gossiping about them. The tall blonde lady was the rudest one, when a customer asked about missing her layover she replied "you're not the only one I don't know" and walked off in a huff. A passenger started to get anxious due to sitting on the plane for a combined time of 5 hours, and the flight attendant yelled at her YOU ARE WELCOME TO GET OFF THE PLANE ANY OF YOU ARE WELCOME TO LEAVE and walked away angry. Passengers started swearing and screaming. The pilot's voice was trembling in his updates. NOBODY had control of this situation. Nobody was helpful. All of the AC flight attendants were extremely shameful with their behaviour and had zero care for anyone. One tall man who appeared to be of Induan decent was the best, but unfortunately couldn't lead these spoiled misfits. I felt bullied. I felt anxious. I felt angry. I felt scared. I honestly at that point felt as if the plane was going to explode out of the sky with these idiots in charge. Right in the middle of the chaos, Air Canada gave us $15 to go the YVR specific restaurants that expired after 72 hours which was insulting. We arrived at Toronto to a free hotel at 3am for a 7:55am connection. I slept for 2 hours and cried when I woke up my body was stressed and dehydrated. My partner had nightmares and did not sleep.

I was also charged $70 for a bag that fit perfectly under my seat but did not fit in that joke of a metal box that the local news reported as incorrect measurements. I was sent a message prior to boarding that my bag was to fit under the seat. IT FITS UNDER THE SEAT JUST FINE. Then on my connection AC staff tried to charge me AGAIN FOR THE SAME BAG. I showed her the tag and she had no idea how I still had the bag, I said because it fits under my seat I keep trying to tell all of you it fits under the seat please come and see when I am seated I will show you. She then robotically said "I invite you to place it in this metal box" so I walked away from her, boarded, and put my bag under my seat. Nobody cared to look. Nobody supported me. They just stole my money and my peace of mind. I have ZERO RESPECT for people who talk down to paying customers and are not able to use critical thinking or make "executive decisions" (LOL) over minute non-issues. Two kinds of people in this world - problem makers and problem solvers. SO MANY PASSENGERS offered on the flight to help them solve their tiny problems and lead the way to success, but these ladies were the epitome of TOXIC.

I originally bought a 5 hour direct flight and ended up with a 24 hour long nightmare. If the Air Canada staff were at the very least NICE OR CARING OR HELPFUL OR UNDERSTANDING and not VILE AND EMBARRASING, this may have been a better experience. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN. Air Canada is out of the question.

Never use them

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Air Canada after my flight dates were changed without my consent, completely disrupting our travel plans, work leave arrangements, and vacation schedule.
What made the experience even worse was the lack of support from customer service. We spoke with a representative named Thomas, who was not helpful or accommodating at all despite the stress and inconvenience this situation caused us. We were simply trying to find a reasonable arrangement with the dates, but there was little flexibility shown from Air Canada’s side. During the process, Thomas eventually told us to speak to someone else and hung up on us midway through the conversation, which was highly unprofessional and frustrating.
Passengers plan vacations, coordinate approved leave from work, arrange transportation, accommodations, and family commitments around confirmed flight dates. Changing those dates without proper support or reasonable accommodation creates unnecessary stress and financial impact.
Based on this experience, Air Canada has some of the worst customer service I have encountered. After this situation, it honestly does not surprise me that the airline receives poor customer feedback across platforms such as Tripadvisor, Reddit, ConsumerAffairs, and Yelp.
I sincerely hope Air Canada improves both its customer support standards and the way it handles major itinerary changes affecting passengers.

I have three bad incidents

I have three bad incidents. The first was lost luggage, which they made right by paying for our necessities and delivering our luggage the next day.

The second was a flight delay. Again, they made it right by paying for a hotel, food, transportation to the hotel, and a $400 voucher. Although the coordination of it was so confusing I had a panic attack at the airport.

The most recent incident made me decide to never use or recommend Air Canada again. I booked a low fare flight but had to cancel the next day, within the 24 hour cancellation timeframe. I couldn't figure out how to do it on the website so I called customer service. There were extremely long call times and they were not even giving the option to stay on hold. I called within the 24 hour cancellation window but did not receive a call back until the next day at 2:15 a.m., when I was asleep.

Despite the inability to speak with customer service during the 24 hour window I was repeatedly denied a cancellation with refund even after showing the screenshot of my call log. If customers are unable to reach customer service and the company should still honor the policy from the time the customer attempted contact. I am incredibly disappointed and lost my annual vacation funds. This should never happen to anyone.

Barely deserves one star

Barely deserves one star. Delayed my flight for four hours, then cancelled it for “maintenance.” Added a stop to a nonstop flight then arrived late, which forced four of us to sprint through the airport in D.C and then have to back through security just to get into the domestic area of the airport. When we got to the gate they had no record of us being on the flight, luckily we still got on. We arrived in SF 7 hours late. I spent five hours and multiple weeks trying to be compensated for what is in their policy written it should be compensated for. Ultimately got nothing. I got with Air Canada every month. Huge disappointment all around. Intentionally set up to force you to give up. If I didn’t have to use them I wouldn’t.

Air Canada is extremely unreliable…

Air Canada is an extremely unreliable airline. In the past few weeks they cancelled flights on three occasions, and with very serious consequences for me on two occasions. And offering only a ridiculous 20$ food coupon as compensation, which the last time, didn’t even work when I tried to use it!!! Air Canada’s unofficial moto is “We’re not happy until you’re unhappy!”

