My 2nd attempt with BOW rocky start
My 2nd attempt with BOW only because they’re directly across the street. I opened my new account over 2 weeks ago and still haven’t received my debit card I was told takes about a week. After navigating through the telephone menu for a good 5 minutes I finally reach a person (sort of,) the dial tone ends and I listen to what sounds like someone washing dishes for about 10 min. Another 5 minutes of verifying who I am to be placed on hold for 35 minutes only to find out it takes 3 weeks for them to send a debit card out. Ive been getting letter’s every few days of them trying to sell me more things but 3 weeks just to get a debit card? Very bad restart. Also no way to transfer money out of the bank account to a different one… they offer a service but its been down the length of my account. Multiple ways to get money in… I have to go inside the bank to get money out… during business hours only of course
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
If I could have gave this bank a -5 stars I would have their credit management and staff are horrible. In stead of them dealing with the problem they hung up on me 5 times. When I asked for someone above these manager I got there was no one above them so I can only assume that the CFO is below them. These people are pure morons I went into the branch I cashed a $9,500 check drawn on this bank I took 2,500 and I paid off my credit card 48 hours later I went to use my credit card it was declined I called the bank and said hey i paid off my account and you show you got the payment the lady said they have to do a investigation to see where I got the money from WFT your money will be available July 12th your kidding right I gave you cash and you want me to call the electric company to give be a extension because you want me to o call and get a extension how about you release my money and stop acting stupid with me. DO NOT BANK WITH THIS PLACE everyone is horrible and customer service sucks.
Pathetic customer service, absolutely deplorable.
It's shocking to experience such absolutely dismal, incompetent, utterly deplorable customer service. The service is anything but! Tried to open an online account for my daughter, after she had already opened an account at a branch. Ended up getting locked out after inputting -- correctly -- all details in the series of questions. Then was asked to call their toll-free number and this is where the nightmares began. 3 calls with over 2 hours of time wasted and each agent comes across as arrogant, condescending, incompetent, ignorant, and quite simply neither willing nor able to resolve a simple customer request. Shudder to think how this bank has survived in the US for so long. Have realized that it was my mistake to interact with this hopeless bank in the first place. Do not bother opening an account here. Stay away. I never give such reviews but felt compelled to so it protects others who might be considering opening an account and end up wasting valuable time.
I go to the bank today to cash my…
I go to the bank today to cash my stimulus check I took my ID my wife's ID my pnm bill my wife's not on my account that's why I took everything yet I couldn't cash the check but yet another person a while backwent not in my account didn't have my driver's license and I wasn't there and you guys gave her over $400 of my money his bank is so stupid honestly you go in the same person's never there always somebody new always somebody training I'm in banking here for over 30 years in this Bank gets worse this branch
I have both a business and personal…
I have both a business and personal account with these imbeciles. I am repeatedly getting locked out so I cannot deposit customer checks, pay employees or vendors. Spent hours calling customer service, it was like dealing with the immature mentally stunted 3rd graders. Walked into a branch, the manager simply shrugged his pathetic gen Z shoulders and said he didn't know??? Just pathetic stupid and incompetent.
Horrible bank, steer clear
Horrible, horrible customer service. Service was already bad before the BMO acquisition, now it's worse. I've been hesitant to switch due to all my direct deposits set up but this last incident was it for me. They initially accepted my tax return check deposit. Then 15 min later called me saying they need to see my tax return. I told them, "Its a check from the US Treasury, I'm sure they're good for it. Besides I've been a customer for the last 30 years when they you were Sanwa Bank, I'm not trying to pull anything shady. I'm also not asking for a withdrawal on it, just hold it until it clears." She refused and insisted I bring my return. I called the 800 number, they played the let me transfer you then pretend I can't hear you game. I know they could because the lady would pause when I said a few choice words. I immediately changed all my direct deposits to a bank I opened a checking account that day. DO NOT USE THIS BANK, THEY WILL HOLD YOUR MONEY HOSTAGE!
Terrible bank
Terrible bank. charge $25 per month for checking account. Charged me over $500 in monthly checking account charges and no one called me about my balance being below$20k. takes forever to link an account. way, way behind the times. they don't pay any interest on $. Don't sign up for this bank.
Another bank going downhill!!
Bank of the West has gone downhill. Used to be a good bank. Have been with them for 15 years and every year they get worse and slower.
Am going to switch banks soon.
Their customer service is great when you can talk to someone that knows what they're doing, otherwise it's incompetent.
It's a wonder more banks are going out of business..
This one will probably be next!
So many problems setting up and such…
So many problems setting up and such bad customer service. Some are rude, some don't even listen to my needs and just talk and talk and talk. It's very frustrating. I was going to switch my checking and savings over to them but couldn't get the help I needed so I cancelled the process. They are also not able to get my online account working so I can't login to do anything. I have a credit card through them and I'm extremely nervous about it.
I detest service with this bank
I detest service with this bank. Soo many issues and NO reliable customer service, unprofessional at times, lost money deposited, would not respond to requests- from the top -down. I had three accounts in three states, and could not hardly wait to close all three. Same NO service every bank.
This was on multiple occasions.
