Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 137 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found essential product features, such as live viewing and recording, unexpectedly locked behind mandatory subscriptions, rendering their devices useless without payment. Customers frequently reported that their doorbell cameras and other products stopped working reliably or failed to perform core functions like detecting movement. The associated application was often criticized for issues including continuous logouts, slow connection times, and intrusive advertisements. Additionally, many felt misled as products initially advertised with free features later required payment, leading to frustration and some facing unexpected and high subscription fees. Reviewers also reported difficulties canceling recurring charges and noted unresponsiveness from customer service when trying to resolve product or payment issues.

Avoid AIWIT video door bell camera

Avoid AIWIT video door bell camera! Massive bait-and-switch scam.

Absolute waste of money. After two years of ownership, AIWIT has blocked my camera. First, it was forced ads; now, the camera won’t work at all unless I pay a £120 annual subscription fee. That’s more expensive than the camera itself. Customer service is non existent and ignores all chat messages. They are essentially bricking old devices to force people into overpriced subscriptions. Save your money and buy from a reputable brand that offers local storage or free basic viewing.

Avoid!!!

I purchased two doorbells from this company and it claimed to have free live video and no subscription needed for 3 days of video playback.
After a couple of months I was forced to pay a subscription if I wanted to watch videos back. I subscribed to one device for 2 years. Poor quality, lagging videos and did not always work unless someone stood by it for over a minute, so I cancelled the subscription.
Now I can not even use the live feature on either doorbell without it asking me to pay. I have 2 devices I can not use.
Avoid this company!

Do not buy!

Had my door bell a few years now but, following the latest software update, I’m no longer able to use it without subscribing to their cloud service.

Breaking the law (UK)

I purchased an Aiwit security camera based on clear advertising that live viewing would be free, with only recorded videos requiring a paid cloud subscription.

At the time of purchase, the Amazon listing explicitly stated:
“You can see live and talk to visitors using the camera, but can’t watch recorded videos.”

Following a recent app update, live view is now completely blocked unless you pay for a subscription. Even activating the advertised free trial does not restore live viewing. This removes a core function that was clearly promised at the time of sale.

As a result, the camera is now largely unusable without ongoing payment, despite being sold as a product that allowed free live viewing. Changing app functionality after purchase to paywall an advertised feature is extremely misleading.

Important for other customers:
If you bought this camera based on the promise of free live view, you may be entitled to a refund from the retailer (e.g. Amazon), as the product is no longer as described under UK consumer law. I recommend:
• Contacting the retailer (not just Aiwit)
• Quoting the original listing text about live viewing being free
• Stating that the product no longer matches its description

I would strongly advise anyone considering Aiwit products to be aware that features advertised as free may later be locked behind a subscription.

DO NOT buy Aiwit Cameras

DO NOT buy Aiwit Cameras. There is no live view now unless you subscribe to their cloud account. If you don't cameras are useless.

Do not buy this, you cant even view the doorbell now

Do not buy this. If was pretty unusable before but you had live view of the doorbell.
.in the last week theyve turned off live view unless you pay for a subscription. Classy.... disgraceful.

The doorbell is now absolutely useless you cant even monitor the doorbell despite it only using your own WiFi.

Really underhand in that you've bought a doorbell and cant even see whos there unless you pay a year subscription

Shocking to do this and hold people to ransom and remove all features completely. You get no notifications, no live view ,no recordings nothing at all now.

Check the doorbell you're buying doesn't use Aiwit before you buy it. It's useless and the company is a disgrace.

Never purchase any products from this…

Never purchase any products from this company. When I bought the door camera, there was no mention at all about a subscription. At first, still can view without paying, slower they remove some service and request you to subscribe. Now even worst, you totally can't see only if you subscribe. It feels like customers are given no real choice but to subscribe. I honestly feel cheated. I feel this company really cheapo. I’d rather throw all my cameras away than subscribe their service. I don't know when they will come out new things to ask you to pay more.

Its a scam alright

Its a scam alright. If you have any intelligence don't be sucked in. I had it placed on my phone for my birthday by an ambulance driver and from the inception, I could not hear anyone and they could not hear me. Waste of time. This happened no matter what I did. Now it has completely stopped working, because surprise surprise they are trying to force me to subscribe. No way is that going to happen, (when I hear its £30+) and it is a lousy service. If anyone recommends it to you, like they did me, don't purchase it.

Doorbell subscription scam

Paid a subscription which worked for several months then suddenly hit with ads to review doorbell footage. Service chat asked for evidence of purchase so I sent them a screenshot of my subscription through Google PlayStore together with the transaction from my bank.
Despite several rounds of communication, they were adamant i hadn't paid. It was by then too late for my bank to recharge. Very clever!
Avoid these scammers!

AVOID!!!!

I AM RELUCTANT TO GIVE ONE STAR.
I purchased on the understanding that cloud would be free for life. Then they charged for cloud storage. Then you couldn't view live without being confronted with subscription requests. A day or so ago they started preventing you from using live view without accepting a three day free trial subscription. This aggressive marketing is not acceptable. We must all write to consumer protection and Which. I am walking away and getting cameras with local storage. I have served on the Board of a national company and would have been alarmed if my company had adopted such tactics because like me, I suspect that others will now walk away. So sad to see a company shoot itself in the foot.

Useless. Do not buy

Why can't I use something that I've paid for without a subscription?! Do not buy this. I can't even see my ring doorbell now as all it keeps saying it 'subscribe'. I've paid for the device, I shouldn't need a subscription for it to work. Fuming!

Seems to be a scam of sorts

All started fairly well. Easy to set up although an extremely high pitch constant whistle from the chime. You get used to it.
Offers for subscription to past recordings, which I opted not to take.
This was then replaced with seemingly free access to the recordings for watching several long adverts for each days recordings.
However, this now seems to have been replaced with an "Enjoy 3 days free subscription" message when you try to view the live video. Closing this window still doesn't allow you to view the camera.
Contacting support previously no issue, now states I do not have a device set up, when clearly I do.
Avoid all products from this company and DO NOT fall for the price trap.
