My beloved pet died .

I took my beloved dog to get allergy , arthritic shots . They said he was checked and charged 400.00 for these things combined. He couldn’t walk three days later and I called for an appt. They couldn’t fit him in. He died . I literally know these people are WORTHLESS and could care less about pets. Greed….Spring- Shenandoah, Texas. Worthless humans there

DO NOT sign a contract with them!

They will charge you an enormous amount of money every month and then when you take your pet to his appointments, they REFUSE to do in person appointments and only allow “drop off”. I tried to get out of my contract but they refuse to let me out of it. I will NEVER bring another pet here! Beware!!!!

They Don't Care

I am so disappointed and not satisfied with how Ive been treated. Ive had issues in the past but this one is the cherry on the cake. I booked an appointment for my dog on Friday 01/2/2026 to have a lump checked and also to get vaccines. At the end of the appointment I was told that if my dog has any reactions or if something comes up to not hesitate to call back. Not even 2 hours later, Im in the emergency vet because my dog is having a bad seizure. She has never had a real one before. Not just a quick seizure. She was flopping like a fish out of water, foaming out the mouth, going in and out of consciousness, and defecated all over my partner. After being at the emergency vet, they couldn't really figure out what caused it but he did mention to me that the vaccines and stress could have definitely been the cause of it. They listed it as a grand mal seizure because it lasted over 15 minutes. She could have DIED! The emergency doctor told me to get into contact with her primary vet immediately. I called the very next morning, 30 mins after opening and was told my vet was unable and that she would call me back. I can be flexible but this is an important manner, figured the doctor knowing the circumstances would at least call me back by the end of the day to check in because IT IS A BIG DEAL! Nope. No call back. I tried calling 4x today, Sunday 01/4/26. Finally someone picked up and they only have a floater doctor? Really disappointing to have this happen after being told to call if something happens. How am I supposed to trust this doctor, the staff of this location, or honestly this vet as a whole, when I can't even be treated as if this situation matters!? Im disgusted with how this is being handled. I honestly will be calling Monday to receive a copy of my two dogs records and I will be looking for a better vet that actually shows they care. Im not sure what exactly happened when they took my dog into the back room but all I have to say is never again. I will be telling everyone Im close to about this situation and to not trust Banfield. I work with dogs too and I know how important safety, health concerns and communication is. I will fight to get my wellness plan cancelled. Horrible service. Horrible care. Doesn't even deserve a 1 star. Adding picture proof of hospital visit.

Prolonged Suffering Caused by Refusal of Humane End-of-Life Care

My experience with Banfield Pet Hospital was deeply distressing and resulted in unnecessary suffering for my cat.

My cat had a documented history of chronic gastrointestinal disease, pica, and repeated linear foreign body ingestion, including a prior emergency abdominal surgery. During this visit, Banfield confirmed she once again had a linear foreign body in her intestines, elevated white blood cell count, and active inflammation. This was not a simple or first-time issue; it was a recurring, chronic medical condition.

The veterinarian informed me that my cat would need another emergency surgery, followed by lifelong medications, with no assurance that this behavior or condition would stop.

Given her tiny size, weight loss, her prior surgery, her ongoing illness, and her declining quality of life, I expressed my for humane euthanasia to prevent further suffering.

Instead of respecting this medically reasonable decision, the Banfield vet emotionally pressured me to continue treatment I could not afford and did not feel was in my cat’s best interest. I was made to feel guilty for wanting to prevent her pain, despite the veterinarian acknowledging her chronic disease and need for repeated surgeries.
Banfield sent my cat home without any pain medication, anti-nausea medication, anti-inflammatory medication, or palliative care, despite knowing she had an active intestinal foreign body and significant inflammation. I was given a short handwritten list of rescues, none of whom were accepting animals, particularly during a holiday week. No meaningful effort was made to coordinate care, contact these organizations, or ensure my cat’s comfort or safety.
As a result, my cat continued to deteriorate at home for several days while I desperately tried to find help. She experienced prolonged suffering that could have been prevented if Banfield had either honored my end-of-life decision or provided appropriate comfort care when discharging her.

This was was about quality of life, medical reality, and mercy. The emotional manipulation, refusal to provide humane end-of-life care, and abandonment of a suffering patient was devastating.

I would strongly caution others to consider alternative veterinary care, especially when facing complex medical conditions or end-of-life decisions.

