The worst customer service I have ever…
The worst customer service I have ever experienced from a motor vehicle service department. On one occasion upon collecting my car I noticed it had been hit on the rear quarter. They tried to claim I had done it and only took responsibility once I raised my voice in front of other customers in the showroom. Even when they did agree to pay for and undertake the repairs it had to be done at another centre which took longer than expected.
Most recently I booked it in for an MOT and vehicle health check only to find after waiting 6 hours it had still not been done and that they couldn’t guarantee if I stayed that it would be done by 5pm!
Totally unacceptable and they will no longer get another chance from me.
Poor customer service, avoid at all costs!
I have recently had issues with my new BMW X3 2020. The dealership has been unhelpful and are not responding to my complaints nor are they offering any resolution or response.
I have tried to escalate my complaint but I am still not getting any response!

Stay Away, AVOID !! The service team is a joke - Barons Cambridge BMW, Cambourne
First ever review in my life and I am utterly disappointed it is negative. It is sheer waste of my time to review. Please STAY AWAY from this place if your car needs repair. Their sales team seems to be professional though. However, the service team is a joke, they mock you, and they argue with you, they cheat you.!
My car’s low engine oil warning started to appear every now and then and will disappear. I used call them and report as it first happened weeks after full service at Barons Cambridge. The person at the service department told me, “the engine oil is definitely not low and the light just needs to reset and is not urgent, whenever you come we will reset for you.” They have been resetting this for the last 2 years. They have also noticed engine oil level was substantially low (while full service) though I haven’t driven the car much in 2020 due to national lockdown.
I did full service at Barons Cambridge in September 2020 and MOT with vehicle health check in February 2021. So on 28th April 2021 while I was driving, smoke came out of the hood and had an emergency stop. My car was then taken to Barons Cambridge in a recovery truck.
The service advisor gave me a call and told they need to do an investigation and will cost £165, which I have agreed straightway. They should have conducted this investigation when I reported about the warning light or at least when the engine oil level was substantially low without driving in lockdown.
The service advisor gave sent me an invoice of around £3000 (£1600 for the first phase and the rest for the second). The quote was for repairing timing chain, including guides and tensioners replacing + sump removing, cleansing fully and the oil pump and strainer replacing. I have spoken to many local garages (with many years in trade) and all couldn’t understand it clearly especially the need of new pump.
Finally, I have decided to carry on the work with Barons Cambridge.
Why you should avoid Barons Cambridge
1. They need money upfront, I have been driving for the last 15 years and never paid upfront for car repair. They asked me to pay almost £3000 upfront (which I have transferred within a minute, as I wanted to get it done ASAP.
2. They don’t have any parts there and they have to order from Germany. So you have to wait.
3. They don’t give you courtesy car and will have too many excuses. Even local high-street garage will have a courtesy car.
4. Their quality is too low, my car was about to catch the fire because they told me to ignore the low engine oil warning as the light is faulty and just need to reset.
5. The service team is cheap, so cheap.!! They never pick the phone so you have to call the sales team (which will pick the phone in 3 seconds) and ask to connect to someone in the service. And if you are lucky and and they attend the phone, you cannot hear well and what all you can hear is giggling and chuckling at the background'.
6. I have transferred almost £3000 upfront on 05 May 2021 and have collected the car on 10 May 2021 and the cost came around £1400 (so please speak to your local garages in case if Barons Cambridge give you any big invoice, this saved me, like no pump was needed). I have sent numerous emails and they said I will receive my money back soon. However, I haven’t received a single penny back yet (it’s 16 May 2021). If you can’t refund the money, why you are taking money upfront ?
7. Poor professionalism, I have called them, spoke in person and sent email for part exchange, no response.
8. Their quality is poor. After doing all the work they said they are not sure it will leak again or not. They will need to check after 1000 miles. When I checked the invoice, even if it leaks it will need a gasket and other parts around just £75, but their labour is almost £500. Why they can’t just change this when they opened up everything previously rather than starting all over again after 1000 miles, risking mine and family’s life again and adding all these extra labour ?
Long story short AVOID
Complain
We will, however, no longer be comfortable in continuing as your service provider, and will now ask that you use another BMW retailer in the future.
Will never deal with Barons again
Will never deal with Barons again.
Customer Service is awful.
I have had problems with my BMW and have asked for a price of repair.
