Unrealiable

I booked a room via the Booking platform and realised two hours later that the location was not the same as another hotel with the same name. I immediately contacted the hotel to request a cancellation, but they refused and asked for a cancellation fee of €198.

What is most surprising is that the stay was scheduled for more than four weeks later. I then contacted Booking.com for assistance. They reached out to the property and requested a free cancellation on my behalf, but the hotel declined this request as well.

It's policy, it's your loss

The first time was fine. The second time in a different Bastion hotel the entire headboard for the two beds was litterally falling off the wall. Fortunately they had another room for me.
The third time I had reserved and paid in advance but when I arrived, there was no room for me. I didn't get a sorry nor did they make an effort to make up for the loss.
The fourth time my work location was rescheduled after making the reservation and paying for it. They refused to transfer the reservation to the Bastion at the location near my new scheduled work location, stating "it's policy, it's your loss".
Abysmal treatment of customers.

Comfortable, Modern Stay Near the Airport with Friendly Service

I had a pleasant stay at Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Airport. While the location is a bit farther from central Amsterdam than I expected, it works well if you need to be close to the airport.

The hotel itself is very clean and modern. My room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom and shower were in great condition. Everything felt well maintained.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, which made the experience even better. Breakfast was also nice, with a good selection to start the day.

Overall, despite the slightly distant location, it’s a comfortable and well-kept hotel that I would recommend, especially for travelers flying in or out of Amsterdam Airport.

Very poor experience – will never return

We arrived at Bastion Hotel in Waalre and were given a room. When we entered the room, we were shocked to find insects crawling on the walls, ceiling, and floor. It was extremely unpleasant. We immediately recorded a video and showed it to the receptionist.

We were then offered another room, but unfortunately this was not any better. The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, which was deeply embedded in the room and made it very uncomfortable to stay in. In addition, the room was far from clean — there was dust on the floor, and under the bed there was a large amount of hair. The 3 room was no difference with the cleaning.

After this experience, we had no desire to stay at the hotel. The stay was far below our expectations and not acceptable for a hotel. We will definitely never return and cannot recommend this place.

Beware of RATS!

Title: Beware of RATS!

I strongly advise against staying at Bastion Hotel. My experience was absolutely terrible:

Cheese served was not fresh, showing a complete lack of hygiene.

I even saw a rat, which is unacceptable in any hotel.

The mattress was stained and dirty, impossible to sleep comfortably.

Hallways and the room were filthy and clearly not cleaned.

This stay left me with a very bad impression. I will not give up and I am pursuing my case with consumer protection authorities to obtain justice.

A nice stay, to be recoomended

Nice spacious room, clean, comfortable bed, luxurious breakfast, hospitable service. And all this for a good price (a voucher bought at the online PZC newspaper webshop)

Messy in the corridors

Messy in the corridors. Trolleys with towels and cleaning stuff all around. Although on the 5th floor.
Shower in room real drama. Water leaking everywhere except from the head of the shower.

Ok hotel

Ok hotel, nice staff. Always a hasle about the invoices. Paid in advance and made some reservations that i will pay on arrival. This time again receptionist who want to do the best but the new computerprogram doesn't help her. So asks me that i have to pay a bill that is already paid. So tired of this.

The room is as in first instance ok and…

The room is as in first instance ok and spacious. The receipt at the hotel was good and also in the morning employees were very friendly. The minus points were that there was no light in the bath room (no ceiling light and the light above the mirror not functioning). For watching television, the remote control was hardly working and batteries were stuck either duck tape.

The heating in the room is…

The heating in the room is insufficient. It took almost a day to get the room on temperature. They said because the old building was fully booked the system could not cope with it, That should not be my problem paying a big price per night. And in the bathroom there is no heating at all! That is unacceptable.

Inexperienced staff, poor service

Modern clean rooms. I could not fault the housekeeping of my room. Each day it was spotless and immaculate.

Breakfast was average for continental. Staff always seem disorganised and trying their best to be friendly. Sadly bacon and scrambled eggs were cold, at 6am daily. Reasonable choice otherwise but room for improvement.

I didnt eat in the restaurant in the evenings. I couldn't comment on the evening menu.

Biggest most notable issue is the staff. Inexperienced, untrained, lack of customer care. Alarmingly not alert and ignore customers. I waited to check in while the receptionist ignored me and checked in 3 gentlemen behind me. When I made a soft joke about it, the receptionist shrugged her shoulders, no emotion, explanation, apology or human interaction. Needs a reminder she works in hospitality.

The bar, big sigh!! A number of staff need a big prompt to serve customers, its concerning than during quiet periods the staff don't pay attention. On one occasion I made a hand numerical hand signal and pointed to the beers I wanted to order. The bar maid looked blank and wandered off to serve someone else. I waited another five minutes, she had her back to me, being the obly person at the bar. I tried twice to catch her eye. She wandered off to the kitchen. The staff need louder vocal prompts to capture their attention. Its frustrating and poor.

On finally catching her attention she seemed bemused she spoke with me earlier; couldn't remember 5 minutes earlier.

Other customers were left waiting unattended, bar staff back to clients, oblivious. Rarely turning around. Bad for custome and business.

In a hospitality its a big NO NO to ignore customers or not check on who wants served. Lack of concern or wish to improve.

Other than the upkeep of the rooms the staff need to refocus on a client driven culture. Try harder!!

Overpriced and lots of lost time

Overpriced, especially considering its location. But, the biggest problem for me was being charged twice by the hotel, and then taking 4+ months to get a refund, even after raising this during the stay, and after numerous, numerous calls and emails. So much time lost.

Confirmed booking cancelled

My confirmed booking was simply cancelled by the hotel due to allegedly missing credit card details.
However, at that time the full amount was already being charged from my account. There was no problem at all with my card.
The real reason: during the 4-day march in Nijmegen hotel prices skyrocket and I booked before the prices went up. After cancelling my reservation Bastion can now sell the room at a price four times higher than the rate at which I booked. And hotel staff at the hotline say they will investigate my claim but never reply afterwards.

This is a scam. If you want to make sure you really have a reservation at the time your travel, avoid Bastion.

We were booked into Bastion Hotel…

We were booked into Bastion Hotel Barendrecht arrived early for one night, at reception we were told that our room wasn’t ready happy to wait

Then a few minutes later the house manger told us that there was a problem with our room, no other availability for that night, she told us that there was a room for us at the sister hotel Bastion Hotel Dordrecht Papendrecht

She rang the hotel to confirm we would take the room, we had an upgrade too, she also had our two main meals paid for, as it was an inconvenience

This was a wonderful gesture from Naomi, she deserves recognition for sorting out the problem

We’d recommend the Bastion Hotel Group if your in the Netherlands

Thank you again NAOMI

Hotel

At our check-out day, the Hotel has double charged us (230EUR). After long conversations with the staff, it took almost 1 week to get the payment back in our bank account and therefore we had limited money to continue our vacation.

Although we wanted to check out at 9:30, we ended up leaving the hotel at 11:30. In the meantime, we also received a parking fine because the parking ticket was 10 minutes overdue.

Although the hotel has taken responsibility for their mistake by email and wanted to document proof of the parking company, they have not responded to our inquiries.

We ask hotel/headquater to get in touch with a senior manager, but no one sends us further in the organization. The inquiries are not answered.

I would not recommend Bastion Hotel Noord to any guests. The rooms are dirty, no elevator and not baby friendly. The staff is not friendly and does not show understanding of the guests' needs.

The food in the hotel is overpriced.

We will never visit Bastion Hotel again.