First visit

Check in: very bland
Atmosphere: very bland
Dr. Harvison: didn't get a chance to meet he or she bc they wouldn't see my dog bc we didn't purchase one of the wellness plans and my dog was up to date with his shots. The assistant was nice but was basically being used as a messenger for Dr. Harvison. I won't return because I see this place is about money, once they saw I wasn't buying one of those useless plans, they were ready for us to go. BEWARE EVERYONE! Also if you get an ad from Banfield stating your pets first visit is free, make sure you have the coupon with you bc per the assistant "they will make you pay $75'. Definitely will not be returning and advising others to do their research first.

My dog passed away 2 months ago

My dog passed away 2 months ago, and they expect me to still pay OWP. It is so ridiculous like what am I gonna do with it? I sure as heck can’t use it for myself. So from now up until September of 2026 I will be reminded monthly that my dog has passed away because of the OWP charge.

The manager for this Banfield location is horrible…

The manager for this Banfield location in San Pedro shouldn’t be a manager at all!!! . She is rude, very condescending to customers and has no customer care skills. I wouldn’t trust her at all dealing with my account because who knows what notes she’s putting on there??
They switched my dogs medicated shampoo without letting me know and that caused my dog to have the worst flare up. And when I brought this up to them - this manager made me bring the old shampoo as proof, told me that in her notes the doctor mentioned to continue the shampoo (as if I was supposed to know that it was a different one) and then said that I should have noticed it was different because there was a small bar in the front with a different color!!
There was no remorse or admittance that they gave me the wrong shampoo to begin with!! and when I asked her to pls stop speaking to me so condescendingly and stop trying to accuse me that I should have known … she didn’t stop and just became even more rude and insolent.

This is completely horrible management!!

I tried Banfield because they had a…

I tried Banfield because they had a free visit. And they sure treated it as though it was a free visit; rushing me and Lulu out, not providing much information, other than trying to get me to buy their packages.. The doctor gave very generic answers and information that did not pertain to my cat specifically i.e , things I could have googled. When I was finished my visit I was so disappointed that I forgot to pay. The hospital called me back and I apologized and said I would return in 30 mins- an hr to pay. The person on the telephone was very rude and mentioned that if I did not return by 3pm that further action would be taken. When I paid and left the doctor I had to email them because they did not provide me with any notes, vaccine documentation, or visit notes. When I received the email, they also included in their notes that the customer left without paying and stated that she would return in 30 mins to an hr and that I was reminded that further action would be taken. Extremely unnecessary and impolite. I wouldn't even take my pets back for a free visit.

Beware of Banfield Pet Hospital…

Beware of Banfield Pet Hospital Insurance. We went to Banfield Pet Hospital in Wesley Chapel for years. Took out insurance on all of our pets until the manager at that time left. Things changed after she left so we stopped going & called to cancel the pet insurance this past March. I was assured by someone identifying as Michelle that this was done. I have called 3 diff. times because they are still charging my credit card & will not stop. This past Monday Dec 1st. I called again & was told that they had no record of me calling EVER to cancel. That they could only give me 2 months credit & would cancel any future payments as long as I didn't owe them anything. None of my pets have been there since the first of this year. How can I owe them anything? Not to mention 2 of the pets that they are billing me for are dead. This morning I check on my credit card & guess what.... another charge from Banfield Pet Insurance for dead pets. In calling my credit card for help, it's like talking to a stop sign because customer services are either in India or the Philippines. All they say is they can send a letter of dispute. No one can give me an actually phone number for their headquarters for either Banfield or my credit card to actually talk to a person that has authority able to actually do something about this run around I'm getting from both businesses.
I do believe businesses hire these out of country call centers labeled as CUSTOMER SERVICE so they can rip us off. I'm to the point off hiring an attorney I'm so flipping mad. Anyone know of one that does this type of work?
BTW.... just wanted to mention.... You know how when you call a business there's a recording saying your call may be recorded for customer service purposes???
In calling Banfield Insurance they say that but when I mentioned to Carlos that I was recording them, I was hung up on. Now why is it ok for them to record the phone caller but not for the caller to record them?

Price gouging and unethical

I was misled and l believe purposefully by the vet tech because they earn commission on selling a wellness plan. Here is what happened to make me say stay away as this practice appears to prioritize profits over the health of your pet.

