"Third world" mentality
Nothing worse than a so called "developed" country with a so called "third world" mentality. Rampant at this badly organised, amateur airport. Terrible customer service and nasty people at check in and customs.
Bad bus service
If you are on an early morning flight out of this airport there is no public bus service from the west of Costa del Sol! We had to pay 140 euro in a taxi from Sabinilas - twice the price of our air ticket! Come on it’s 2023 in the busiest tourist area in Europe!
My experience never again
Suitcase sent down the chute without being labelled.
Security took ages due to old fashioned process.
Then had to walk to a totally different area which was a good 5-10 min walk to go through passport control.
Duty free tiny and then got through to the lounge to there being coffee shop only.
It is like being back in the 70's terrible.
My advice is have a drink and something to eat if you want before you even attempt to do security as you will be very disappointed.
There is no structuur
There is no structuur, chaotic and the employees are busy. There is too little employees to run this big airport.
No help
Massive long queues for baggage drop off as well as for security check, at any time of the day.
Even then when you have done 2 hours of wait for everything, you have another queue for passport check.
If you are running late for any reason don’t expect any of the stuff members to help you, as this was my case, and the lady said ‘you should have come earlier then!’ And then ignored me.
Having in mind I almost lost my flight because of the waiting for my passport check, baggage drop off and security check, she did not had any right to disrespect or judge.
Terrible experience
Just went through this airport yesterday to return home at it was horrendous, massive queues ,no coordination, no staff controlling the crowds of people all trying to get through security absolute shambles. Wont be flying there for a while it was a disgrace
Had the misfortune to go through this…
Had the misfortune to go through this airport today. Over an hour to get through security then faced with a queue almost the length of the airport for passport control . Absolute shambles with nobody around to stop queue dodgers. Just got to flight in time but guess others missed theirs. Avoid at all costs.
What a total disgrace of an airport
What a total disgrace of an airport. More like a cattle market in secuity. Staff at security gate there to help you?? Absolutely not rude as could not give a dam. Having said that pleasant lady on check in and at gate.
I get there are queues but the way in which they handle them is absolutely mental no system what so ever ram people in its an accident waiting to happen. An experience I don't want to repeat
Intimidating security control
I had to comment on the aggressive and intimidating security control. I had a male security employee in my personal space talking right into my face in Spanish. He was egregiously rude and deliberately went out of his way to make me feel uncomfortable. These people need to have better training on how to deal with travellers and more importantly how to smile. I am beyond words and disgusted.
Rude horrible security acting like…
Rude horrible security acting like prison wardens. I was left shaking at their rudeness because I can’t understand their shouting in Spanish.
Extremely aggressive security control
Security control is aggressive and makes lots of commands in spanish to non speaking spanish travelers.
When I asked to get the aggressive commands in English, the nearby male Security employee freaked out, walked closer to me and shouted extremely aggressive lots of spanish commands followed by the words “Chinese, Chinese”.
Extremely uncomfortable and surprisingly non professional behavior in an international airport with thousands of English speaking travelers.
Absolute shambles of an airport.
Absolute shambles of an airport. Too many queues, too few staff deal with the busy periods. Family and I have just had the worst experience we've ever had at an airport, which is full of staff who just don't care. We arrived when advised, only to watch time tick slowly away to our gate closing as we stood in queue after queue first at baggage drop, then oversize baggage drop, security, passport control and then being sent to the wrong gate by misfunctioning screens. We were given very little help in getting to our gate on time, and ended up dragging our 4 and 6 year old girls from pillar to post trying to get on our flight and I wouldn't be surprised if they shudder at the thought of going near another airport. The only member of staff with a shred of compassion was the lady at the gate who did all she could to calm my wife down.
Malaga airport
Lovely spacious airport, lots of good facilities, lots of bars and restaurants, however, I thought security staff were rude, treating us like prisoners
Traumatised
Traumatised by the dangerous queuing to get through passport control into Spain. Please Malaga Airport listen. Police presence would be a start. Parents with small children beware.
What a joke
What a joke. Over powered Securidad muppets who's only job is to be a total muppet and judt be a wannabe official.
Airport is typical Spanish dopes who really have the British People and loave the idea we self rule now. If they actually ran a proper way and had enough jumped prats on the x Ray and did a proper jib of security we would get through a lot quicker.
This is the worst Airport in the world.
I love this airport
I love this airport! all the signs are so clear, the airport is clean. Great choice of food. Well done!
Everything inside the airport works…
Everything inside the airport works well. Outside pick up and drop off not so good.

Used to be good but it seems the spanish authorities are keener on sending marketing trips to uk than employing border staff. Dreadful queues and virtually no staff.
Same today, 18 Nov, departing

My mother has mobility problems and received excellent service from all staff without asking she was seen through security area quickly to prevent her standing too long. When queueing for the toilet at the airport a lovely male cleaner called her and showed her to the disabled toilet and then when sitting waiting at the gate a member of staff noticed her walking stick and came over and told her to stay there not to join the boarding queue he would come and get her and give her time to board before the other passengers. An excellent service
No hassle travel scenario
Been using Malaga airport for decades (back in the days when it was the old concrete building filled with an unorganised football crowd of travellers) and for the last ten years or so have had no complaints.
A recent visit saw up processed by customs and Covid inspectorate in a few minutes; luggage arrived almost as soon as we left customs.
A total of twenty minutes from stepping out of plane to pulling away in a taxi.* Superb service.
Return flight, we expected the departure chaos seen in UK airports but encountered none.
Jumped in a taxi for arrival at start of the requested two hour departure time log-in period and arrived to virtual calm.
No UK long queues into airport or crowded concourse areas - simply walked to airline check in and dealt with promptly after a short wait, less than twenty minutes later and we’d passed both check in and security.
Compared to our departure and subsequent arrival back in UK our time in Malaga airport was a delight!
* Taxis in Spain are invariably clean, nearly new vehicles, no matter the operating company.
Our pickup in Birmingham was almost exactly that - clapped out old estate car with nil suspension and rattles from every part of the car …
I know why, but dare not say why UK hire cabs are total piles of junk …
