Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. Especially if you reside outside of Morocco. They are not honest and your money will disappear a little by littLe. Customer service is nonexistent over the phone and online. I had to travel and be physically present to close my account and they still didn’t want to close it. If you ever want to close your account make sure you receive the paperwork. You might leave just to find out your account is still open.

If I could give a lower rating

If I could give a lower rating, I would. Avoid Banque Populaire ATMs like the plague. When the Euro was less than 1.04 to one US dollar, this bank extorted an exchange rate of more than 0.848.

This is by far the worst bank around

This is by far the worst bank around. I've made a mistake while making a cash transfer. The only way to cancel and fix the issue is to buy a ticket and fly from London to Morocco. I've called my branch holding my account and achieved nothing! There is nothing they can do to give me my 3000.00 Dirhams back. This is crazy and unacceptable.

I am unable to get a password from this…

I am unable to get a password from this bank to access my BP online account from the UK. This has been going on for years now. They wont send me anything via text or email to allow me access and they wont send instructions by post either. Absolutely useless as a bank. Very frustrating indeed. How can I pay bills online from the UK !!!!

I requested that my account be closed…

I requested that my account be closed and funds sent to my UK bank on 30th March. They have closed my account and sent the funds to UK but the funds were returned 25th April as insufficient information provided. Since 25th April thay have refused to assist and although I sent a complaint via their online system 2 weeks ago I have only received an automated acknowledgement.

Awful customer service !

The service is awful all across the board. I was a client for many years but decided to change since I noticed a big change in customer service. Do not select them, as you will loose trust and confidence for sure.

Unbelievably awful

BP Centre Atlantique is unbelievably awful. Slow, expensive, old fashioned. Incompetent. They don't accept the "wrong" sort of Euros. I paid in a cheque raised in Cyprus & they not only failed to process it but omitted to tell me. When I queried it they said it was because it was a Greek bank so they would not accept it. And the point of a single currency is .....? At today's date they are refusing to allow me to make an online transfer because they say the accounts to which I wish to make payments are not authorised. This is even though I have made fully authorised previous payments to both recipients. I have twice asked for a detailed explanation but not received one. Just whose money do they think it is? That's it. Enough is enough. I am closing the account and raising a formal complaint.

Worst bank ever

They apply charges in the context of closing the account, which is an illegal practice. They put those charges under the category of transfer, but the customer can not do the last transfer of the funds by himself, so quite dodgy overall...
The lack of communication is a recurring problem. but it gets even worst when you are not native French speaker.

Is there a way to give this bank zero…

Is there a way to give this bank zero stars? I wish I had found these reviews before dealing with this bank. I never would have. I'm not going to go into my experience other than to say I would echo just about every one of them. This bank is corrupt. Even the top officals don't know what they are doing. They not only steal the money in your account but the money in your pocket. The biggest joke is the 72 hour time table they don't tell you about. This come about when you are supposedly making a payment on ANYTHING. If it is not there in 72 hours, they charge you a fee. Only then do they tell you the story about these late fees. All I can say is run do not walk from ALL branches of this "bank". They are corrupt, I would even say criminals. They don't care about you, just how fast they can get your.money.

y a-t-il quelqu’un à la Banque Populaire?!!!!

I live in the UK and have banked with Banque Populaire for around 20 years purely because my mortgage was held there. At one time there was an English speaking man who would deal with my account on the basis he was in the International Department. For the past five years, since he disappeared without a trace, I have not had responses to my phone calls, emails, letters. I cannot even notify them of my change of address because they do not respond to any communication. When I call there is no-one who speaks English and when I explain in French that I cannot speak fluent French, and ask is there anyone I can speak to in English, in the International Department, in English, they respond Non. Simply Non. It is absolutely incredible that I have no responses to any of my communication. Its like they don't exist. I would never ever recommend this bank. Avoid!!!!

Kindly change your bank's mission statement

Well, reading about this bank, I can understand why this branch Rives Paris in Antony is filled with incompetent people.
For a bank that writes a lot about upholding integrity, I really wonder.
My wife and I opened an account in 8th August 2020 at this branch, Rives. We opened a joint account and requested for 2 cards. There was a colleague with me.
They kept messing up our application and did not send our cards out. We also received only 1 card yesterday, 8th September 2020.
They also had the audacity to charge us for delivery of the only card after the whole mess they made.
They also did not inform us that they were going to charge us nor obtain our consent to debit our account.
I found out they debited our account only when I logged on today, 9th Sept 2020.
Frankly, this is the worst bank I have had to deal with. They are second to none.
For anyone who wants to open an account, please give this bank a miss. You will not regret it.
They also made us 2 promises which they failed on miserably. They claimed to have even sent our cards to a wrong address!
If the bank wants, I am ready to provide all the email trails to them for authentication.
Last but not least, I have money in the account for some time now but had to borrow from my employer to buy food. That's the embarrassing position these officers at the branch put me and my wife in.

I have called and emailed several times and receive no response. I live in the USA and have not been able to access my account for years. My bills in France are set up to automatically pay from this account. I do not have access to the account and have no idea of the balance. Please, someone, help me.
