We are an independent group who have been caring for eyes for over 68 years. Established in 1957 by Frank Barraclough in St. Leonards and later joined by Peter Stiles, we gained a reputation founded on expertise combined with a kind and helpful manner.
Investing in the latest technology and equipment such as OCT imaging and Optomap® retinal scanning and keeping the practices modern and up to date has all helped in passing the 65 year milestone.
However, a significant contribution has been made by the people working in the company and a large proportion of our staff have been with us for many years enabling them to build excellent relationships with our clients. We're proud of the solid reputation we have built up over the years and will continue to deliver the very best possible service when it comes to eye care and customer care.

Dr Javadnia always impresses me, but everyone else was wonderful too (Amanda, Ginnie and Isabella.The staff is the main reason I prefer to use Barraclough rather than the other opticians in the High Street.

Successful Visit
I was seen on time. I didn't feel rushed during the examination. My glasses were checked, tightened & cleaned & I was even supplied with a new case, as I had accidently stepped on mine recently.

Barracloughs Battle
Not only was a health condition picked up and a referral made but I received amazing customer service from Emma Bond who was incredibly patient with me and spent a considerable amount of time helping me with frames, lenses and tint options. I really appreciated the valuable experience that she clearly has.

Barracloughs - Eastbourne Branch
Trevor dealt with my eye sight test, he was extremely through , knowable and explained everything. Sam dealt with suggestions regarding style and type of lenses. He also dealt with a warranty claim on my previous varifocals whilst I was in the branch. Both members of staff provided an excellent service which is why I have remained a loyal customer to this branch. I would highly recommend this branch of Barracloughs.
