Repetition Repetition Repetition …

Love seeing the properties but the presenters are terrible. The shows format never changes and the same questions are asked every time. Please stop asking about wiggle room. They have given you a price work with it !!!.

Jasmine and Ben 5Stars

Jasmine and Ben are the only presenters on the show that have any genuine empathy for the house hunters. The rest are only interested in getting “contenders” as though it is some kind of game show with no interest in the potential life changing position of the customers. Some, e.g. Laura take it as a personal insult if they don’t like the hovel that she just shown them. It was laughable on one show where the hallway was supposed to be the living room. On another it was obvious she had upset one of the house hunters and reduced them to tears - for all the wrong reasons.

Far too much Spain

Far too much Spain. That really becomes unsatisfying. Our preference would be much more France and Italy. Seems the LCD is the rule these days. Would also like to see Sarah D doing more shows.

Stop saying - I have to get back to my househunters

I really enjoy watching this programme, but can the presenters please stop saying "I have to go back to my househunters" after they've viewed the million pound properties. Just leave and crack on. It's so annoying/boring as every presenter has their own spin on the phrase.

Complete waste of petrol & time, give it a miss!

We went to A Place in the Sun exhibition in London in May 2024, complete waste of petrol and time, exhibitors could not be bothered one guy on a stand was still under the inflence of alcohol from the night before, we walked in and out within 20 minutes how they have the cheek to sell tickets to this show i will never know.
Usual Spain top of the list, cheaper to jump on a flight and look for yourself, would not of taken any advice from young kids payed to stand at a exhibition stand that clearly had not got a clue. More than dissapointing but we laughed at what we went to!Give it a miss......

Travelled to Spain back in September…

Travelled to Spain back in September and on the advice of a Place in the Sun currency left a 10,000 euro deposit with a property developer who has since disappeared with no trace of our money. A Place in the Sun don't want to know, have refused to assist or shown any willingness to address the issue. Basically we've been scammed and a Place in the Sun are up to their neck in it. DO NOT DEAL with this company in any way.

We initially bought tickets for Friday…

We initially bought tickets for Friday and then won tickets for the Sunday event. As we had such a wonderful experience on Friday, we decided to return on Sunday! We have not purchased a property for 17 years, home or abroad. So we feel like anxious first time buyers. We are particularly interested in Tivoli, near Rome, where we married and have amazing memories from our previous trips. We received an email prior to the show prewarning us that there was little information about Italy at the event and offering us our money back. I thought that this was a wonderful gesture and quite unexpected. We decided to go anyway as we love the show. However, in spite of there being little by way of Italy at the event, we benefitted from talking to exhibitors and learning little tricks about refreshing our house buying and adding to our 'to do' list. We also discovered a development in Zanzibar which we have learnt about and an annual African music festival that is now on our wish list. Without travelling to this event, we would not have had this information, met international Lawyers and even discover Zanzibar as a possible place to consider. The Place in the Sun team created such a great environment we had a wonderful weekend. My husband officially retired on Friday and this will marked a memorable day for him. We especially remembered Sandy from the team on Friday, seeking her out on the Sunday to tell her how much she had positively impacted our day and made us want to return. In fact, everyone working on the event were a pleasure and so very genuinely enthusiastic. We also had the pleasure of meeting both presenters Jasmine and Laura and got to talk to them personally about our plans and received one to one advice and tips about our potential plans. This despite there being a very long queue of people. We did not feel rushed or under any pressure to move on quickly. We have returned home to another binge of a Place in the Sun. It is definitely our current addiction! We agreed that we will definitely visit again in the future. It is great for networking and picking up contacts! Just because it is 'Spain heavy', do it. You will enjoy the day and the experience and return with useful tips and the benefit of expert knowledge. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Nowadays, very disappointed

