I highly recommend to avoid Alitravel

Alitravel is operated by 5viajes as we can read on the website legal info. It is a SCAM, a complete FRAUD. I booked two flights ten days ago using their website, added extra luggage and paid extra for insurance. After ten days they email me and say the reservations were canceled and asked for banking id to refund the money. They offer no explication what so ever and plus they do not refund the insurance paid for the tickets they canceled. Plus, the flights on which we were flying were not canceled as I personally checked with the companies. I wish I had searched these companies before. DO NOT USE ALITRAVEL

I tried to book a flight via Cheapflights.co.uk web site and was directed to Alitravel.
When I booked a Thomason flight last night at 20:00 they very promptly took the payment.
Then I got a notification that the booking was not confirmed until an agent had contacted me. I tried to phone the Alitravel office but they were closed so there was not going to be a call from an agent!!!
Tried to phone Alitravel this morning and the guy I spoke to said there machinery was very slow and it would be sometime today before I would know if I had a seat on the flight. sounds strange to me could be a scam.
I said thats not good enough, when your trying to get a flight on a Thomson flight with only 3 seats left.
You need to know instantaniusly that you are booked on the flight. What a dreadful company. The guy at Alitravel also said that to cancel the booking I would have to phone Thomson, phoned them and they have no booking and do not recognise the booking Ref. so that was a lie. I have now been told to wait until 19:00 the following day thats a total of 23 hour after first booking. And still no gaurantee of a seat on the flight.

AVOID ALITRAVEL

During the booking process you are given a final price, to which you can add extras (luggage etc.). At the bottom of the screen different payment card options will bring up different fees, standard practice that's fine...
Then AFTER you click to confirm and the payment has already gone through you a presented with a DIFFERENT final price that has been already been charged to your card. In my case it was almost 10% increase on the price i'd been given. £18.11 of completely hidden charge and i had NO chance to back out to use a different company.

The site itself is easy to use and the booking process easy, but this practice is unacceptable.

UPDATE: Complained direct to Alitravel, they claimed to have looked at my digital footprint and suggested that i was lying and my comments are unfair. I decided to replicate my booking to help them and see if there was a bug or if i was going mad. Amazingly the flight i had booked had magically disappeared from the Alitravel website! Hence i couldn't retrace my steps. I did however present the argument that because there were other sites on the search engine (Momondo) that had cheaper prices why would i have booked with Alitravel (i sent a screenshot of the prices).
Also after some investigation i noticed if you book direct on their website the fees DO appear, but if you come from a search engine like i did the fees are not shown at all and are added after you click to confirm.
Alitravel didn't offer any apology or refund of the difference.