Spoke to service department and they told me they would call me back with a price. Five days later. No call .
This is the third time this has happened to me. Even spoke to the general manager.
They obviously don't want my custom.
Not good for a BMW mIn agent
BMW X5 - poorly handled recall
BMW X5 was recalled for a transmission issue. Booking process was easy and drop-off / collection covid secure - all done on a Friday. However, I expected the work to be completed in a day. After having the car all day I got a call around 4pm to say that the car DID have the fault and they would now order parts - car would be read the following Monday. Why do car dealers make things easy for themselves (like not ordering parts in advance) and ignore the inconvenience on customers. Won't be going back.
Excellent customer service.
Made an enquiry to purchase a BMW and dealt with James D'Arcy. James was professional, communicative and helpful. I would highly recommned him to anyone considering purchasing a premium brand car.
Service was okay except for two points:
Service was okay except for two points:
1) they sprayed antibacterial cleaner over the cockpit screen which I cannot clean without leaving smear marks
2) my ca went in with a warning of ‘Full power available shortly’ and still came out with the warning

I requested a quotation to purchase a new Mini car several weeks ago and am still waiting for it. After the news that Mini were making 400 redundancies you would imagine they would be biting at the bit to offer a top service to potential new customers but no, not Barons Mini.
It is fair to say that a lack of interest in providing me with a quotation is a very good indicator of the service I would experience had I made the mistake of purchasing a Mini.
BMW built to last the length of the warranty period plus a little
I have 2 very serious issues...
1. That BMW do not make cars to last much longer than the Warranty period - Design flaw with N47 engine - CAM/Timing chain (lifetime item) non-maintenance item breaks causing catastrophic failure and severe damage to the engine.
2. That Baron's (My go-to garage) with a wealth of knowledge of BMW history and common problems, did not at any time make me aware of what appears to be a fundamental design fault with the N47 engine timing chain kit (Chain, guides and sprockets).
As confirmed by Baron's Service dept' the chain is made for the lifetime of the car and not a maintenance part.
So, having been a loyal customer of Baron's for almost 5 yrs, always taking may car back to Baron's for all required work. Knowingly paying a premium for a supposedly premium service; I would have expected them to be looking after me as their customer. Informing me of how best to look after my car and of any potential issues that I may experience. Never did they recommend a timing chain replacement. It would have cost ~£2k, but it would have saved my engine, which they have intimated would cost in excess of £10k to replace. And that's after they expect me to pay £1k for them to take the rocker cover and sump off to help diagnose the problem. Which still would not explain the full extent of the damage to valves and Pistons.
So, a warning to anyone thinking of buying a 2nd hand BMW.... think again!
There's no doubt the BMW is a nice car, but the engine design raises a lot of questions as does the service and support on older cars (5yr+). The timing chain not being a maintenance item requires an engine out over-haul. Poor design, poor longevity, poor support for a loyal customer, expensive to maintain generally and even more so due to the design flaw.
It's amazing how many people have said this is a known failing of BMW and the N47 engine. Just google it you'll be surprised.
This has been the worse car investment I have ever made.
Fantastic representation of a premium brand
I Have been a customer of this dealership for the past six years and have just taken delivery of my third BMW from them, which speaks volumes to Just how good this dealership is.
Adam Bonnett the sales executive who processed the order for my new car is clearly passionate about the Brand, very knowledgeable and an all round top guy. He made the buying and ordering process seamless with no pushy sales tactics, just honest straight up advice to what me as a customer, would benefit from with my new car. Adam kept me updated with how the production of the car was coming along to then calling me to tell me my car had arrived four weeks earlier then expected to my joy!
If you are looking to purchase a new car or even just have a friendly chat about BMW’s without any pressure I highly recommend you ask for Adam when visiting or calling up this dealership.
All told, this dealership is serious value for the deals they can secure coupled with the fantastic friendly customer service. An exceptional representation of the BMW brand.
