Astound is less than astounding

I cancelled my internet on March 18th I received a bill on March19th for $83 I called and they said my account was active until April 18th even though they had already received their equipment and I had to pay the $83 I wrote to corporate and they basically told me the same thing stay away from Astound

BAIT AND SWITCH: Get it in writing, because they lie

I reached out to cancel my service because I'm retiring, and $183 a month is too much and I found another option through T-Mobile. The person I spoke to offered me a "$40 for life" rate for the same gig service I have if I stayed with them, and I bit. She said it would take a day to become active. I didn't receive a confirmation in writing though I asked for one. Three days later, they charged me another $183 (several days ahead of my expected monthly statement). I called and they said that was for last month, which is not my understanding of how they charge for service, but okay, not nice, at least confirm it will be $40 next month? No, it will be $50. She said the person I spoke to "had the wrong information," and the autopay discount of $10 a month would take a few months to apply. I've been on autopay for years; there is no good reason for this delay, especially after having been told the new rate would apply after one day. It's not even the money, it's the principle. I will be cancelling for good because I don't deal with liars.

I would give it less than 1 star if I…

I would give it less than 1 star if I could. After years of service and ever rising costs, I switched to another provider. Meanwhile Astound failed to credit my account for payments that had been made and tried to continue billing me. Customer service was a complete scam, never crediting me with payments that had already been posted by my bank. Furthermore, I was given instructions to turn in my equipment at a janky liquor store who just laughed at me when I arrived with my equipment return. WORST. COMPANY. EVER.

Internet and speed is great customer…

Internet and speed is great customer service is horrible. If you have an issue with billing and talk to a rep they will give you a different price then what would be owed to turn on your service that is from a late fee on top of if you have a rep process your payment there is an additional charge on top of that

4 outages in less than two weeks

4 outages in less than two weeks, the latest March 14, 2026. It would be nice to know what's happening and why, especially since other fiber providers in the area don't seem to have this problem. Tech support is unable to provide any information or explanation.

Astound charges way to much for poor customer service/confiming outages and hard to get credit back even when their robot confirms the outage!

Astound continues to lie whenever they have service interruptions or outages. Yesterday I called after doing my own attempts at a reboot for my cable tivo where it would pause on shows for up to 5 minutes in my area. When I called the recorded message stated there was a known service interruption in my area. It said if restored too late in the evening I would get a call the next day which I did get the next morning. I called and the rep said he could not see any outage reports. I am sooo tired of their high charges and incompetence!!

just my second month with Astound

just my second month with Astound. First was a disaster and this isn't any better. Bill is more than contract, can't access account online. says account isn't enrolled, but when I call rep says I am enrolled. can't login and when I try to enroll again sit says name doesn't match account although I take it directly from the Astound email. Prepare to spend hours on the phone and you can't get a straight answer. Still no reason why they are charging more than the $50 a month contract. Time to call one of the cell companies now offering home internet I guess.

Terrible experience from start to…

Terrible experience from start to finish. Billing felt confusing and hard to follow at every step of the way. Charges shifted often, and promotional pricing disappeared without clear notice or options to keep the same value for the service. Bill credits were reversed without any communication or explanation.

Internet reliability also fell short. Over four years as a customer, outages occurred many times and disrupted normal use.

Overall experience: 0 out of 10. I do not recommend Astound Broadband.

I have been a customer of Astound 10 years

I have been a customer of Astound Broadband for over 10 years, and for most of that time my experience was positive. Unfortunately, my recent interactions have been extremely disappointing.

It feels like the company values new customers far more than long-term loyal ones. I currently have 110 Mbps service and pay $44.95 per month, plus $24.63 in taxes and fees. When I called to ask about available promotions, I was offered a $30 “loyalty” discount — but only if I kept my current, slower speed.

Meanwhile, their advertised 1 Gig service is $40 per month — which is actually $5 cheaper and nearly 900% faster than what I have now. However, when I asked about upgrading, I was told it would cost me $60 plus tax, and that no loyalty discount would apply. In other words, as a 10-year customer, I would pay significantly more than a brand-new customer for much better service.