I purchased a boat from Bass Pro Shop…
I purchased a boat from Bass Pro Shop and use Bank of the West. I tried to set up my online account to make loan payments, and access was denied. I mean, literally, they would not give me access to manage my online account or to make payments. I called to pay the entire balance 35K+, and was told I could not pay the balance over the phone and had to mail a check. Mailed a check to the address on the statement, which was received by Bank of the West days ago, and the check is still not cashed. Meanwhile, the loan continues to accrue interest. I called Bank of the West, and they said the payoff address is a different address than regular payments, and they are sending the check via intercompany mail. I cannot imagine doing business with Bank of the West, as the customer experience is horrible. I am sure any late payments would be promptly reported to the credit bureaus. Take my advice and choose a different bank. Looks like the 1-star reviews are well deserved! I just hope they get my payments applied and close the account timely so I don’t have to go to the Attorney General.
Marriage is Unheard of
That was, quite literally, the worst banking experience I ever had. I opened up an account online on the 20th of March, and I just closed it today. The reason, because no one in the back office could understand that I got married and my last name would be different. I brought in my old passport, with my maiden name, along with my new passport. I even brought in my marriage certificate and birth certificates to show the progression, and they still couldn't do anything for me. They wanted my social security card within 10 days. I asked them, because I don't know how long it takes to be issued a new one, if I could bring in the letter that I requested on, and they said that I couldn't even though the letter would've been issued by the SAME Social Security Office that would've sent me the new card. The level of anti-intellectualism that permeates that bank is insane. Please, please, please do not go to this bank. They'll be a headache from start to finish.
This is the worst bank I ever…
This is the worst bank I ever experienced. I applied credit card last October and set up auto pay in December. After I set up I called to make sure they received and all set up. I was confirmed all set and auto pay would be effected from February. I paid January, but February did not go. Oscar found out that I set up auto pay inn December and he told me that it would go from March, but didn't. I payed all the statement fee over the phone, but because I did not want to continue anymore this, I contacted administration office. After many tries, I could talk to Dana Mowley . She apologized and promised to call me back why this happened , but she never did. I left many massages, but in 3 days, she never replied. I tried to talk with the other person, but no one picks up and never reply to me. This is not acceptable as a banker. I had BNP Bank and their credit card in France for 25 years. It is the same company. I was very happy . Not even one complains. This was the only bank I had. In America I have major 3 banks and their credit and others 7 credit card such as Target. All were set auto pay because I travel often in past 40 years. It must be auto pay. I never had any problems. I do not need this headache any more, I want to close this card, but that effects to my credit score. This month they charged late fee, They failed to take my money. I need to solve this matter forever.

Casper Wyomings customer service is…
Casper Wyomings customer service is horrible. Bank manager never returned my calls. Sweeps issues under the rug by not calling back, very unconcerned about customers needs. There needs to be more training in customer service!!! Don’t answer the phone and say anything and never have answer to where your account went. No one can find it and they don’t even know there bank codes so they can tell you where your money went. Still waiting for the bank manger to call back it’s been 24 hours and it Friday afternoon??
Bank of the West is incompetent
Husband got an RV loan and it has been like pulling teeth just to get them to get the loan account to where we can set up payments. At first they sent a denial letter even though we were approved but then said the dealer sent paperwork that was not legible. The dealer sent the exact paperwork to them again and surprise they setup and account but now can't get online access.....my husband has requested for them to talk to me cause I handle the finances and they said they can't unless he is around but someone else said they were sending is a form so I could be added as someone they can talk to but next person we talk to says there is no form. This is the most incompetent bank I have ever dealt with before and they made a less than 20k loan harder to deal with than loans to build a house. I will be either paying this off soon just so I don't have to deal with them or refinancing with a different company. Bank of the West sucks!
Financed an RV with them
Financed an RV with them, they neglected to send paper work for me to be able to make first payment. So I was late on payment by the time it arrived. They made me pay a late fee because of their negligence. Fast forward to 3 years later while paying off my RV, they added interest to every extra payment I made to principal. This included the last payment. Do not do business with bank of the west it will be a headache from the start!
Father passed away
Father passed away, went to go payoff the credit card like a decent human being before I notified and closed the account. Payment due said $753, I paid it, now they tell me that was an overpayment in the amount of $445. OK so any normal company with a soul and half a heart would go "OK we will reverse the overpayment and place it back in the still open checking account that it was paid from"
They did the furthest thing from what would be simple customer service.
Bank of the West choose, from what I can the tell, the most absolute callous and inhumane way to handle this situation. They are now requiring me to fill out an affidavit, have it notarized and sent in with my father's death certificate. Notrized documents and death certificate both of which cost money. And then when and if they feel like it they will mail a check to my dead fathers address, which I can't change and don't have access to the address.
I have never in my life been at the receiving end of such indifference to a person in mourning attempting to do the right thing. So I guess they are just going to keep my money at this point, money I would have liked to use to pay off medical debt from the illness that took him. Thanks again Bank of the West.
Too bad one star is the lowest rating…
Too bad one star is the lowest rating for this wretched bank. Customer service is simply non-existent.
Closed my bank account while visiting another country
Closed my bank account while visiting another country. Not only do I not have access to my bank account, I don't have access to my money, which was withdrawn by the bank. Check was sent to an old address.
If you want your money secure, do NOT use Bank of the West.
