Avoid Alamo/Enterprise in Spain

Avoid Alamo/Enterprise in Spain. I had a confirmed reservation at Alicante Airport, only to be told by a shuttle driver that no cars were available. No alternative, no "sub-out" rental, just total abandonment.

I have been dealing with Case E5LZ/1593344259 since Feb 25th. I was promised a 5-day resolution by "Joby" and then a "matter of urgency" escalation by "Lucy"(generated assistants in my opinion). Since then? Absolute silence. It is now March 19th. This company does not honor its bookings and clearly does not value long-term customers. Disgraceful management failure.

WARNING: Predatory Roadside Fees and Total Lack of Transparency

Do not rent from Alamo/Enterprise in Switzerland (Geneva Airport) unless you want to be price-gouged for basic services. I had a flat tire on 12/31 near Oulx, and the experience that followed was nothing short of a scam.

1. The 750 CHF Tire Change: We were only 8km from the service town. We were fully prepared to change the tire ourselves, but after calling for guidance, Alamo sent a truck without EVER disclosing the cost. They charged a staggering 750 CHF (nearly $870 USD) just to swap a spare tire—no towing involved, just a 15-minute roadside visit. For comparison, our companions had a car TOWED in the same area for a fraction of that price.

2. Zero Disclosure: At no point during the rental pickup or the service call did Alamo mention that roadside assistance was not included or provide a price estimate. Had they been honest about the 750 CHF fee, we would have finished the job ourselves.

3. Claims Nightmare: To make matters worse, their administrative department is incompetent. My US-based insurance company requires a standard "Demand Letter" to process the claim, but Alamo refuses to provide the proper documentation, instead sending vague billing statements that have been repeatedly rejected. They are effectively blocking my ability to get reimbursed for their own exorbitant charges.

Bottom line: This company waits until you are in a vulnerable position (stranded in winter) to hit you with unconscionable fees. Their "service" is a profit-generating trap. Save yourself the headache and the money—rent elsewhere.

If I could give them 0 stars

If I could give them 0 stars, I would.

I prepaid for my 4x4 rental and they called me to cancel the morning of my flight because they had no AWD or 4WD vehicles available. This caused me to have to scramble at the last minute to find a vehicle for twice the price. It has been 2 weeks and I had multiple phone calls. Wasted time on hold, and ended up having to go through Customer Service and now Escalations to find out that I will receive my refund in 20 business days from today. Worse, if I had not called, they would not have initiated the refund. The lady was even rude enough to hang up on me. NEVER RENT FROM ALAMO!

STAY AWAY.

I always used Alamo at Atlanta but after September 25 mess up I won't ever use them again. I won't go into the whole story it's a long one but in short I booked a vehicle they didn't have on my arrival so gave me another vehicle at twice the price without explaining the final cost, and I've been trying just to get their imaginary customer service help ever since. No apologies no contact with me apart from time wasting emails passing me from one person to another and no help or actions taken. It's now March 26 and the last email I received said the email I had will not be monitored anymore, great customer service. Stay away if you don't want to be ripped off. My booked car was 800 dollars I payed 1900 dollars.

Worst rental company

I was stuck at an airport and tried to drive home. The company can take debit cards in certain situations. Despite me having no other way home, they refused to take my debit card. I offered another card number and they refused.

I had a tire blow out recently call to get assistance with n help. They wouldn't send a tow-truck nor anyone to BRING a tire, to get me back on the road. The vehicle did not have a spare tire. I, along with my 3 children sat on the side of rural road for over 12 hrs. The call center is a scam. They kept using the " if you don't feel say, call the police,' rebuttal. Each time I called in hopes of getting assistance they would either not allow me to speak, say there were no available drivers to send to you to get you to the next alamo, or hang up. But low and behold, when a family member called Uber they were there in less than 8 minutes. But allow said for over 12 hours there were no available drivers, Uber, taxi available. Never do business with them.

Alamo Rent Car Ruins Family Trip

For a family trip, I rented a Linault Traffic van, picked up at the Nice Airport Alamo and returned it at the Avignon TGV train station. On the last day of my return, I left the key in the front seat and closed the door. It didn't even lock, so I couldn't return it. Avignon Alamo demanded a 3,500 euro deposit and repeatedly delayed opening the door. Only now, 15 days later, did they finally send me a bill for a new key. I sent them only the Alamo statement, without any receipts. Despite dozens of calls and emails, I received no response. They didn't answer my calls, and when they did, they simply hung up, telling me not to call them again. My family had been planning this trip for three years, but this incident ruined it. Family conflicts arose, and constant worry kept me awake, leaving me in constant agony. Alamo, a global company, had such a poor system and unfriendly customer service. They didn't even provide a second key, their processing speed was incredibly slow, and I wasn't even briefed on the progress. I will report this unfair treatment of Alamo in the future and hope that you will not rent from Alamo like this.