As avid watchers of the series for years, we feel the programme has lost its way
Firstly, Jonnie Irwin, given no tribute nor mention of his passing 😡.
Secondly, the new presenters just haven't got the likeablity, that Jonnie, Jasmine, Jean, Danny, Ben.
The format/outcome has sadly become predictable, ie save the best for last 🤷‍♂️.
Having just watched Craig on Crete, with his awkwardness and a budget of £300,000, what a disaster. Yes, I know , you can only show what is available the market at the time. The section where the presenter visits a multi million £ property, is and always has been imo, a waste of time.
Sorry channel 4, but a good programme, that had lost its way 😪

Only go if you are interested in Spain

We went to A Place in the Sun exhibition in London in May 2024. We were incredibly disappointed. Hardly any exhibitors (I go to several trade shows a year and never been to one with such a sparse number of stands) and 99% of those that ARE there, relate to Spain only. Also the lawyers and other services mainly deal with Spanish properties/moves. A complete waste of time and effort for us as we're interested in Greece! Please don't bother unless Spain is where you're considering to buy.

A place in the Fashion Show

We enjoy the programme but the female presenters seem to think it's a fashion show. They act over excited and seem to forget the programme is about the clients.

With the short low cut dresses and high heels, they do not look like profesional business like presenters.

APITS Exhibitions

This review is more relevant to the exhibitions they run in the UK and Ireland.
I am a big fan of the APITS TV show so when the opportunity arose to go to their exhibition in Dublin in 2023, I went along to speak to some of the vendors who display their services here.
My overall view is, it was well worth the effort to attend. Most of the vendors were knowledgeable and pleasant.
However, it's only after the fact that I discovered that APITS doesn't endorse any of the vendors who advertise themselves at these exhibitions.
Please carry out your own due diligence on any firm that you may engage to assist you with your purchase, particularly the Lawyers, who from my unfortunate experience, do not adhere to the same standards as Irish and UK Lawyers. Dealing with the Legal Firm (Legal Iuris) I engaged with, was akin to entering an unmarked minefield.
Buyer Beware.

Buyers beware new builds.

As an agent on the Costa Blanca, I felt I should point out the huge commissions that are made from selling new build properties. I have noted that the new agents from Murcia, Darren and Natalie, seem to always steer buyers towards off-plan and new build properties. These offer commissions of between 10% and 15% to the selling agents as opposed to the usual 5% they earn from selling second hand properties.
I felt that buyers should be made aware of this. There are plenty of older properties in very good condition and with more space available in the area for far fewer euros per square metre.
Obviously they are paying up to 15% more than the real value of the property for new or off-plan builds.

Contender

Can you PLEASE leave out the word "contender". It`s annoying in the extreme. The presenters are obsessed with the word, even asking "Is it a contender" after only one viewing!

Fake

From what I've seen over the years it is a sham. Very few of the 'buyers' actually purchase the property of their choice shown on the programme, even after an offer is made. It usually ends with the presenter announcing at the end that "...... decided against this property and hope to find their dream home soon". It has also been alleged that many of the house hunters are friends of the producers who only take part for a few days away, out of season.

Visited the exhibition yesterday very disappointing 😞 yes loads of stands all selling properties but seems they only intersted in how much money you have no help or information on anything other than the golden visa . Most people on the programme do not have large budgets ,thought I would have come away with lots of information but sadly came away with none

Shameful treatment of presenter

I enjoyed watching this show especially with Johnny and Jasmin. They came across as lovely genuine people. However when very brave Johnny told them he had terminal cancer they dropped him like a hot potato. As if the poor guy didn’t have enough to deal with. I vowed I will never have this program on in my house again. They are an absolute disgrace and should be ashamed. Now his poor wife has three young kids to raise with no support.

Do better!

Very concerning that A place in the sun does not carry out background checks on their participants.

'Mark and Taz'.
Mark fled Ireland to escape his debts and wronf doings. He came to the UK to extort his mother, who he put in a care home and sold her life long home.
Now shamelessly attempting to purchase properly with it.
The man is a danger to society, Taz has always been aware of his convictions and has dabbled in the money also.

Big let down that A place in the sun doesn't do more research on their applications.
Do better!