To make matters worse, the representative I spoke with, Claressa (ID 005267), was rude and dismissive. She made it seem like she was doing me a favor by speaking with me. The overall experience was frustrating and unprofessional. Instead of trying to retain a loyal customer with a spotless payment history and multiple referrals, she essentially suggested that I leave.

I have never made a late payment and have referred several neighbors, family members, and friends to their service. It’s extremely disappointing to feel unappreciated after a decade of loyalty.

Based on my recent experience, loyalty clearly doesn’t matter to this company. Long-term customers appear to be treated worse than new ones, paying higher rates for slower speeds. That’s simply unacceptable.

If I could leave negative stars

If I could leave negative stars, I would rate them -5.

This is the worst internet service I have ever had. I have had it go up and down at least 15 times in the pastc3 days. This is totally unacceptable. In today's world, reliable internet is a must. When it goes down, so do all the devices I have attached to my smart speakers. And I work from home; I lost track of how much work I have had to re-do because the connection dropped mid-transmisson.

I don't think I had these many issues since dial-up days.

If you can avoid this company, DO! I got my bill from them and literally five minutes later lost connection. I should be billing THEM! And they don't offer any credit for down time and instead warn you a tech visit could COST $80! Then they try and push their protection scam. God, I loathe this company!

$75/month for 50mbps???

I signed up for their 1gb plan and was billed $75/month, getting an average download speed of around 50mbps, slower than my previous $30/month cable service. I now have AT&T's 300 plan, for $45/month and average 350-400mbps.

If consistency and speed matters to you - I wouldn’t go with Astound

Astound looks nice and have kind of good ratings .
I’ve had a trouble with modem their modem , that wasn’t functioning after power outage - it was dead .
I didn’t have time to wait for the new one they send and just bought myself a good modem from bestbuy , which serves me well no matter what , I needed that for work asap .
Their modem was not functional so I just throw it away , remember to send it back as they will charge you $150 ( nobody told me about returning broken modem, which I didn’t cause the damage)
Had 20 min on customer support - they won’t do anything , and won’t admit that theirs modem was not a quality piece and I still had to return it .

Overall speed feedback : it’s not consistent , always some issues with speed or receiving good signal. I’ve seen astound techs in the area more than any other companies , as it was just not working well. You pay at first okay money , and after they’ll increase payments .

One good thing about astound is their customer service- it’s very easy to get hold of them, you not gonna wait for too long and most of the time they help you to fix whatever issue you have .

BUT it’s all about internet, and I wouldn’t reccomend them for that.
Thanks tho for customer service as it was always good .

I have made several phone calls only to…

I have made several phone calls only to wait forever and then be disconnected by the company. If I do get someone I have to repeat why I am calling so they understand. Then, they don't have an answer. With very limited options when I live, a fiber cable (that was installed by Astound more than a month ago) would be the best but I have to "bang down their door" just to get service. It's amazing how companies can operate like this. I would like to just skip it all together but really want better reception than what I have. SO FRUSTRATING but unfortunately good customer service has gone away not just with Astound but so many. Thank you for the platform to rant and release. :)

They make it impossible to terminate service.

I called Astound to terminate my service on Dec. 12 2025, and I was told my service would be terminated at the end of the cycle on Dec 26 2026. Fast forward to Jan. 2026, I was still charged for the month of Jan. After calling back on Jan 26. 2026, I was told by a rep that apparently the service was never cancelled, even though they can see I had returned all the equipment already. I was told the rep who received my call in Dec. never actually cancelled the service, so a manager would call me within 48 hours.

It is now 10 days later, on Jan 5. and the rep I spoke to said the service is still not terminated. I still have not gotten a refund. He can't do anything, and needs to speak to a manager to resolve the issue, who never calls back. I have been on the phone for 47 minutes trying to speak to a manager.

My suggestion: AVOID ASTOUND AT ALL COSTS. They will make it impossible to terminate service. Their prices increase for no reason every few months, usually by a few dollars to the point that over the years, it adds up. Additionally, the charge "service fees" on the of the service itself, which was about $18-20 per month. Please go with another internet service provider in your area.