I was took my cat in for shots and asked if they would trim his matted hair while l was there. I told that my cat would have to be put under in order to get his hair trimmed around his bum. I specifically asked could l not just take him to the groomers? The answer came back that l wouldn't find anyone to do it. The area is too sensitive. The cost of the procedure was going to be astronomical. This is when she said you need to buy a wellness plan and you should get the dental plan so that is the only way to get some discount on the anesthetic and so we will shave him as you've requested and we can also clean his teeth at the same time.
The wellness plan would cost me at least $900 plus the sign up fee so just under $1,000 for a year. I understand that some plans covered by vets can save you money, but in my experience this plan is deceptive and is predatory.

Moreover, I don't believe that any human or animal should be unnecessarily put under general anesthesia. The vet herself told me that the cat had a heart murmur which she said could mean he had roughly a 25% chance of not surviving the procedures. I now question whether that statistic is close to true but regardless, there was risk involved. The animal would have to be very closely monitored and given special blood work prior and a special anesthetic. They were willing to put the health of my cat at risk completely unnecessarily.

Having signed up for the plan after being made to feel scared and pressured, l left. I then went to a local groomer and they took care of the cat for a reasonable amount of money in a very short period of time. The cat was very well-behaved at the vet and also at the groomer. There was no reason to think that he would protest to a degree that he should be drugged.

I was supposed to have the exam covered by a promotional $75 discount. The cat had a one year rabies shot and a distemper shot and the visit ended up costing me $340 with the discount applied. I was supposed to be able to cancel the plan anytime and just choose to pay full price for the services rendered. That price was over $400! What a nightmare.

UPDATE
I called and l spoke to the doctor afterwards because l was so upset. She tried gaslighting me. She told me that they were going to put the cat and only because I requested his teeth be cleaned. No! I was only having his teeth cleaned because l had to pay for the wellness plan that included dental inorder to get a discount on the anesthesia. Vet tech told me that the matting iwas pulling his skin, would only get worse and that it was very painful for him. I also told her they charged me for cutting his nails although the tech said they should wait and do everything at the same time. She said she couldn't remember and so the bill could not be adjusted. It was only $21 but it did add insult to injury

my dogSiAnna Sioux

my dog. SiAnna Sioux
needs ultrasound and Spleen removal
she dies

advised by Banfield in PetSmart, Sandy, Utah of 4 options on paper where this is done. advised the best option is livewell Clinic down in Pleasant Grove, Utah and 40 minutes away. drove to this clinic and waited 5 hours for my dog to be out of surgery advised by Livwell they have NO overnight accommodations for my dog after surgery I drive 40 minutes back in the dark, approaching midnight to The mountain West hospital in Bluffdale for overnight accommodations that can be provided. >>> Mountain West hospital could have performed the ultrasound and surgery and provided overnight accommodations and was 10 minutes away from where I live<<<. since you do not know that lifting a dog in and out of the car in her delicate state after surgery and transferring her in a car 40 minutes away is not recommended and it would be considered poorly advised and not recommended by any professional veterinarian I will have to inform you, this is fact

Banfield and your Poorly advised doctors put my dogs Health and well-being And my life (very tired approaching midnight pissed off I’m scared for my
dog) in jeopardy….. why was this clinic 10 minutes from my home and nearby not initially advised as the clinic to go to that could have provided the ultrasound and surgery and overnight accommodations for my dog…. And was a much much better option for the professional and good care of my dog- this is a new state of the art facility with older and more experienced doctors, and with a very, very professional large staff

this is called incompetence and stupidity

thank you, Paul, C Merk. draper Utah

Not horrible, just not good

Visited in Vandalia, OH. I am hoping to get started with a new vet but I have doubts whether this will be the one. First impressions: I walked in the door and was hit with STRONG cinnamon spice air freshener. It's a little thing, but my eyes were burning and I don't see how it can be good for the animals. No one was at either the check out or check in desk and many people were waiting. One person finally came out to handle both desks, so it was still slow. I over-heard someone in another room explaining that there was currently no permanent vet in the practice, just "experienced vets" filling in, which was a little concerning. I told the front desk why I was there & mentioned a couple of minor things to have checked, none of which seemed to reach the techs or Dr who did the exam. It was the same when I checked out, having been told there would be no need for a booster shot, then being asked about scheduling the booster. I had to sit through a hard-sell for the wellness plan several times, from each person I saw, which took longer than the actual exam. Positives? It is easy to book appointments on line & there is not a long wait for one. The employees seem to care about animals and could maybe do better if not in a setting where they are pressed for time & expected to be salespeople first.

