Paul O’Callaghan
Initially, after going it alone and starting an early conciliation claim with ACAS and a subsequent discrimination claim with the employment tribunal (as a litigant in person), it wasn’t long before I realised I was in over my head. Paul O’Callaghan’s advice and his expertise in detailed employment law helped turn my case around. Whilst I was already aware that the Respondent was a large multinational company with a strong foothold in the UK. It wasn’t until after Paul had negotiated a satisfactory settlement, that I discovered quite how big a company the respondent’s lawyers were. Anybody that takes on a global law firm of that size, requires not only the legal and technical skills to succeed but also have unwavering courage and strength of character. Paul O’Callaghan has all of that. In the end, it was his negotiating skills and conciliatory approach that saved the day. I would not hesitate in recommending him to others for complex employment and discrimination cases.

I gave clerksroom direct (now barrister connect) over £8,000 upfront, £4,500 to defend me in magistrate court and a further £3,546 to conduct a juditial review, In court the barrister told me to plead guilty stating it was a hostile bench, so a large fine a criminal record and no judial review, clerksroom direct asked for more money to take the planning inspectorate to court ,clerksroom direct have not replied to my request for a refund or returned some of the original paperwork i sent them . I would urge any one to read their one star reviews before giving them original papers or money upfront which you will need if you go elswhere. I suspect the barrister only got a fraction of the money i paid to clerksroom direct, the case is ongoing.

Stassi was amazing
Stassi was amazing, she was very quick to pair me with a barrister and also quickly found an extra choice for me. It was such a relief to deal with Barristerconnect when I was struggling with direct access.

Employment Barrister
After receiving an opinion from Irwin Mitchell under my insurance policy, they disregarded all of my claims and did not look at any of the evidence properly. They delayed the process at every turn and allocated me to a junior solicitor with 3 months PQE whose opinion was poorly drafted and did not interpret the law correctly. I wanted to get a second opinion as I knew my claims enjoyed good prospects of success - IM were completely unreliable.
I approached Barrister Connect about my complex employment matter and they paired me with
Paul O'Callaghan. Paul was brilliant. Firstly his grasp of the facts and ability to distil a very complicated situation into a clear, strategic plan was exceptional. He looked at everything I provided, and absolutely nothing was missed.
Paul was direct, analytical, and pragmatic throughout — cutting through unnecessary noise and identifying the strongest legal points with precision. His written advice was comprehensive yet easy to follow, with practical next steps tailored to my circumstances. He also showed genuine empathy and professionalism in how he handled a very sensitive situation, which made an enormous difference to my confidence moving forward. He was able to have a call with me discuss the matter days after instruction, with a written advice promised within a week (though this was actually given to me in 24 hours which was most appreciated!) After providing me with the advice we had a further call to discuss. The approach by Paul is very collaborative. This is a very different experience to a solicitor who will be more 'check box' and cold in their approach.
If you’re dealing with a serious employment issue and want someone who combines technical excellence with sound judgment and integrity, I can’t recommend Paul highly enough. Paul kindly offered advice on the tribunal process in addition to advising me on my claims. I must also point out that Paul also acts predominantly for claimants (75%). For anyone who has any serious employment issue, please take my advice and seek the opinion of a barrister - they are the ones who actually attend court. Most employment solicitors never see an employment tribunal.

Barrister
Was assigned Nick Wright, a highly experienced Barrister both hard working, responsive, practical, thoughtful and personable. The use of Barristerconnect vs using a Solicitor from my analyse saves both time and money if you're able to do some of the work yourself. Nick is supportive and extremely experienced in his area so highly efficient.

Exceptional Support and Expertise from Nick Wright at Barrister Connect
I reached out to Barrister Connect for support with a small claims matter and was assigned Nick Wright. From the start, Nick carefully reviewed my situation and provided clear, practical recommendations that differed from what I’d previously been advised. Although I was initially unsure, his confidence and attention to detail quickly put me at ease.
The day before the hearing, Nick guided me on how to best prepare, and on the day itself, he helped position the case effectively. Thanks to his expertise and persistence, the outcome was far better than I expected. I’m very grateful for his support and highly recommend him and the Barrister Connect team.

Recommended Barristers Direct
Dear Andrew,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude and provide a glowing review of the exceptional legal services you provided during our recent dilapidation claim.
As you know, this claim arose after we purchased a property where the previous tenant had failed to comply with their contractual obligations to restore the building to its original good repair. With the defendants being notably slow to respond at every turn, the entire matter stretched over an arduous 24 months. Despite these challenges, your expertise and dedication stood out impressively.
Your superb handling of the case was nothing short of remarkable. Your strategic approach, clear communication, and unwavering commitment were instrumental in navigating the complexities of this long-drawn process. Your professionalism and tenacity ensured that our interests were thoroughly protected and advocated for at every stage.
In light of this experience, I cannot recommend a better legal representative than yourself. Your outstanding service has left an indelible mark, and I am truly grateful for your support and diligence throughout this challenging period.
Thank you once again, Andrew, for your exemplary work and dedication.
Warm regards,
Carol Sullivan