A somewhat disappointing service experience, not in keeping with previous dealings
Having used Barons and Elms before them for sixteen years or so, I have always received good service. On this occasion I was booking my 435D in for a major service and was quoted £380 to include service, vehicle health check and valet as described by Barons Booking Centre, which is remote from the Camborne branch. On the day of the service I was informed that an additional check was needed to the work to be carried out on my vehicle which would incur an additional cost of £84, a 20% increase on the cost of the service. I was assured that this was due to an oversight on the part of the person at the booking centre, despite them having access to all the details of my vehicle and its current mileage. I was informed that failure to authorise this additional work and its associated cost would result in Barons being unable to clear the service advisory message from my dashboard so I agreed to have the work carried out. No apology was offered in this respect. In hindsight, I feel I should have pushed back on this issue as Barons should have honoured their original quote which was made with their full knowledge of my vehicle details. In future I intend to shop around for service rather then go direct to Barons as in previous years.
A full 5 stars is well deserved
I have given Barons BMW of Cambourne a full 5 stars and would give them more if I could.
They have my complete confidence and without exception, everyone is well-mannered and very obliging. They are everything other dealerships should be.
I bought a new BMW in 2018 after toying with buying a Mercedes-Benz, but the useless snobby staff at the local Merc dealers in Cambridge made me gravitate towards BMW and I am so glad I did. Barons BMW richly deserve their five stars, where I wouldn't pay the snotty-nosed Merc staff in washers! By complete contrast, Barons treat their customers with dignity and respect.
The BMW product is excellent, and the sales staff go well beyond the call of duty to ensure the car is right for the customer. The service staff are both punctillious and efficient, and in my experience, whether a purchase or after a service, the car is ready precisely when they say it will be. Needless to say, my next car will be another BMW.

Very disappointed Service with Barons BMW Cambourne
I'm very disappointed with my car's service at Barons BMW Cambourne. Service representative Hayley Blackwell was very rude and never did the right thing as promised. Don't ever do the Service and MOT with Barons BMW Cambourne if your car is more than 5 years old. They will rip you off.
Hayley Blackwell was very very poor at her Service to the Customers. She initially told me Service and MOT will take around 3 Hours and not more than that. But it ended up almost like 5.5 hours. After the 3 hours of waiting, I spoke to her 2 to 3 times to check the status and every time she said this will take another half an hour. That was so annoying.
The MOT guys working for Barons BMW Cambourne will do all sorts of things to fail the MOT and get your money.
I will never use them again for the Service.
Please read the reviews about Baron BMW Service center Cambourne before taking your car for the Service.
Iv tried to book my BMW in with Barons…
Iv tried to book my BMW in with Barons for a service and have called them over 10 time and have now give up with them as they are with out doubt a shocking service as they don't ever answer there phone. Iv never had such a bad experience with BMW in my life this will be the last BMW i will own just on the bases that i can get the car services.
If I could give a minus rating I would
If I could give a minus rating I would,
Had my car in for a recall a few weeks back, since this occasion my tyre pressure was checked and the tyre pressure has been increased to nearly
Double the psi that it should be,
Having checked my tyre pressure a few months before and regularly beforehand then suddenly after being booked in for a service the tyre pressure was increased I narrowed this down to the only time possible it would have been increased, at this garage.
I rang trying to speak to someone and was told I’d get a call back, after nearly a week I rang BMW head office who in all honesty were amazing they got me in touch with ‘Gareth’ , after I assume BMW explaining what had happened to Gareth, he picked up the phone to me straight away with a rude manner.
He then proceeded to accuse me of lying, and tell me it was done before this occasion, why in hell I would increase my tyre pressure to nearly double when I’m driving round with a baby in the car is beyond me!!!
He wouldn’t even let me get a word in, making me out to be thick saying the weather could affect the tyre pressure and he could say for sure the tyres were not increased even though he wasnt the one who carried out the work neither was any cctv in the garage, and then after me explaining this could not be the case due to the fact they’ve nearly doubled in size so it couldn’t be their weather! And they have also been reset on the tyre pressure warning on my car meaning this was intentional, he went on to say they were done either after or before the car was brought in,
I explained several times this could NOT be the case but he went on to talk over me, complete disregard for what I had to say and was completely rude,
Clearly this man thinks as I am a woman I am not capable of understanding the difference between tyre pressure in weather and a malicious act and thinks it okay to talk over me and even though there aren’t any camera’s in the garage can safely say I’m a liar
Will be taking this up further and putting an official complaint about this garage and this sexist rude man.
Will never be returning to this garage, was looking to purchase a new BMW in the coming year and was hoping to book a test drive over the next few weeks, but hey ho I’m sure a non-sexist BMW garage can help me with this.
All the best and I hope some changes come in place before another woman has to take her car in and has issues.

Megan
