Evaluating 56 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently reported poor product quality, noting that zippers, handles, and wheels broke after only a few uses during travel. Inadequate customer support

I bought a bag for 2000 SEK on December 2022. The zipper stopped working on July. It has been three months, I am e-mailing them, calling them, trying everything and cannot get any response.
Before thatI had another American Tourister got broken on a SAS flight which is also something doesn’t happen often with any other brand.
Do never buy anything from that brand! They have average quality and the worst customer support

Faulty bag but no return or exchange!

Quality customer service is as important as quality products. American Tourister provide neither.
I purchased an American Tourister bag from the department store El Corte Inglés in Valencia Spain on August 18. A month later I used it for a trip (by car) and when I was packing to leave, the inside zip broke.
I took the bag back to El Corte Inglés expecting a refund or exchange. That's not American Tourister policy according to El Corte Inglés. The bag has to be sent back to American Tourister in Madrid to be repaired.
I explained that I have another trip coming up in ten days and I need luggage. I was told to contact American Tourister to ask for an urgent repair. Not possible apparently. It will be at least a month before my bag is returned to me.
This is such a poor customer experience from American Tourister that I would never buy another piece of luggage from them and would never advise anyone to do so.

I recently purchased a large Bon Air…

I recently purchased a large Bon Air Spinner suitcase. It has lasted 1 and half trips. I was super excited when I purchased the and now I am super disappointed. On the return journey of second trip the suitcase was open at baggage reclaim. The zip was open and side of the case was sliced open ever so slightly. I am frequently traveller and certainly this was totally unexpected. I will make arrangements to return this suitcase but I expect a better product if I am to maintain any trust in American Tourister.

Avoid! They do not post orders

Oh how i regret I did not check Trust pilot prior to my ordering.
Placed order over a week ago, silence for 5 days. On day 6 I wrote very unhappy email asking whats going on. They have replied saying they can not issue me with a refund as order is in processing, not send yet. Their response was, do not accept the parcel , once we have received it we will refund u. Well all good, but it has been 2 weeks now and you still haven't send it to me! So can't really decline The delivery as nothing is coming! I have no bag,you have my money! Biggest regret! I will be contacting my bank too to see if somehow I can get my money back. I'm travelling in 2 days, my bag was not cheap! You are disgraceful.

Disgraceful service

My suitcase broke on my flight from London Gatwick to Bergen. Which also was an american tourister, but I believe it was Norwegian’s fault. Anyways, need a new suitcase quick, and on your website it says it will be delivered within a week. It’s now been a week since I purchased and paid for the suitcase, and nothing has happened. No e-mails except for a link to Bring, which doesn’t work. There is no tracking number, I have sent you several e-mails and the only one that was responded said «we will get back to you in a few days…» This isn’t good enough when I need the suitcase «now!» please get back to me ASAP

What Happened to American Tourister?

As a "senior citizen" I've traveled around the world for 40 years (maybe more) so quality and durability of my luggage is of major importance to me. 18 months ago I purchased an American Tourister "roller bag"/carry on. I purchased this brand because in the past (LONG past) they had a good reputation for quality. Without question that is no longer true. On my fourth trip using this luggage the retractable handle broke. After much investigation and inquiry I learned that I could return the bag to a "repair center nearby" or to a Samsonite (the Brand's Owner) retailer and for $15 they would mail it back to a repair center back east. Since the representatives informed me that there was NO authorized repair center in all of Phoenix AZ (the 5th largest city in the U.S.!!!) where I live, I was forced to drive to town outside Phoenix nearly an hour away in Chandler. The store representative informed me that because Amer. Tourister no longer uses a STEEL retractable handle and has replaced it with aluminum they get "many returns". Enough said. This brand no longer represents the quality it did years ago before it was sold to a huge company that apparently (based on this writer's experience) cares very little about the heritage of the American Tourister Brand.

Disgraceful Service

Bought a Sports Bag which was needed for going on holiday. Website said that it was available and it would be sent 24 hour delivery. In reality they did not dispatch it for 4 days and then sent it 48 hour delivery which became a 4 day delivery because of the intervening weekend. By the time it was delivered we had left for our holiday. This is meant to be a class company but their service is anything but class. The bag itself is nothing special and similar quality could be bought in any mall for a fraction of the price. Never again.

Below par Customer Support/Service!!