Worst customer service!!

Worst customer service!!
Waited on hold for over TWO HOURS, the music finally stopped, it was silent for 30 seconds, the line went dead. I just wasted my entire evening sitting on hold for absolutely nothing. And all I wanted to ask was if I had a carry-on included in my upcoming flight because I have conflicting info in my confirmation emails. NOT happy.

I’m not one to typically leave reviews…

I’m not one to typically leave reviews but after how they handled a baggage experience I will leave this review. I navigated a complex trip from Moose Factory with this airline and it involved short connections with a high likelihood of baggage not making it on my connecting flight. Despite my luggage not making my connecting flight, they ensured the luggage made it on the very next flight and was delivered to my house the same day I landed. Additionally they went above and beyond and replaced my luggage bag with a pricey Air Canada luggage due to damage my luggage received on a different airline earlier in the trip. I know Airlines get a bad wrap many times but Air Canada handled my trip with professionalism and class. They have certainly gained a repeat customer here.

Cheap airline even though it’s not low…

Cheap airline even though it’s not low cost. Bad customer service. Had a 12 hours flight and tries to change to an earlier connection flight from Vancouver to Montreal. I was the only one waiting at the customer service desk in Vancouver airport domestic area, waited there for over 30 minutes. Meanwhile, many people came to wait. And when it was my turn, the customer service staff refused to serve me because I took by mistake the priority line but my ticket was not. I explained to her that I was the first one long before others and she saw me when I was there. After insisting, she finally asked what’s my problem with very bad temper, then didn’t check anything and refused directly my request saying I have to stick to my flight, there is no other choice. That’s how they treat non VIP client.

One of the worst airlines

One of the worst airlines. They canceled a flight and had passengers waiting at the Heathrow airport for more than 10 hours even without a drink of water. Vey uncouth and unprofessional. Booking with them was a grave mistake. Strongly not recommended. Stay away from Air Canada and you will be safe. Not fit for the travel industry. Shame on them.

Money hungry airlines

My 2 year old, 3 year old, wife and I were booked to fly from Montreal to Edmonton for 8:10AM on 04/30/2026 and were told at 7:20AM the flight was closed despite boarding starting for 7:30AM, as per our boarding passes. They said we should have been there for 5AM for a local flight we checked in for well ahead of time. This airline clearly sold our tickets and lied to us about the flight being closed. We completed online check in for this trip on 04/28/2026, while in Punta Cana Dominican Republic. Travelled to the airport in Punta Cana and boarded a 2:45PM flight to Montreal, arrived before 7PM on 4/29/26. Spoke to an Air Canada rep in Montreal asked if we could board a flight that night to help our kids get home sooner and they said the 9PM flight on 04/29/26 was fully booked. Then after showing up the morning of 04/30/26 we were told the flight is closed which is completely unprofessional. They sold our seats and have zero respect for people’s time and don’t consider families travelling with young kids. Stay away if you can stay far away from this clown show. I’ve been travelling internationally for almost 2 decades and have never been late for a flight or missed a flight until today’s events.

Very bad

Bearware, don't fly Air Canada! They e absolutely terrible. Flew with them once and they changed my connecting flight while I was in the air and completely change my trip. Went home a day late and had to stay overnight in Canada and they didn't want to give me a hotel until i made a big deal in the airport and yelled at them. They ended up losing my stroller and delayed my bags. They gave me a coupon as an apology, which i used to book a second trip and absolutely regret it. Can't get to my destination now because of them and now they are blaming and don't want to reimburse me.

I used their flight from Montreal to Japan.
13 hours flight. Their Wifi was down. Entertainment system was down. Imagine 13 hours in a flight with no entertainment. At the end they gave a coupon code to save 15% in next flight for a maximum of 50$ saving. What a joke.

Booked a cheap flight to barcelona back 6 months ago. Was thinking that air canada was going to find away to charge me extra, I assumed it would be at check in. I was right, even though about 40% of the seats were available at checkin I was placed row 21 d my partner assigned 22d. When I went to modify assigned seats, the cost was $85 each plus tax! Next time not going to pay. There you go air canada, you get an extra $170, i give you the 1 star review you deserve!

Air Canada has yet again shown its lack of customer property

Air Canada has yet again shown its lack of professionalism and abilities to supply the public with a satisfying product. Flying back from Maui and returning to Vancouver we found our bags had been left behind along with 20 other customers. The luggage was taken off the jet for more fuel as we were flying into a head wind and the jet was full. This is understandable. But you think Air Canada may use some logic and leave packages that are labelled perishable on the jet. Cooler with $1200 of mahi mahi and tuna caught on a sportfishing trip. Here in Vancouver we were assured that Air Canada would keep the cooler in a refrigerated unit while waiting for the next flight. Then Air Canada updates indicated our luggage was on the flight from Honolulu the next day, but our air tags showed them still there after the jet left. Our friends got their luggage the next day, but ours were still in Honolulu. 2 ½ days later we finally received our luggage and cooler. The fish had all gone bad, dry ice has a 24 hr life. Air Canada can not be trusted with precious or valuable cargo and should prioritize perishable items for their clients, but they again show no concern for their customers.