Unlawful charge and safety hazard

Unlawful charge and safety hazard – AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Deplorable experience with the Alamo/Enterprise agency at Bordeaux Train Station (contract 2H19FY). They rented me a vehicle with a slashed tire, cleverly hidden on the sidewall. They put my family’s safety at risk.
Despite timestamped photos taken BEFORE the contract was signed (at 12:40 PM for a contract signed at 12:45 PM) proving the damage was pre-existing, and despite reporting a low-pressure warning shortly after departure, the agency forced a €305 charge on my credit card without any invoice or signed return inspection.
I had to handle the maintenance of THEIR vehicle myself during my vacation, and they have the nerve to charge me for it! This is a dishonest rental company that ignores blatant evidence and has never deigned to reply to my emails since the very first day of the rental.
A formal legal notice (LRAR) has been sent, a report to the French fraud authorities (SignalConso) has just been filed, and a criminal complaint for "Abuse of Trust" (fraudulent use of credit card authorization) will be filed within 48 hours unless a full refund is issued. I will not let this go.
I have been renting cars at Bordeaux Saint-Jean at least 3 times a year for over 10 years with various companies and have NEVER had a single issue. This is my first and definitely my last time with Alamo.
Flee for your safety, your peace of mind, and your wallet.

I do not recommend using Alamo services!!!

I do not recommend using the services of this company. We had a reserved car at the airport in Barcelona in Spain, the plane was delayed. When you want to report a plane delay, the Carflexi phone number is repeatedly unavailable, the call is interrupted, the operator speaks very poor English. The car rental employee is very rude, she refused to rent us a car because we arrived half an hour late and for other fictitious reasons. They even refused to return the deposit we paid! In Barcelona, the behavior of local people towards tourists is very bad, there is a lot of writing about it on the Internet. I think they did not rent us a car on purpose, because we had to rent another worse car from another rental company for three times the price. They say there was no other at the time. Be careful with Alamo and be careful when traveling to Barcelona. There are frequent signs saying No turistas and people are hostile towards tourists.

I rented a vehicle through Alamo Rent A…

I rented a vehicle through Alamo Rent A Car in Cape Town Southafrica (15–18 February 2026).

A €975 deposit was taken.

Alamo has replied: “Please note your deposit has been released in full.”

However, €975 has been fully debited from my bank account — this is not a pending authorisation, it is a completed charge.

The transaction appears to have been processed by an Avis agency, which belongs to the same group.

€975 has been taken from my account without any justification or explanation.

Alamo now says they are not responsible.

If the deposit has truly been released, please provide official banking proof (ARN number and release date), as my bank confirms the payment was captured.

I am requesting urgent clarification.

Reservation number: CPTT72-23674.

Lost Item- No courtesy calls- Never found!!!!!

Within half of an hour of returning a car to Alamo at YEG Airport, I called for my son's glasses being left in the trunk. The CSR physically went to check to tell me the car has already been rented to someone. Three weeks passed not a courtesy call from Alamo or any follow ups. It was my first time renting from Alamo and Im sure it would be my last.

Watch when renting Alamo at Mexico City. They over charged me 583 dollars for a "no license and no registration" fee from the corrupted police down there. Alamo or any other car rental company can't rent anybody without a license and they provide the car registration.
They don't care and charge you whatever they want after you drop the car and you are out of the country.

I am extremely disappointed with my…

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Alamo Rent A Car at the Miami S Beach Collins location (4332 Collins Ave, Miami Beach).

I specifically reserved a Mustang Convertible for our trip. Upon arrival, the vehicle was not available and we were given a Toyota pickup instead. We were instructed by staff to drive to Key West and exchange the vehicle there. Unfortunately, when we arrived in Key West, the convertible was again unavailable.

Since then, I have sent multiple follow-up emails requesting either the reserved vehicle or a reasonable rate adjustment reflecting the difference in vehicle class. To date, I have not received a proper resolution.

I understand that availability issues can happen, but when a specific vehicle class is confirmed at booking, customers reasonably expect that commitment to be honored — or at minimum fairly compensated when it is not.

The lack of proactive communication and failure to provide a clear solution has been very disappointing and has negatively impacted our trip experience.

I hope management reviews this matter seriously and improves how confirmed reservations are handled in the future.
