Bad experience
Took more than 6 months to complete conveyancing, it would take longer if all people on the chain didn't put pressure on them. As a result of their delay my mortgage offer has expired and the new one was on higher rate. Very difficult to communicate, every reply from them takes weeks, very rude and incompetent response. They've applied for the land registration 4 months after the completion of the purchase. This is the worst conveyancer I had to deal with and would not recommend at all, in fact I would encourage to avoid this company.

Efficient and good communication
Efficient and good communication. What more can you ask for.
First home purchase
We used Alexander Grace Law for the purchase of our first home as our lender had a limited range of solicitors on their panel.
We were allocated to team Mercer and Kate & the team worked very hard to meet our tight deadline. We had a 3 month mortgage offer and with recent developments there was no way of extending, Kate and the team had a massive part in getting us in before the deadline!
From reading some of the negative reviews please remember that there are so many factors involved, it took 6 weeks for the vendors solicitor to reply to Alexander Grace Law. Also, AGL was £1000 cheaper than my local firm and that has made a big difference to us.
Thank you Kate and the rest of team mercer!
Absolutely fantastic service thank you…
Absolutely fantastic service thank you fast efficient and amber was so helpful and amenable thank you xx
We have been really looked after
We have been looked after by Amber during our remortgage, she was quick to respond, knowledgeable and just really helpful.
She made the whole experience so much nicer to go through and helped direct us to another colleague for some other things we needed to take care.
Appalling
Sadly, alike many of these recent reviews we have not had a positive experience with these solicitors. Our purchase was unnecessarily dragged out and this whole experience made very stressful by them. From the outset we had to continually chase not just for ‘updates’ but for communication full stop, for example, an introduction? Largely unhelpful from day one these solicitors took no time to introduce themselves to us - their clients. In particular, the case solicitor Michael never made himself known to us or took the time to talk to us about our case that he was supposedly “in charge” of. Failed to take ownership of their actions which included lying to us, the estate agents and the sellers solicitors despite email trace evidence of said lies. Each individual you speak to (over email of course as their phone line does not appear to work unless taking your money?) will tell you a different, ‘updated’ version of events. At various points we would all receive different excuses as to why something was not done or could not be done. Had the truth been told from day one across the board on such matters this could have been an entirely different experience for all. On the whole very incompetent - a word that I do not throw around freely or lightly and of which these solicitors were extremely defensive of being. How is it that you cannot even structure basic emails? Very unprofessional. Rude. Give attitude. I have never known a company of people so unenthusiastic and unwilling to do their job. Thankfully with constant chasing (emailing and calling non stop) we managed to push our purchase through last minute - this was both worrying and stressful as we nearly lost our property all together not to mention exhausting when working full time then on of this top running around doing your solicitors jobs for them! The worst solicitors we have dealt with to date. We will not recommend (as they were to us) or use them again.

Incompetent beyond measure
They give a new meaning to the word incompetence. I would say it's a circus but would be an unfair insult to actual clowns.
It took them three weeks, a dozen emails and phone calls, just to confirm they indeed received an email, which we send four times. It will probably take another month to read that email.
It's been 18 weeks, they missed every important deadline, and just refuse to communicate when they will be able to do their job. The solicitors, their managers, and directors of the firm couldn't care less.
All good , was in a hurry and these guys delivered
I was in a hurry after the building society delayed everything and these guys delivered on time and were really helpful and put up with my hassles and pesterings very well. Special mention to Cherish who was even dealing with my case while on leave. I do appreciate that.
Morgage Application
Cherish Elliot was so helpful and friendly with the process of our mortgage application and explained anything I didn’t understand very efficient.
Excellent, professional, prompt service.
It's the second time that I have used Alexander Grace for my buy to let mortgages. They offer an excellent, professional, prompt service. Thank you.
Luke has been been amazing
Luke has been been amazing, from the minute we started using AGL, Luke has looked after my branch so well. He goes up and beyond for me. He puts everyone else first before himself. There's nobody else i would work with other than him. He's a legend and a credit to AGL. Thanks Team haart Doncaster
Impeccable service for selling my house!
I would like to recommend the impeccable service at the highest professional level for the sale of my home. In particular Luke and Rebecca were always there and their teamwork with the estate agent and solicitor of the buyer was exemplary. In a very difficult past year they all managed to exceed expectations and communicate clearly and effectively with all parties involved. Thank you so much for the excellent work from start to finish!!!
So it’s a mixed bag
So it’s a mixed bag, our first paralegal was a nightmare, no return calls, inconsistent explanations for progress and generally not great! However, once Cassie took over the progress improved dramatically and without her efficiency I do t we would have got this across the line! If you use them for a sale then ask for Cassie, she is no nonsense and effective!
Overall positive, Luke great case handler.
Overall our experience of AGL has been positive, our initial case handler Sammi Keeley was very organised and responsive and we felt good progress was made. However we did hit some bumps in the road when she left the firm and for a while the service was poor and we were passed around from pillar to post with a temporary case handler. However towards the end of the sale our case was inherited by Luke Swarbrick and we can honestly say he transformed the experience for us. He was easy to get hold off by phone, and was organised, polite, friendly and helpful. He managed to chase the other side sufficiently and we were able to complete when we wanted to despite the sellers solicitors being difficult to deal with. If you have Luke as your case handler you are in for a great service and a smooth ride and we can recommend AGL on this basis along with our original case handler who was very good. I hope our personal bumps in the road in the middle of the process were down to the changeover of staff and nothing else but overall a good experience.
If you want your sanity, do not use AGL.
To be very honest, its taken a year to do this. AGL was an awful experience for me when purchasing a property, so its taken a while to put this down.
Marie Baker Smith and her "team", a team thats only job is to stop you (the client) from contacting her. The team was beyond useless, couldn't send an email was when requested, they needed chasing every single day, or more then once a day. Emails we're not responded to, dates passed, no information on the state of the purchase was given, and it took so long I had to give up with the first property. What that meant was did I switch to another lawyer, or stick with the one that I'd already proved my identity. Thinking id give them the benefit of the doubt, that perhaps other factors had halted the first property, I carried on with AGL.
It was a mistake. More weeks of chasing, on a property that already had all its documents recently made, it should've been an easy purchase. But the same thing happened. No contact from AGL, money sent to management company not done correctly so lost for a period. I could go on, but you get the idea.
If you want your sanity, do not use AGL.
Named solicitor with guaranteed world class customer experience
I would fully recommend anybody who is looking at using Alexander Grace Law to personally ask for Cherish to be their solicitor. What a fantastic service, communication and overall superb experience you will receive from her. Best in the business A+++
A Good Recommendation
My financial advisor recommended them. The whole process of remortgaging was efficient and easy the only delay was the estate agent on my end, otherwise all went very smoothly and quickly. They were a pleasure to do business with.
Right to Buy
We recently used AGL for the purchase of our council flat.
We dealt with Hayley's Team, at the beginning it was difficult getting through to them and the process was moving very sorry. However, the delay was not from their side but as we progressed everything started moving and they were on the case and kept updating us on the progress.
They managed to complete the exchange before the mortgage decline and were very happy with their service.
I would definitely recommend them.

I recently used Alexander Grace Law for the conveyancing on the sale of my house and the purchase of my new house. Hollie Anderson was my point of contact. From day one she looked after everything, keeping me up to date with proceedings almost daily. At no time did i feel unsure about anything. I would highly recommend AGL and in particular Hollie Anderson. Thank you Hollie for your great service.
