Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the subscription model, finding it difficult to cancel and often leading to unexpected charges or billing discrepancies. Customers also reported issues with product access, such as purchased books becoming unavailable or requiring repurchase. The customer service was frequently criticized for being unhelpful, difficult to reach, and providing automated responses rather than human assistance. Payment issues, including unexpected charges and difficulties in removing payment information, were also a common complaint. Reviewers also found the website challenging to navigate, particularly when trying to find desired titles or manage their accounts. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with customer service, highlighting quick issue resolution and polite interactions. A few other people also felt that the books themselves were great.

No Customer Service reachable

The books are great but the customer service chat is a robot who doesn't understand anything. Limited amount of possibilities to choose from, you just get rerouted to the same questions over and over again, without ever giving you over to a human. There is no human contact possible. I cannot get my European phone number fit in the call me back brackets. The question I had was not included and I cannot ask anybody Such a pity to run your company like this, really. Why? It is driving away customers.

Garbage support

Garbage support
App did not work for 6 month, 3 different reps gave me incorrect information.
Then the 4th confirmed that there was a bug, apologized for the incorrect information that they provided, yet said she can do nothing to rectify the situation.

Horrible support.

0 stars - use audiobooks.com instead

0 stars. I tried to place an order. It went through and then it was immediately cancelled. Then they put my account on hold for "suspicious activity". This is my first order. Suddenly, hours later my order went through so i called them to cancel because I found another site. She confirmed over the phone it was cancelled and would send confirmation. Never received one and just got another email that my order is confirmed. My account is locked so i cant even cancel it myself. Im being sent in a verification loop and no one is helping. I get placed on hold and transferred and the call drops. The service is terrible!

Pluses and minus with Audible.

First the positive. huge selection and always available.
The CONS. I find the phone app difficult to navigate and use. I am sure if I studied it more it would be easier, but that takes time and that is one thing I don't have. Plus sometimes you know immediately you want to return it. But sometimes it takes a few chapters. Audible does allow this even after several chapters, but not sure why, some books are not returnable for a credit. So I am frozen by trying to find the right book and worrying about wasting a credit. I now feel safer testing the book on Libby or Spotify before I commit. Too much work, so I am seriously considering not renewing. I think Spotify is easier and maybe a better value.

Another retrograde step by Audible

I reviewed Audible in August 2024 but it has become worse since then. I have used Chat to complain at least six times that some of my reviews are not posted. Chat is difficult, first getting through the inadequate dropdown menus, then the people repeatedly do not address my problem, we go around in circles, and it takes ages. But on a couple of occasions my most recent review/s have appeared as a result of the Chat. Sad to say, the problem continues - some reviews are posted and some are not. I've given up on that and now use Goodreads for reviews. But in another downhill step, the Audible site has changed and 'Ratings and Reviews' has disappeared so to see any of my past reviews I have to go to each book individually. Audible used to be so good but I guess with no other audiobook site offering such a huge range I'm stuck with it. Thank goodness for podcasts which partially fill the gap.

Watch your wallets!!!

Have occasionally ordered a book or two on audible but careful not to subscribe because I do not use it that much. Ordered a book to listen to while doing chores. A few months later, I received a charge that overdrew my account. Canceled the membership I never agreed to sign up for, but the site will not allow me to delete all payment methods. It appears to be all of my Amazon payment accounts that were deleted and now Amazon tells me I have to wait two hours to delete what's left there. I never authorized Audible to charge my account in the first place and do not like that they just stick their hands in my Amazon wallet and choose the first card they want and also not allow me to delete my information so it doesn't happen again. I question the legality of this practice but surely no one cares about the consumer while Amazon makes billions.

I purchased 7 harry potter books in 2015 with credits. I can no longer access them. I've reached out to customer service via chat, more than 1 hr later, 2 agents, having to send screenshots of the orders with credits for each book and giving them the order ID i am still going back and forth. I am not sure what is wrong with Audible, but i believe they are opening themselves up to lawsuits. When i buy a book it should be in my library unless the company goes bankrupt.

Learning From Kim's Mistakes...

I have enjoyed "Mistakes That Made Me a Millionaire" by Kim Perell.

I have both the hard copy and the audio version on Audible.

It has been an eye-opening and inspiring journey.

What I truly appreciated about this book is Kim’s unapologetic honesty in sharing her entrepreneurial missteps and the raw, real-life lessons those experiences taught her.

Rather than just celebrating success, she takes you through the challenging, messy moments—those setbacks, failures, and poor decisions that most business books gloss over.

The book’s greatest strength lies in its practical wisdom. Each chapter offers valuable advice from Kim's own experiences, teaching me how to avoid mistakes. I loved that she frames mistakes as powerful learning opportunities, helping readers reframe failure as a stepping stone rather than a roadblock.