American Tourister is owned by Samsonite. I have Samsonite luggage for many years and doesn't give me any problem at all. Decided to give myself a treat by buying a new Disney Mickey Mouse collection 77cm hard case spinner early this year. Took it for my first 10 day's trip to Birmingham. OTW back to Dublin, one of the plastic base came off leaving two screws sticking out! Contacted American Tourister and was told to bring the luggage for repair since it's still under warranty at their approved repair centre WG SKELTON. Stressed out to them, that time is of the essence for me as I am flying to Singapore for a month on the 12th June. We are almost coming to the end of May. WG Skelton informed me that "there's no part" so has informed Samsonite. Ball in their court now so to speak. Wrote email after email. It was acknowledged by automated reply but NO HUMAN has been in contact? It's really a "Mickey Mouse" company! Such disappointment for such an established company!! No excuse whatsoever at this age and stage of CUSTOMER SERVICE. RETAIL IS DETAIL. I am now without luggage and time is ticking!!

Don’t buy this brand

Bought a suitcase from Myer for $380 prior to flying to Europe. Suitcase had less than 20kg of luggage . When we arrived home there was a large full thickness split in the case. American Tourister says it not their problem . So what exactly is covered in their 10 year warranty if it can’t even last 1 trip !!

Bought directly from American Tourister...

Bought Large suitcase directly from American Tourister one of their lovely new Starvibe design cases for my holiday. I was really pleased when it arrived - it looked great at first glance!
Packed it up for my trip and did think the zip looked a little badly fixed in and feeble , but decided must be just my imagination.
On the day of my holiday - about half an hour before leaving, I had to check some items - and on zipping it back up the zip just split apart!! On the corner and along a straight. Realised there was no strength at all in the zip joints and clearly it was faulty after all! I then had mad panic to re-pack all my items into my old Antler suitcase - which I will add is quite a bit smaller than the new American Tourister one and didn't struggle zipping up at all with the same amount of stuff (It's expandable and I didn't need to even do that)!!
I will not be buying American Tourister cases again of course as a result and wish I'd found the Trust Pilot reviews here before I purchased, as I can't really see any positive.
Thank God this happened at home before leaving and not at the airport, or even worse when it was gone through check in ....my items might have been in very different situation to happening while at home still and it would have been even more stressful.
I'm sure out of the hundreds AT must sell, some people must be pleased, but normally see a few positive reviews on review sites and I really couldn't see much on here at all. All I know is the zips to mine were clearly not fit for purpose.
To be fair to American Tourister on one hand, the return of the case was a very straight forward process and the refund was very fast too. Sadly though the process form to complete did not seem to really want information that the case had faults - almost like they don't want to recognise this possibility and I felt they should try and record this in some way, so that they can improve their products - I'd hate for this to happen to anyone else and God forbid happen to them once on their trip!
Just my experience and I felt I needed to write a review on this occasion.

Lock instructions enclosed with case are USELESS…

The instructions for the lock on the Bonair cabin case that are enclosed with the suitcase are not just incomprehensible, they are WRONG. It was only thanks to a person trawling the internet to find Youtube instructions and then dictating them to me by phone that made the suitcase useable. Pretty pathetic. And even more pathetic that American Tourister have no phone number or email for help with their products. I have always bought their cases before, but never again. Very disappointed. I nearly returned the suitcase as faulty to a hapless retailer.

I cannot understand why they are so…

I cannot understand why they are so expensive and so bad in the same time. More than 100 dollars and two wheels broken after the first use . The materials are really, really bad. It’s one of that popular brand where you pay just the name

Brought a set of suitcases

Brought a set of suitcases , problem with this brand they use middle range materials for premium prices.
Whilst the far cheaper material is more durable . The material used isn't exactly the cheapest , but for use in luggage is to rigid which results in cracks once any force is applied .
Others brands use cheaper material such as polyethylene however , they are far more durable . Lesson learnt sometimes things that cost more does not always necessarily more better quality . The designs and colours are fantastic and the seam work is of good quality the outer materials used let's this brand down .
Bonus is you can get the suitcase repaired , but adds up if it ends up damaged on every journey .
I will pay for the repairs 1 x on each suitcase and after this is will be sent back to be recycled if it damaged again and I won't be buying this brand again very simple .

Bad Product American Tourister

Zip opens up when suitcases are full. We wiggled with 3 suitcases to zip them up. Ended up gladwrapping at the airport to protect our stuff falling out of these new 3 suitcases. Don't get fooled by International warranty. We ended up paying to Samsonite for repairing these under warranty and Samsonite won't reimburse you for expensed occured to protect your stuff and won't guranttee for any future damage.
