EPS bead Cavity Wall Insulation done with pride.

This is deservedly a 5* review, but just saying how good it was is not especially useful. Let’s talk about the downsides first. The lorry is huge, and not what I was expecting. I thought I had seen such vans for the EPS bead insulation. Clearly not. It was a huge lorry that would not fit in a single parking space as it was twice that length.

When blowing the insulation there is a fine glue vapour that seeps into the house, probably via the mains sockets, since the mains cables run in the cavity. It is not smelly, but not ideal to breathe in.

Afterwards there were expanded polystyrene balls left behind outside the house. Not huge amounts, but visible amounts which can’t be swept up on the grass or in the flint-filled drainage channels around the house. With the best will, and the best skill in the world, I see this low level of spillage as inevitable. If you are the sort of person who is 'meticulous' to the extend that 200 beads left behind is going to cause you stress, then don’t bother. You will never be satisfied.

The guys were courteous, answered all my questions, and clearly skilled at the job. More than that was a sense of pride in the finished result, a somewhat ‘old fashioned’ but cherished quality. I am confident they did the very best they could to maintain the aesthetic quality of my home, rather than some slapdash workers trying to complete the job in a given timescale.

I thoroughly recommend these guys for sticky EPS bead cavity wall installation.