Very poor service
It seems as if I am not the only person to have a terrible experience with Barristers Connect and Nick Wright. It is almost an identical situation to V.B. below. I paid £300 for an hour and only received 30 mins, partly because the barrister was so objectionable that I didn't really want to talk to him any more. In any case, he made me feel like he was in a hurry and came across as impatient and arrogant.
Just like V.B. below he told me he was on holiday the next week so he wasn't actually going to be available to appear in court if necessary.
I did complain but, it feels a bit of a stitch up because the reviewer decided that the services were reasonable!
Now that I have seen another very similar complaint, I will be complaining to the Ombudsman.

Do not use Barrister Connect if you are…
Do not use Barrister Connect if you are in need of legal advice.
I needed a couple of questions answered and found Barrister Connect online a company based in Taunton that offers legal advice paid for by the hour.
I paid £360 for an hour of advice with a barrister regarding a tenancy issue.
The first barrister they assigned- Majed Walker did not get back too me.
I was appointed another barrister Nick Wright who was less helpful in the sense that he was very and dismissive on the phone and told me nothing in the fifteen minutes that I didn’t know already, He sounded like he was in a hurry and said I should email him if I had any more questions. I had paid him
for an hour.
He suggested after fifteen minutes that I email him with any queries. I called him the next day and he was equally as abrupt telling my he 'was on holiday' that was a lie because he already told me he was too busy to attend a mediation with me that week as he was in court on that day.
I have never felt so disappointed and annoyed with a professional before. I desperately needed some questions answered and on both occasions was fobbed off by Nick Wright.
When I requested a refund of my payment of £360 from Barristers Connect they refused and were equally as dismissive,
All I can say is do not use Barristers Connect if you do not want to loose your money.
Stephanie Heijdra was brilliant
Stephanie Heijdra was brilliant, prompt and excellent service with short notice. Stephanie has represented my daughter on two separate occasions and we will definitely be using her services again. Highly recommend
Simone Bowman was very thorough with…
Simone Bowman was very thorough with details in the pre-hearing call, and during the hearing she flagged up matters which were vital (which I would not have been sharp-minded enough to see myself). I was grateful for her attentiveness, which saved the day in many ways, plus her ability to adapt during the hearing to each new situation with skill and support. Thank you so much.
A Barrister Who Fights for You, With Heart and Integrity
I was drowning in a legal battle I didn’t understand, desperate for help but unsure where to turn. Then I found Clerksroom Direct Barristers and within no time, they connected me with Nadeem Aslem. The process was so straightforward, and little did I know, they’d introduced me to the person who’d change that.
Nadeem wasn’t just another Barrister. He was brilliant in court (calm, razor-sharp, and persuasive), but what truly stood out was his kindness. He listened when I felt invisible, explained things in a way that finally made sense, and fought for me like I was family. His integrity and warmth made all the difference during one of the hardest times of my life.
I’ll always be grateful to Clerksroom Direct Barristers making it so easy to find him and to Nadeem, for being the advocate I needed. If I ever have to step back into the legal world, I wouldn’t hesitate to go through them again.
Stephanie was exceptional!
Stephanie was great from the very beginning we met outside court. She made me feel at ease and confident before going into the courtroom. Definitely recommend!

Outcome in 30 minutes… Amazing barrister Stephanie Heijdra
Stephanie Heijdra provided representation for me during a dispute with my ex about child relocation. Although she was brought in late during the case, she managed to get me the outcome I wanted within 30 minutes (much better than I envisioned the hearing would go). She was calm, articulate and really knew all the relevant law on child relocation. I am extremely grateful to her for the successful outcome of my hearing and would highly recommend her services to anyone seeking an exceptional barrister. Thank you Stephanie.

I engaged Balalh Khan for my Family Court matter, and I couldn’t be happier with the representation I received. From our very first call, I felt genuinely heard and supported. Balalh demonstrated a deep understanding of family law and approached my case with thoughtfulness and care, tailoring his approach to my case with care.
He was not only highly professional and articulate in court but also compassionate and reassuring throughout what was a very emotionally challenging time. Thanks to his expertise, we achieved a fair and favourable outcome.
I highly recommend Balalh Khan to anyone seeking skilled and empathetic representation in family law matters.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Barrister Nadeem is an exceptional legal advocate in the field of disability rights and medical negligence. His deep understanding of complex healthcare law, combined with his unwavering commitment to justice for vulnerable individuals, makes him a rare and invaluable ally in any legal journey.
From the moment we engaged with him, Nadeem demonstrated outstanding professionalism, clarity, and empathy. He took time to listen truly listen to the emotional, medical, and legal challenges our family faced, and responded with thoughtful, strategic guidance at every step. His attention to detail and ability to translate highly complex matters into clear, actionable advice was deeply reassuring.
