I wrote a claim to customer service, after having been redirected by KLM. This was over 3 months ago. No reply, nothing. Absolutely horrendous and a mockery to the term customer service.

Customer service the worst

**update: the phone line goes dead now. 3 calls this morning.

Customer service the worst. Spent two days calling. Average wait-time 35minutes. The line dropped 13 times once someone responded. Finally spoke to someone on the 14th. The computer could not accept the voucher. Was to be called back in "an hour"...that was 7 hours ago.

All because they made a massive mistake, and gave me a voucher for my flight to make up for their mistake.

This is the national airline of an EU country, a G7 country. AND their English messages are also completely erroneous, that they seem like someone learned new English words from their teenage child.

This airline is a joke. It's a company run by adults that act like children. Their whole system is about avoiding customers and efficiency. Avoid.

1 star because I could not give 0

1 star because I could give 0. The guy shouted at me hung up on me twice, refused to give his name saying it could be John, Michael or whatever I wanted, said there was no supervisor and tat he was the only one ( admittedly I called 3 times and the same person picked up). I asked him not to shout and he said that he talks straight and that’s his voice….honestly It wasn’t even listening or letting me speak…horrible experience and I’m Italian so I hate to give such a bad review, unfortunately it’s not the first time I have had bad experience with Alitalia customer service but I’m stuck with them due to my destination.
I recorded the phone call on my last call it was a disgusting experience that guy had no manners and should be trained on how to deal and simply speak with people.

Makes me want to puke!

Terrible!! I think the rudest customer service I’ve ever had the pain to speak to! He shouted at me on the phone, denied me to speak to a manager because he didn’t “want to” - he also gave me a fake name - BRIAN. Alitalia took my money and my miles and now “Brian” is not refunding them back to me.
CRAZY!!

Avoid! Use British Airways if you can!

Alitalia does not know how to spell customer service. Totally unprofessional.

This is one of the worst companies I had to deal with.

In Nov 2020, we had to cancel our flights Zurich - Rome due to a health emergency. I rang Alitalia beforehand to establish the correct procedure. They asked for a doctor's statement and promised a refund. We submitted all the documents and waited patiently. Calling their customer dept in December we heard that they are still dealing with the case which was an outright lie, as we found out on a later all in February when they said the refund dept had turned down our request in December. No communication at all. We were left in the dark.

I spent hours on the phone and emailing - feeling totally ignored and not appreciated as a customer at all.

They never write back and on the phone they lie in your face.

British Airways was the complete opposite. Same case: we had to cancel flights and received a voucher / refund instantly! No further action was needed.

If you don't want to lose your money, time and nerves, avoid Alitalia! They take you for a ride. Not worth it!

Unprofessional bunch of liars !!!!

This is one of the worst companies I had to deal with !!! a bunch of unprofessional liars!

I've been issued two vouchers for a flight with a return for London- Rome that supposes to happen in May 2020 and canceled due to Covid 19 Pandemic.

The vouchers were issued with an expiring date of 29th April 2021.

I have called numerous times during this month, April 2021, asking what is to be done with the vouchers that are about to expire as they cannot be used due to International Ban travel from Uk.

Numerous times, I have been lied to and postponed, saying they do know about the situation, but they don t have a solution yet, that they will call, or write back, things that never happen, and that I should call by the end of the month when they will have a solution for me.

I called again as advised today, 27th only to hear that they will charge me triple the amount of the ticket I paid initially, as my voucher expires, which is not only a rip-off but a very bad way of taking more money from people.

If it is impossible to travel, and that is a governmental issue, why am I LIED and forced to book and pay triple for a ticket on top of my voucher by these lying company only to not lose the voucher ?????

Not only I spend a lot of time calling them, but the frustration is beyond understanding due to their lies.

I don t want to pay triple on top of those vouchers for a trip, I have been asked to pay 395 per person on top of a 76.90 I paid originally, wich is outrageous !!!!

Losing money, time and nerves !!!!

Terrible in flight customer service.

I'm not surprised this company has never made a profit in its history .Its in-flight customer service is appalling . The staff don't care at all about their customers . On my resent flight from Heathrow airport to Rome the staff might as well not have been on board . They don't even offer a glass of water . This is very sad because they make Ryanair look like an excellent company ! The staff didn't greet the customers on board or when they landed they just disappeared.absolutely shocking"

Possibly the worst experience. Ever.

Possibly the worst experience ever. Bar none. I was shouted at by one of their customer (DIS)service personel after I called to see what my options were with regards to an upcoming and non-refundable flight I could not longer board. I was told that my flight will be left open, but when I asked to have a confirmation for this, I was told that this was not possible (?). I very calmly explained that the since the flight was quite expensive, I would rather have confirmation that this will be left open. Is it really too much to ask, Alitalia? I wouldn't be able to book a flight just by telling you that 'yes, I will pay', so why not implementing a very simple solution that will give us peace of mind? A confirmation? It's automated these days! It seems that Alitalia does not operate this way. Top of the pops (but then, again, this is Alitalia, so don't expect anything) I got shouted at, treated like an idiot, and I was asked if I understood what the operator was saying, and that I was repeating myself in my request. All these things, from the people who are offering assistance to their paying customers. It seems to me that disservice runs high within Alitalia, and that people working on their customer service lines would benefit from a training course to refresh their skills, particularly when it comes to being empathic with a paying customer. They should also be told that to shout at a customer is never OK.
But maybe these are common, entrenched practices and nobody cares (and checks) within Alitalia. So, well done Alitalia. You're keeping up in line with all the bad reviews I have read so far. And more to come, it seems!

Cannot give negative 1

Cannot give negative numbers otherwise I would have done.
Situation: COVID pandemy and I have to go back to my residence in London.
All the seats in the line were taken without respecting any social distancing.
When I asked if it was normal, they replied that if I wanted to take all 3 seats I needed to book them.

There should be responsibility taken for social distancing by the company. They should really work on this!
