I have purchased from Alpinetrek.co.uk on several occasions, but based on my recent experiences, I will not be using them again.
The website’s .co.uk domain strongly suggests a UK-based operation, which they are not, and is misleading. The goods are shipped from Europe, and in reality, delivery times have consistently been far longer than advertised, causing unnecessary inconvenience.
On a previous order, I returned an item and, despite confirmation that it had been received, the refund process was unreasonably delayed.
Most concerning, however, was my most recent purchase attempt. I applied a valid 20% discount code, which should have reduced the price of a pair of walking boots for my son by £50. Yet at checkout, the discount was unexpectedly withdrawn without explanation. This felt both unfair and deceptive. I did not buy them.
After raising the issue, I was offered a £10 voucher as compensation—far short of the £50 saving originally promised. This response does not adequately address the issue and has left me with little confidence in the company’s pricing practices or customer service.
I hope Alpinetrek.co.uk takes these concerns seriously and improves both its transparency and customer experience. As it stands, I cannot recommend them based on my experience.

Regarding delivery times, we generally ship orders within the stated delivery timeframes. We’re sorry if your parcel arrived later than expected. Once a shipment has been handed over to the carrier, delays can occasionally occur that are unfortunately outside of our direct control.
Concerning your return, we’d like to clarify that the delivery confirmation you mentioned referred to the customs clearance in Aylesbury. It is important to note that the return undergoes customs clearance there before being forwarded to our warehouse in Germany for processing the refund. You also mentioned an issue with a discount code during a later purchase attempt. It’s possible that the original code was no longer valid at that time. Suspect dishonest reason for not cancelling
Suspect dishonest reason given for not allowing cancelling. When I asked to cancel on Monday morning because of the delivery vagueness I was told that the order was already moved to shipping but when looking at website I see its not even processing. Couple of days later its in dispatched status and when looking on Amazon delivery I can see that the label is printed but its still awaiting collection. I know this trick well having used it on ebay to show that delivery is in process, all thats happened is that they've printed a label to show a status change but the item is probably not even available yet. So why don't they allow cancelling? Never ordering again.

The entire system and its processes are designed to ship the items out as quickly as possible. Consequently, the window of opportunity is very small for changes and cancellations. Once an order has entered the handling process, it is no longer feasible to manually locate and remove it from among thousands of parcels being processed daily.
It can happen that the order status in your customer account has not yet been updated at that moment. Status changes are not always displayed in real time, both when an order goes into processing and when it is shipped.
We would like to assure you and all our customers that all items shown as available in our shop are physically in stock. We operate our own warehouse and orders are shipped directly from there.

Mis-selling and terrible communication
This website advertised discounts for creating an account. These are misleading and will not get the discount, even though the discount is written clearly right next to the price of the product you want to buy.
Communication is terrible. When I emailed to complain about this mis-selling practice, I received an AI automated response that had nothing to do with my complaint, and was a dead-end.

Excellent service, good communications and great prices. But, there are some downsides. First, delivery takes longer than you might expect from a UK-based retailer. Second, you will get a fair amount of generic correspondence in German ( I think it’s their excellent mail order rules)!
Also, I have not needed to return anything yet, although that all looks OK.
