Avoid American Tourister at all costs…

Avoid American Tourister at all costs .......

Purchased an American Tourister Summer Session Medium Size in March and on first use in May the material near the 'protective' corner edgings was damaged in 2 places. The rubber strips along the edge which should have provided protection were actually below instead of proud of the sides meaning they provided no protection whatsoever and therefore any sliding motion against the side would easily damage the material - which it has. Pictures were submitted and I was asked to return the case which I duly did. This has been returned today with note not repairable and due to third party damage - totally disagree as design and manufacture should have prevented this and will not be buying this brand again or using Luggage Superstore as far too expensive for just one holiday!!!

Rubbish quality

First time we used it the zip broke. No telephone number to ring and complain. Do not buy this suitcase!

Not fit for purpose.

Bought a set of three Bon Air Spinner cases at a bargain price. They were not my first choice, but I thought they were a reputable brand and the price was too good to miss. Took the large and medium case on a rail holiday to Germany. The pull-out handle on the medium case broke on the first day shortly after we got off our first train. The zips on the large case broke on the second day. The wheels are two small and the cases are not very smooth running. The cases themselves are relatively soft and and flexible. Overall a waste of money even at a 'bargain' price.

Do not purchase

The American tourister airconic luggage fell apart on first use. Both our zips came apart and clothing was strewn around carousel. They were not overloaded as they would like to make you think. Lugguage was half filled so we could shop on holiday.
Stay away from this manufacturer, not worth the money

Can you pull it with 3 wheels?

I should have read reviews first. Sadly, I took a risk that did not pay off. We purchased two suitcases in December 2023 from Kohl's and American Tourister. I used them for one trip and a set of the wheels fell off the suitcase. After contacting customer service I was told they do not carry replacement wheels (seems crazy as I'm betting this is a part of the suitcase that breaks easily) and my suitcase is no longer under warranty (3 months old!). The only way to hope for a fix is to mail or take it to a repair center of their company. There are none close. I can't imagine the cost of mailing would be worth it to fix a suitcase for a payment and then pay to have it mailed back. What TERRIBLE customer service and obviously shoddy craftsmanship. It's sad that the investment I made couldn't even last one trip! Needless to say, a 3 wheeled suitcase is not usable!

After 4 months a wheel disintegrated

After 4 months a wheel disintegrated. Called company and was told they do not have replacement part. It will need to be repaired. The closest "authorized" repair place is 100 miles from us. We can drive it there or ship it there. This is NOT covered by the company. That would be approximately $100.00!!! So much for 10-year warranty.

I WOULD RATE THIS ZERO IF I COULD

The missus and I bought two hard-shell full size suitcases to use on our yearly vacation to Colombia. They were subjected to two stops each way, four total airports. First year, they were used for 1 roundtrip and held up, no problems. Next year, the plastic around the caster on one suitcase completely cracked on the outbound flight and was hanging by a thread when we picked it up at baggage claim. It was a joy, (NOT) to try and wheel thru customs. The suitcase was loaded to a NOT unreasonable 32.6 pounds... what I would consider a normal carrying capacity.

With some epoxy and half a dozen strategically placed screws we were thankfully able to make it home but in the process of doing the repair myself I voided the warranty. Imagine the task of finding a warranty center or SOMEONE who could effect a fix in a language not your own while toting around a full-sized suitcase in a city you're barely familiar with. Not a fun way to spend your vacation.

Yesterday we arrived home after a trip to Mexico on a on a one stop roundtrip and you guessed it, the other suitcase had similar caster failure. This after a few trips.

I have read some American Tourister luggage reports about successfully surviving 670 trips or some such nonsense and the only way that might be possible is if it was a lightly packed carry-on. Baggage handlers, as anyone who travels knows, are gorillas.

In conclusion, if two identical pieces of luggage, cannot last for more than a few trips, its junk. Plain and simple. The plastic is flimsy and the area of the suitcase where the casters join the case are the Achilles heel of this product. A full size suitcase, with a normal load, simply will not last more than half a dozen to a dozen airport handlings.

Do not believe the hype about what great value for money American Tourister luggage represents, it doesn't. Read their warranty carefully. They don't cover damage by handlers thus rendering the guarantee entirely useless.

Suitcases look good but are of inferior…

Suitcases look good but are of inferior quality. Mechanism break easily. The customer service is simply unavailable. Never pick up, never answer emails, repairs are referred to a third party company in Maidenhead which is equally unresponsive and hard to figure out how to get the suitcase to them. I thought I reached the pinnacle of bad customer service with British Airways, but American Tourister is FAR WORSE. Never ever buy here again!

DONT BUY - Airconic

Wish I had read these reviews instead of the 'best buys'. Brought the Airconic based on some articles.
I got sent out a suitcase with a faulty zip. Complained and have heard nothing from the company for almost a month.

Busted/Cracked plastic around wheel after 3 uses

I will begin by saying my job had required me to travel a lot and most suitcases (other brands) I’ve had for over ten years before needing to replace. I no longer travel a lot, and purchased the Moonlight 28” hard case spinner suitcase directly from American Tourister. I used it 3 times before it busted. It’s only 6.5 months old, and the plastic cracked around the wheel and it hardly rolls, and is no longer usable anyhow as the plastic is cracked open. It has a 10 year warranty, but when I called customer service they said this doesn’t fall under the warranty and they won’t do anything about it. I wish I hadn’t bought three suitcases from American Tourister, and I would advise others to go with another company with legit warranty coverage/customer service.

American tourister waardeloze kwaliteit en service

American Tourister is part of Samsonite. Bought a suitcase but left it in the attic for first use. Ultimately, the suitcase was used carefully twice for a week in the hope of enjoying it for a long time, but the zipper serrations in the corner broke off and the tab came out. Have to buy lashing straps for the return trip to be able to take the luggage back with me. The quality of the zipper appears to be downright poor. Actions carried out as the lady on the phone asked me to do. Created an account, sent photos to get a standard response: it is out of warranty and cannot be repaired. After calling again, a supposedly nice lady told me to make an effort because the photos clearly show that the suitcase itself is in excellent condition. She promises to call or email me back. 2 weeks later it remained quiet, after which I contacted them again. People are having lunch. Once again I am promised that I will be called back, which again does not happen. Finally I got someone on the phone who told me that she really cannot deviate from the warranty period because if she has to do it for me, then she has to do it for everyone else. It has been stated several times that the quality is downright poor and that leniency would therefore be appropriate. And there is absolutely no dispute that the quality is poor. They know it is so and let the customer suffer. She was able to accommodate me with a voucher for a 20% discount on a new suitcase. Not a cent of mine will be spent on American Tourister or Samsonite. A suitcase with a value of €155 that could not be used normally for less than 2 weeks. I don't envy that customer service lady because what a rotten job that must be to have to deal with the mess from that company all the time. Think carefully when buying a suitcase. My review does not stand alone.
Men is lunchen.

I'm glad I read these, I won't waste my time with them. I'll just buy another better product. This is how you lose customers jaggofs. I have picks of how the wheel just fell of and out of the luggage. The whole damn wheel just broke off.

Terrible

Terrible. The case failed within one year (2 trips of purchase). I got in touch with customer services expecting them to rectify the problem and they have obstructed at every turn before finally saying it was my fault. I would find a better manufacturer.
