Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 228 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people felt the company was primarily focused on money, often pushing expensive procedures and upselling services, leading to misleading pricing and unexpected, significantly higher costs than initially quoted. Customer service was frequently criticized for being unhelpful, with issues like long wait times, billing department problems, and a perceived lack of concern for patient pain. However, some customers noted positive interactions with staff, describing them as nice, compassionate, and professional. A few also found specific dentists provided excellent care, explaining procedures well and leading to satisfactory outcomes. Additionally, some appreciated convenient scheduling and quick service for extractions or denture adjustments.

I went to have my wisdom teeth removed

I went to have my wisdom teeth removed, i feel like they only gave information when asked for it like financing and after care. I showed up to get it done when they told me 45 minutes early where i waited in the lobby and then when they were done they just gave me to my sister in law with no instruction. No extra gauze nothing i needed said they sent the meds to pharmacy and when trying to ask what we needed when we were across town they suggested we go back to grab it. I couldnt, not my car and we were headed to henderson. Call next day and got voicemail saying theyd call back in 1-2 days so i called my family dentist and got information there. The entire encounter was rushed and i left balling my eyes out. Please choose somewhere else to go if you need teeth removed.

Do not trust this organization

Do not trust this organization. In my experience, they retained patient funds as “credits” without transparency or proper communication. I was told they were in network when they were not, and I was charged an amount upfront that later did not align with my insurance explanation of benefits. This created significant issues with my FSA and reimbursement.

As I tried to resolve this, I was informed that my insurance denied services and that I owed additional money. However, after reviewing the Explanation of Benefits, it did not reflect those denials. I relied on that information at the time and paid the additional amount.

This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Patients should be able to trust the accuracy of billing and insurance explanations, and that was not my experience here.

Proceed with caution.

Aspen Dental experience

ABOUT 2 YEAR'S AGO I WENT TO HAVE MY TEETH EXTRACTED AND TO GET DENTURES. WELL THE DENTURES NEVER FIT RIGHT. So I complained about it and they did a realignment and it didn't work. I even asked for my money back that didn't work cause it was about 12000 dollars. I kept complaining that they were rocking, they told me that it was due to bone loss, the tops and bottoms so two years later I am still without teeth. So be careful people. Don't let this happen to you. my name is Clyde F.

Very deceiving in the Festus office

Very deceiving in the Festus office. The dentist actually was jamming teeth pricker up hard into my teeth looking for cavities, she was unfriejndly and the entire office deceiving on prices. I went there for one thing and they had 10,000 worth of dental work they wanted to do, and unless I signed the dotted line they would do nothing. Thankfully I found a company who took me in same day with no issues. I should have listened to those who forwarnef me. Please do not go here, its a franchise, its how they make money to rope ypu in...beware!

Worst dental experience I have had in…

Worst dental experience I have had in 50 years. Rude, incompetent, shifts blame to patient. Unresponsive, unorganized, combative, uncaring...I could go on for days. I began my simple dental journey with Aspen in February, it is now the middle of June and after countless appointments I still do not have a partial that I can wear. It is like the Taco Bell of dentistry, you will receive something reminiscent of proper medical care, but is it genuine dental care? No. I would like to warn anyone thinking about this office to think twice. And hey Aspen, instead of your canned reply that you are sorry to hear about my experience and that you care, try actually do somehting about it and change the problems within your office. Start with your "manager" Celine and ultimately end with your dentist in charge "Dr." Koolick. From reading the reviews, which I wish I would have done before choosing, Celine the "Manager" is the root of the problem. I have had the, um, pleasure of interacting with Celine and can say from experience that she is untruthful and ill equipped to carry out the duties of her job. And "Dr." Koolick? All I will say is what kind of dentist doesn't introduce themselves or make eye contact during the first meeting, and what kind of Dentist does not provide a mirror to inspect the work done before dismissing you? I think it is a dentist that is in over their head and perhaps needs better direction and proper customer facing, bedside manner training. All in all, I still have to live without front teeth, for the entire four months since my first appointment. Aspen has my money and all I have is a piece of plastic that may as well be a Lego block, that's how well they fit.

I waited 55 minutes after my appointment time to finally see the exray person who could not get the exray machine to work. The receptionist said she could not find my insurance and wanted to charge me $30 dollars for the free consultation. Aspen Dental made no apology or concession for the hour and 20 minutes I was there without having an exray or consultation. I would recommend finding any other Dental facility to assist you in your dental needs. Read the review and see for yourself the many and I mean many unsatisfied people that have actually used Aspen Dental. I wish I would have looked into this company before I wasted my time.

Aspen Dental staff need to communicate…

Aspen Dental staff need to communicate much better. I had a full extraction scheduled only to find out after the fact that it needs to be rescheduled. Not only did staff not tell me about the extra steps before the procedure, they failed to let me know about when and I had to cancel my ride to and from. This has created much unnecessary stress and I don't know how to arrange needed transportation.

