Misleading advertisement…
I was misled by the way this product was advertised.
I thought I was buying something that had been returned opened but unused by a customer - “open box return” was stated in the advertisement and was what I understood that I was ordering.
When I received the item it was labelled “refurbished” and referred to as “open box renew” - I went back to the advert’ and it clearly stated “open box return”
There seemed to be a sort of sleight of hand between these two phrases which
I only realised this because the box contained the incorrect charging cable which made me examine the labelling and packaging more closely
I telephoned and complained and they sent me the correct charging cable and are processing a refund of £15. I do not think that is very generous.
I would not have bought the item if I had known it was refurbished.
The product works and seems to be in good condition but I think refurbished items should be half price or less.

Just before Christmas I bought two…
Just before Christmas I bought two items advertised as "open-box returns" from their website - a pair of Sony earbuds and a pair of Sony headphones. When the delivery arrived, they were both clearly labelled as Sony refurbished products and turned up in tatty boxes with instructions missing. I immediately contacted Ask Direct and 'asked' them if they could explain what I had actually received - were these "open-box returns" or were they refurbished items? I received no reply. In the New YearI then made an official complaint, asking them to specifically get the information from Sony when they were manufactured, when they were returned to Sony, what they were refurbished for and whether or not Sony regarded them as "open-box returns". Ask told me they did not know this information and sent me a return label. I queried as to how they can therefore call the items "open-box returns" when they clearly did not know what they were and was told this would be passed on to their manager. Per their terms and conditions, they are supposed to send a customer's refund within 14 days of the item being dropped off for re-delivery to them. A week or so after I dropped them off for return off, I asked them if they could email me to let me know when they send the refund - to which I had no reply. It has now been 22 days since they RECEIVED the return and I still have not been refunded. I've now had to send another official complaint, and will be taking this to Trading Standards if I do not receive my refund by the end of the week. Do yourselves a favour and avoid these people and save yourself a lot of grief!
Oh - I've just checked my email to see they have refunded me and apologised for the delay! It's a shame that a complaint has to be made to get a response from these people, but I will credit them for that.................

Great tracking info and delivery. Unhappy that the advert said 'open box', then when it arrived it was a refurbished tv !, but it does have a 3 year warranty direct with Sony. Not too bad when normal one is only 1 year.

I missed out on sony's big discount by a day!..
I look at price spy and come across askdirect for the first time ever. Even my mum (who does lots of online shopping), hadn't heard of ask direct.
I check trust pilot, to see if it's too good to be true. I see someone has just bought some headphones similar to mine on ask direct and gave it a 5 star review.. so I decide to buy.
On ask direct, the headphones were still discounted fully (where elsewhere they weren't), they have come with a 3 year warranty, free shipping and took less than 2 days to arrive.

The only site I found discounting the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones. They arrived very quickly and are in perfect condition. And they are brilliant. I had the WH-1000XM3 and these are better. And though I would normally chose Black, these are midnight blue and are so cool, love them. AskDirect, no problem at all. Happy to recommend
