I had an electrical inspection, followed by installation of a new fuse box and re-wiring to bring a rental property in line with Gov’t regulations in Oct 21. 5 months later, the fuse box almost ignited, but burnt a large part of the fuse box, due to poor fitting. If the tenant wasn’t home at the time, it could have easily caught fire and set the house ablaze. It took a few weeks of me chasing a refund for the call out fee, but it came absent an apology or an explanation. More burning followed 12 months later, Barlows charged the usual call out fee, but would not take responsibility, so I did not get a refund.
Since, I have chased an explanation of their findings and a reason why I’m having issues after their apparent work when I didn’t have any issues prior (and just shy of £1000 down in the process). I’ve tried to contact the Manchester office and their HQ, but have been ignored and none of their ‘specialists’ have bothered to return my calls.
Shoddy work, appalling customer service. Use someone else.
Over priced.
My friend called these to replace a bathroom basin waste, took 20 mins after he had to go get one which prob cost no more that 15quid. They had the cheek to send a bill for £120, absolutely disgusting. DO NOT USE THIS Company, there are much better and fairer plumbers out there.
Allowing their people to park in disabled bays
Driver and passenger responded aggressively and the company did not even care about the fact that someone had nowhere to park as they had occupied this disabled parking space... Disgusted!
Very poor service
Very poor service - they came out on emergency cover on my insurance waited all day and when they turned up at 6:00 pm bad attitude you could Tell the electrician didn’t want to be here and didn’t want to do the job!!! Left after 10 mins saying nothing he could do. Had to call someone else out and they helped us sort the problem. Don’t use them - waste of space

Barlows service has not been good, i ordered a washing machine, promised phone call didnt happen, wrongly billed and then chased for payment when i had paid, wouldnt recommend
Management absolute Joke
Management absolute Joke, contacted them on several occasions for the past few years regarding an employee of theirs who continues to block my car in, making general parking difficult, make it difficult for bin services, emergency services & health services to pass on the street although they have their own driveway.
Several complaints made by several residents resulted in promises made to insure the their work vehicles are kept on their driveway but they are never kept.
Just no authority there it has unfortunately taken phone calls to the police to resolve.
Still having problems to date.
Purchase of replacement dishwasher
Purchase of replacement dishwasher - excellent service from Gareth in the Ellesmere shop - great advice and product knowledge and keeping us updated re delivery and installation.
This followed by outstanding service by Gareth the fitter who coped with an inquisitive dog and did a superb job of the integrated dishwasher installation - many thanks.
Absolutely ridiculous road presence
Absolutely ridiculous road presence, Friday the 6th of may, i had the unfortunate chance of meeting one of their drivers, who decided to drive like such a loon.
i would not do business with them if this is the type of people they employ, i mean i understanding wanting to get home on a Friday but this is taking the p**s.

Absolute nightmare
I have had an absolute nightmare having my house rewired by Barlows. At this point, I've been chasing them for over 5 weeks to try and get the second fix completed. Each time they send someone out it's a new person that's totally unfamiliar with the job. I've had my boiler disconnected for over a week now and hence no central heating (in Jan/Feb). I've had absolutely no communication from the Barlow's team to arrange people to finish the job and have to continually call them to prompt them into doing anything. Countless errors have been made throughout the project. Strongly recommend avoiding this company!

Bought television from Barlow's in Whitchurch, after visiting other known outlets, decided to buy from Barlow's due to helpful and informative staff , special thanks to Peter at Whitchurch. Would definitely do business there again. Also thanks to Richard who set up TV for us . 10/10 . Mr price
Reasonable price and very friendly service
Used Barlows to test electrics in house before selling, great service team were very professional and found minor issues which they fixed. Reasonable price and very friendly service. Would recommend, in fact just called them about the new flat and having a quote prepared.
Felt ripped off by Barlows
Barlows serviced our boiler on 30th April, at the same time the Technician did a drop test at the gas main and the pressure drop wes in excess of that allowed. He therefore shut off our gas supply Including the central heating. So as pensioners ( I was 81 at the time), a bank holiday weekend and an absolutely freezing start to May, we were left in the cold. On Tuesday 4th May, Barlows have us an estimate to run new pipework, the labour cost was close to £1000 per Technician per day, I considered this high and said so, but we were desperate to get our heating back. This was done by the Friday. However to get the whole job done took another 2 visits, numerous emails, many not answered, evasive or answers to an entirely different question given. Eventually a letter to Mr Barlow got the job completed on 18th August. However at no time did Barlows generally answer all the questions asked, blamed human error for not answering emails (a somewhat concerning admission for a company in the highly regulated gas and electrical industry) and generally failed to take any responsibility for the debacle. They are however good at taking the money, I sent a cheque by post on a Monday, it was out of our account by the Friday. How did we feel at the end, ripped off by a company that knew how desperate we were to get some heat back I to the house and how seemed determined not to answer questions or take any responsibility.