By learning from Kim’s mistakes—such as trusting the wrong partners, misreading market signals, and ignoring early warning signs—I feel more equipped to navigate my own challenges with confidence and clarity. This book isn’t just about entrepreneurship, but about cultivating resilience and self-awareness in any life pursuit.

Ultimately, Mistakes That Made Me a Millionaire is a must-read for anyone serious about growth, as it offers a roadmap not just for success, but also for avoiding costly errors and thriving through adversity.

But don't take my word for it - read it for yourself OR, like me, listen to it on Audible.

Putting on record that I have not received an incentive to write the above. :)

Moving abroad major problem

When I moved from Belgium to the Netherlands I lost access to my Audible account. I no longer had my Belgian email address nor phone number. I somehow managed to download my titles on my desktop. I then had to copy all my 300 titles manually to my iPhone, via ITunes. Acces to my existing titles never really worked well after that. In the end, I had to open a new Audible account to acquire new titles. I had been an Audible client for 16 years, but they couldn’t help me.

Audible is such a SCAM

Audible is such a SCAM

I signed up for a membership in June to listen to one book. Right after finishing it, I canceled the membership. Despite this, I keep getting charged—even though my Apple subscriptions clearly show it’s canceled.

Trying to get in touch with support was nearly impossible. Eventually, I found out I apparently have another account under the same email address—how is that even possible? An email should be a unique identifier. They explained that one account is with audible.com and the other with audible.co.uk. Yet, on both sites, there's no visible membership or billing history besides the one book I originally listened to.

Frankly, this isn’t worth the time or money in a busy daily life. There are plenty of honest, reliable alternatives out there.

I REALLY CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THE GREAT AMAZON EXPECTS CUSTOMERS TO DEAL WITH HAVING SEPARATE ACCOUNTS ON DIFFERENT REGIONAL DOMAINS UNDER THE SAME EMAIL. THIS SHOULD NEVER BE THE CUSTOMER’S PROBLEM. I'M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

Gift membership.

Was given a 3 month membership. And was excited to try this out. Now it turns out that I need to provide credit card details in order to use it... Why?? 3 months have been paid, and I want to try it out before deciding if I want to continue this or not. It's a shame, as now the gift givers have spent their money on something I cannot use.
This is exactly why the traditional neighborhood library will never disappear...

Bad one in the books for Audible here ...

One of my favourite apps

I’m honestly surprised at some of the reviews on here because I absolutely love this app. For me, it’s the perfect way to multitask — whether I’m driving, exercising, walking, doing laundry, or just pottering around the house, I can still keep learning and enjoying books online.

I’ve used Audible for years and it’s wonderful. Truly one of my favorite apps.

Highway Robbery. Regular price hikes, lack of transparency & arrogance to their customers, is insulting.

The site advertises Premium Plus price of books as £7.99 but subscribed members are deducted £8.99 from their Bank. When queried... despite sending screenshots of of the books prices .. I was told membership has increased to non new members to £8.99.
Many arguments ensued as I pointed out the prices displayed stated £7.99 for members. I am a member and there is nothing on the site to say an increase. It's theft and deception. They said I can freeze my account for 3 months. But I suspect they will start taking £8.99 as a direct debit next month when it ends. With a library of 114 books...more than enough. I don't think taking anymore money each month for the opportunity to choose more is realistic or cost effective for the consumer. It feels more like shooting fish in a barrel and a company making easy money off their customers. Big disappointment when I really did enjoy Audible and it's value for money. But the regular price hikes and arrogance to customers... is insulting.

Horrible customer service

I started chat with one of their agents, their refund policy says they need you to show that you arent using it as a lending library.. so i wrote up why I wanted to return said books, the agent blatently told me they read the first line and would NOT read the rest of my message. Audible return policy says you must show that you arent taking advantage, or they will lock you out so I wrote 6 sentences showing this. What they could hvae understood from reading the original message would have answered every question they had and stopped them from asking me stupid questions I had already answered. Their is no way to provide feedback about agents so thats probably why their support is so abysmal.

Paid for my books – but Audible locks me out because of an old phone number.

Paid for my books – but Audible locks me out because of an old phone number.

I paid for my books, but Audible/Amazon denies me access – simply because an old phone number is still linked to my account. I have access to my email, but that’s not good enough for them.

I am deeply disappointed. I still have full access to my registered email and can verify my purchases, but Audible/Amazon refuses to accept this. Customer service demanded information I no longer have and refused to find a proper solution.

It is completely unacceptable that I cannot access content I have clearly paid for and can prove ownership of. Instead, I am losing access to my own books – it feels like being held hostage by their system.