Pets at the Oxnard location aren't safe.

This review is specific to the Banfield location in Oxnard, CA on Rose Ave. (Prior to this and since this visit I've experienced vets who care for our pets.)

We brought our dog to the Banfield location in Oxnard, CA last week.  He had been vomiting, coughing, and his diet had changed completely.

The vet we saw was dismissive and combative.  She also neglected to tell me that Cooper had a heart murmur - although she noted it in his electronic file.

When he declined even more, we brought him to the WestLake Village office where we learned that Cooper has an enlarged heart, a leaky valve and that he needs to be seen by a cardiologist immediately.

It's outrageous that this was missed.  We've lost valuable time getting Cooper the care he needs.  We have a cardiologist appointment now for the 21st.  Had we known a week ago about his condition - we could have acted more quickly.

An example of her combativeness - when I asked if she recommended that we keep Cooper on fish oil supplements - her response was, sure, if you don't care about his weight.  She avoided eye contact most of the visit, didn't introduce herself and didn't interact with Cooper at all - in front of me.

It's worth saying that the tech was incredibly kind and responsive in engaging with Cooper, but it's the vet who provides the medical care and it's clear that pets under this woman's care aren't safe.

Run Away

My wife took my dog in for a dental cleaning. She told them on arrival that he had a sensitive lower back and to please be gentle with him. When we brought Bandit home he was unable to put weight on his rear leg and could not climb steps. I had to bring his dinner to hem because he had a hard time getting off the couch. When I called today the had already refused to check him out with my wife present, they refused to put a manager on the phone, refused to give me the number for a district manager, and then abruptly hung up on me. I see on the internet this company is being sued by a doctor that worked for them because he was fired for complaining about their shoddy service and price gouging. NEVER NEVER NEVER take your pet here. He or she may come back to you injured like Bandit. Steer clear of this or any Banfield Pet Hospitals, they are the worst.

Dont use Banfield Vets ever

Dont use Banfield Vets ever, all of their google reviews are fake.

I am writing this review in hopes that Banfield will never be able to steal from other people.

This will be long and contains at least 3 felonious acts by Banfield. Felonious means that they have commit felonies against me on 3 separate occassions.

My wife signed my cat up for a payment plan. Banfield never did any of this plan.. not a single thing that they promised for the money. He got no shots.

We did get charged over 1000 dollars for Xrays and ultrasounds but we have received absolutely none of the services they promised.

I never authorized Banfield to take money from my account. Not one time did they have permission to charge my card. I tried to call and cancel this plan and spoke to someone named Cathy.

Me: I would like to cancel my payment plan. We have received none of the promised services. Please cancel my plan.
Cathy: I will need your wife to call to cancel the account.
Me: Well, we're married and you are charging my card without having permission to charge it. If were not counting marriage as a legal partnership to cancel a plan, than it's also not legal for you to charge my card without my permission. I need to warn you that I am also recording this phone call.
Cathy: I'm sorry, sir, but that's illegal.
Me: Actually Cathy, in the State of NJ I don't even need to inform you that I'm recording.. it was more of a courtesy.
Cathy: I can't talk to you anymore.
Me: Ok, Cathy, what's your last name?
Cathy: I can't tell you that.
Me: Ok, Cathy, how can I identify you to a supervisor when I call back?
Cathy Hung up. I did not record the call, but she did.

I called the Moorestown branch where we went and asked for a supervisor. I spoke to the phone person who assured me that they would have a supervisor call me back. They never did.

I had my wife call and cancel the payment plan and they told her she could not cancel it and that they were going to now charge us 800 more dollars.
I went to my bank and cancelled the card, citing fraud and they were still able to charge me!
I'm not out over 2000 dollars and have received NO service.

How this place is able to maintian a 4.6 rating while also commiting multiple acts of fraud is unreal.
I ended up going to Audubon Vet and getting all of the stuff we asked for for 300 dollars.. but 2000 dollars to Banfield and they will not call me back.. they will not cancel our plan and they have commit fraud multiple times.

Please don't bring your pets here, they deserve better.

I'm going to post this in every place I can leave review online. I'm going to report these people to any government agency that will hear me.

DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE STEAL FROM YOU.