Do not pay Aspen Dental in full, in advance

I made the mistake of paying Aspen Dental in advance, in full, for an implant and periodontal work.
I was never told the process nor time frame involved. If I had known that the implant would take 2 weeks less than 2 years, I would have looked for an alternative.
It is hard not to give 3 of the professionals a 5 rating. But it is not hard to give the 4th professional and the back office a 1 rating.
Dr. Benavides, Dr. Shegley, and Jessica were wonderful. Dr. Matthew Poore and the Anderson SC office manager,. Maurice Waller, were awful.
I am not upset about losing 2 months because the screw inserted by Dr. Shegley fell out and had to be replaced. I am upset about Dr. Poore doing basically nothing, and costing me 9 months before Dr. Shegley could start over.
The office response time, record keeping, lack of follow through, and being asked 3 times to pay a second time for services included in my original payment were very annoying.
I was told that I had to pay again, when arriving for my scheduled appointments, before they would take care of my planned treatment. I did receive the services, but only after an argument when I refused, and they let me sit for an hour or more after my scheduled appointment time.
Now they have even turned me over to a private debt collection agency. I have disputed their claim, and will continue to fight it if they do not stop.
Mr. Waller especially earned my displeasure, as I have documented 9 occasions, either on the phone or by going to his office in person to confront him,
either he or his staff assured me that they would check on my issue, and call me. They never did.
I tried to get an appointment with Dr. Shegley in October, 2025, to see if I was ready for Dr. Benevides to insert my implant. I knew that Dr. Shegley covered offices all over South Carolina, that he determined his own schedule, and then told the various offices when they could schedule patient appointments. I called in June, July, August and September, and was told each time that Dr. Shegley had not yet given them his schedule. I called late on October 1, to be told that Dr. Shegley had been in Seneca the day before, was in Anderson that day, but I was too late to get an appointment on that day.
My 3 rating is too low for the 3 professionals, but too high for the rest.
Needless to say, I will not be returning.

Aspen Dental Muncie

For the Aspen Dental location in Muncie, IN:

My young adult son had medical issues that led to a decline in his dental care for a period of time. Upon visiting this Aspen Dental location for a check-up, cleaning and consultation for wisdom teeth removal, had had six surface cavities. Aspen's estimate for the cavity treatment/fillings exceeded $2500. Because of the procedures proposed, little if any was subject to insurance discounts or insurance payment benefits from his high-end dental plan. He sought a second opinion from a nearby family office, and while the cavities were confirmed, there was significantly less decayed surface area in the second diagnosis and therefore a lesser treatment plan/expense. In general, the charge per tooth for fillings was roughly half of Aspen's quote, averaging about $150 per tooth versus $300. Aspen also prescribes an 'Advanced Laser' procedure for each tooth @$100 per, taking the price to $400. None of this was subject to insurance discount or covered co-payment, thus all left to the patient to pay. Bottom line for the family office? $1179 in fees, $546 of which insurance will pay, leaving a patient responsibility of $633. In summary, had he stayed with Aspen he would be out $2500, and instead will be treated fairly and will pay 75% less thanks to a reputable family dental office and good insurance. I sincerely hope many people will read these reviews and get a clear picture of Aspen's questionable business tactics.

They took my insurance card upfront and said it was approved. Aftert they did over $1,000 worth of work they are no claiming they do not accept my insurance and are demanding another $500. They put in the wrong insurance company altogether and now say if I do not pay it they will send me to collections. Worst customer service, total scam artits. They remind me of used car deals. Just really frustrated with Aspen…

Just really frustrated with Aspen Dental!! My dentures are about to crack in half and are supposed to be under warranty but I can't seem to get them fixed. Sure did need to take X-rays and my blood pressure and charge me before they would even look at them then doctor immediately walked in and said, " I am not fixing these." Just beware not all Aspen dental will help unless they can make money, always an upsell! Really a joke!

I am not happy with Aspen Dental in…

I am not happy with Aspen Dental in Elizabethtown Kentucky I had dentures for over 25 years broke mine so I went they’re hoping they would be good at it but Nop Top ones does OK they have to make three bottom ones and still not right first bottle one couldn’t eat or chew anything up with them so went back . I told them that I cannot chew nothing with it so they try to make me another one. They said they did which I don’t think you did still couldn’t chew with it, hello they made me another one. The third time told him it wasn’t right when it was in the wax it was too narrow in my mouth so they stretched it out. Thought it would be better than he fixed me. Another set I could chew with it, so they leave me another one and don’t fit my gums, right I put a liner in it. It just don’t work right I’m not happy with this company at all and I’m still paying for the dentures really I need another bottom set because he ain’t fitting right. They’re all out of shape. and everything and they don’t fit on my gums properly. I wouldn’t recommend this company.
