I wrote a claim to customer service, after having been redirected by KLM. This was over 3 months ago. No reply, nothing. Absolutely horrendous and a mockery to the term customer service.

Dreadful. €1200 ticket business Nice to Malaga via Rome. No lounge. Strike that no Alitalia lounge in Rome airport! No priority lines, no food, no nothing. Topped off by Dictatorial yet inefficient security. What is the point? Worth going (well) out of your way to use BA or Lufthansa.

The worse air company ever

The worse air company ever: terrible, rude customer service. During Covid 19 I was trying to return tickets, they simply lied to me: first they said take voucher, in a year, you can get your money back, after a year, they said, policy changed. Please, avoid using ALITALIA, they are unreliable

Incredibly rude and unhelpful operators

I agree with previous reviewers that customer service is very poor. I called several times in the last couple of days for clarifications on my upcoming trip and was treated quite aggressively, frequently interrupted and offered incorrect information. Two male operators, apparently answering from Albania, were both incredibly rude and unhelpful beyond belief.
Other interactions with Alitalia have been a better.

Refund for COVID cancellation

I have been trying for some time now to get hold of someone at Alitalia to request a refund for tickets cancelled due to COVID 19 but the call center just does not pick up. There is an entry ban in place and South Africans cannot enter Europe. I will not be able to use vouchers and want a refund for 4 tickets purchased.

Rude and unhelpful.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. It takes over an hour to get through to someone.

I called them twice the agents are disinterested, unhelpful, very rude. First time was to book a new flight. I could hardly hear the guy on the phone it was so quiet. He sounded bored and disengaged.

I called a second time a woman answered I had called this time to make a change to my flights. I was told that this wasn't possible when I had already made a change. I hadnt but I had bought a new flight. She said I had already made a change to the booking so another change was not possible. When I called before it was to buy an new flight, I was not changing my booking to Rome I was going from Rome to somewhere else.

I was told this isn't possible as I had already made a change. I said no one told me that this was classed as a change. She repeated herself again in a very disinterested tone that I would have to phone back 24 hours before my flight. I asker her why and she hung up.

I emailed via rhw website to be told to call the call centere.

The agebts at the call centre are rude and unhelpful. Its a waste of time going with this airline. AVOID

I am giving 1* because it is not…

I am giving 1* because it is not possible to give less. They cancelled my flight by mystake which I only discovered once at the airport. Have made only partial rembursement, not reimbursed at all the additional costs I incurred because of their mystake and today I have been trying calling for the last 4 hours both to the UK and Italy numbers and NO ONE ANSWERING the phone. Is there anything worse than this?

Never have I experienced such terrible service …

Never have I experienced worse customer service. After waiting on hold for over an hour the agent was rude, mocking, told me that I had wasted “15 minutes and 13 seconds” of her life and ultimately became so angry that she refused to issue the refund and told me that because she didn’t like the experience she had had with me I would have to call back and wait on hold for another hour to even begin to get my money back. She refused to let me speak to with anyone else and she hung up on me. DO NOT EVER USE THIS AIRLINE.

Awful customer service

Awful customer service, rude staff and inflexible attitude when talking with their staff. The 1st representative I spoke to even put the phone down when I told her that I would not fly Alitalia again.
They changed my ticket from Genua to Rome (I was flying from Rome to Athens on a 2nd leg). The flight change from Genua meant I now had an 8 hour layover in Rome and would have to get up at 3am to catch the new 06:55 flight time.
I called earlier today to change the flight, as it looked like I could get to Rome by car but this proved impossible.
I now called again to get a refund but Alitalia staff are unwilling to refund the money saying I already changed the ticket. Completely unreasonable.

Hello? Just another company with deceptive patterns

It seems that this company is not aware about the current worldwide situation due to COVID, travel restrictions and requested isolation periods. My family and I were supposed to travel in Italy and Greece during summer 2020. Of course life happened and trips had to be cancelled, so we got 12 months validity vouchers. Once again, we were planning to do that trip this summer, 2021, but again, the COVID situation is not improving. Customer service cannot refund, nor extend the vouchers validity for 2022, nor give us credit so other people can use it to buy tickets. Even though the customer service agent was polite, these company's policies are lacking empathy and it seems pretty obvious they just want to get away with our money - I can't even imagine how many people are in the same situation we are. It's the lack of exceptions and understanding what will definitely me keep me far from booking flights with Alitalia again.

The worst European airline

Honestly speaking, it genuinely infuriates me to think about Alitalia. To me, this is the worst European air company: unreliable, disrespectful to customers and finally, a real fraud.
Let’s be more specific. Last year, Alitalia canceled my flight from Bologna to Palermo (via Roma) without any replacement offers. I completed a form required by Alitalia for a refund and 11/20/20 they sent me email, that Alitalia issued a refund to my credit card account for e-ticket (RFND NBR:0550491509993; Ticket Refunded: 0552347563314).

However, this refund was never sent to my Bank. I checked with the Bank a couple of times and then, sent email to Alitalia customer service. In response, I immediately got auto-reply email requiring calling their USA customer service.
I called Alitalia “USA customer service”, in fact located in Tirana, Albania. They told me that I need to wait for 90 days because there are too many refunds.
Fine! In 4 months I sent a new email and got the same auto-reply.
Btw, I've never got any other emails from them - only auto-replies, which were sent from "no-reply" address
I called again to “USA” customer service. This time, a representative assured me that a refund will be sent in 72 hours and he’ll call me about this.
As I expected, there were no refund and no call.
In a couple of weeks, I sent another email, got one more auto-reply and called to Albanian (means USA!) Alitalia customer service. This time, a representative listened to my long boring story and … just hung up on me.

During last year, as many of us, I’ve experienced a number of flight cancellations. All American and European air companies refunded their cancelled flights, including low-cost ones (like Vueling), but only Alitalia did not fulfill its obligations. This is why Alitalia is to me the worst European air company: unreliable, disrespectful to customers and finally, a real fraud.
Definitely, I’ll try my best never to use Alitalia and do not recommend this company to any travelers. Further, I will provide my review for Alitalia online and inform Consumer Affairs to look into these fraudulent dealings.

Absolute joke

It’s 2021 and Alitalia still doesn’t let you check in or add a baggage online.
I had to pay twice the price at the airport and when I asked the hostess she didn’t even know why but kept being rude for the whole check in progress.
I tried to call and email them but I’ve been completely ignored.
I can see here reading Trustpilot reviews that everyone is experiencing this.
After all they keep getting money from the Italian government.
Absolute joke.
