My go-to supplier for quality ingredients
I’ve worked with John Bayhouse Aromatics for many years and continue to choose them because of their reliability, quality, and professionalism. The products are consistently high grade, well sourced, and packaged with care so they arrive safely every time.
Customer service is excellent knowledgeable, responsive, and personal. If I ever need advice or clarification, John is always happy to help and clearly knows his products inside out. Deliveries are prompt, and communication is clear.
For anyone serious about using high-quality ingredients and working with a supplier who genuinely understands their products and customers, I would confidently recommend John Bayhouse Aromatics.
Good service
Good service so far the ingredients are packaged well will purchase from them again.
Complete lack of ownership - Awful service AVOID!
I have been a customer of Bayhouse for 18 years, and the oils have always been of a good standard.
I received my order a few months ago and over the course of a couple weeks, the labels on every single bottle slid off, like no adhesive was used on the back of the labels.
I cannot use any of these oils as I can not be 100% what they are and entirely unsafe and unsuable. I have kept the bottles in the same wooden box that I keep my other oils. My other oils (by another brand) are absolutely fine and the older Bayhouse oils are also fine.
After second email follow up from Bayhouse:
'We did answer the question. This is a local incident, and something has happened within your storage box, We have never experienced this before
so something has spilled over the bottles to cause this, or the contents have been exposed to extreme heat but we will go with the former.
My response
So you're telling me it is my wooden box that's the problem, which is designed for essential oils? I have been buying oils from you for 18 years and I have kept them in wooden boxes ever since I qualified.
Can you please replace these oils? As I said, I have never experienced this before, and the Purple Flame bottles that I have been in the same wooden case and they are absolutely fine.
Last response:
Our technical manager examined the images and is satisfied that something either spilled over the bottles or the contents were compromised.
The labels clearly have Oil on them, so contents of one or more bottles have caused this. They would not peel off otherwise so it is not the fault of Bay House.
I wish I could add the photo I sent as it shows clearly that the oils were not saturated with oil. In fact the other bottles in the same box are saturated, yet the labels are still entirely intact.
Complete lack of ownership. I am actually really upset, I have stuck with Bayhouse since I first qualified. I will NEVER use them again.
My first order and was very…
My first order and was very impressed.everything went smoothly products are lush too.
Very happy thanks
Bizarre hostile attitude towards customers
An unnecessarily stressful transaction. I bought 3 aromastones: 1 for myself, and 2 more as gifts. However, when mine didn't diffuse essential oils as well as I'd hoped, I contacted Bay House to return the 2 unused ones. Instead of a 'Sorry to hear that, and sure, here's how to return them' - I got a defensive: "QC have opened a random box from same batch delivery, and it works fine within its remit. We have already sold over 355 of these same units without any issue". No return instructions included. The email was also anonymous, signed "Sales Team', which I hate as it feels like you're dealing with a computer. When I replied asking if I could please know who I was dealing with, I got another brusque reply. I found this really unsettling, and immediately got worried that it was going to be a battle to return the unwanted aromastones and get a refund. [Spoiler alert - I was right!] In my next email on 25th Feb I referred to my consumer rights, and asked for return info. No reply until 3rd March, and again no return info. So I had to chase them AGAIN. In the end, I was obliged to use my own initiative and return the 2 aromstones to the address on their email signature. I also emailed them the tracking info. Royal Mail delivered them on 14 March, but it wasn't until yesterday 25 March - ONE MONTH after placing my order - that I finally got a refund. Even then they didn't get the calculation right, and I'm left 89p short. But I'm so fed up with having to do all the legwork, that I can't be bothered to challenge it. I'm just relieved to never have to deal with this company again. It's been really stressful, not knowing if they would refund me or not, and I don't know if they realise how their unfriendly, withholding communication affects customers. Their awful customer service stands in stark contrast to the prompt and helpful customer service I receive as standard these days from other companies. My advice is: avoid.
Organic essential oils are bland
The organic essential oils had a very weak and flat scent. Not high enough quality compared to other organic oils bought elsewhere. The body and face oils were sold in unsealed plastic bottles which I am not used to with other supplies who use glass for oils. Wouldn't purchase from again.
I don't understand how anyone can give…
I don't understand how anyone can give these guys 1 star unless it is a personal attack. The products are great value and great quality. The packaging it solid and no nonsense. I just generally like the vibe of their ethos.
No expiry dates/BBE dates on Ingredients so may have received old stock!
None of the products I received has expiry dates or Best Before Dates on them! This is shocking for a Cosmetic ingredient supplier as products I received may have already passed the best before dates in their warehouse & as a customer I would be none the wiser for it!
I noticed one of the emulsifiers Vegetal that I bought from this supplier looked past it’s best but without any dates they can continue selling at a premium these ingredients! They have a symbol on most ingredients packaging stating After Opening use for 6 months/12 months but this is utterly useless as these ingredients may have been stored in their warehouse for years & already expired whether the customer opens the package or not, the best before dates of these ingredients will depend largely on how long the supplier has had this stored in the warehouse!
It is very convenient for them to sell ingredients without any expiry dates or BBE dates as basically they can sell old stock or long expired stock without any questions from customers! Therefore not sure of the quality of ingredients.
I usually buy from suppliers like Aromantics & Naturally Thinking who always have expiry dates or Best Before dates listed on their ingredients! It is as it should be.
An emulsifier that has passed its best will not work well unfortunately & who knows how long these ingredients have been in their warehouse/store before I purchased it
Bay House Aromantics may say it is not required for them to list expiry dates or BBE dates but as a customer I want to know & I am not happy for any supplier to pass on to me old stock of ingredients which may have already expired yet I would never know. There are other suppliers in UK Aromantics or Naturally Thinking who list expiry dates /BBE dates on all ingredients & are cheaper than Bay House Aromatics so they will be where I shop from now on!
Happy long term customer
I have been ordering my oils from Bayhouse for a long time, not big amounts and with longer gaps inbetween, because I am only a part time mobile therapist, but I have always been very happy with the quality of the products and the orders have always arrived in good time. I was very shocked to see such bad reviews. My experience has always been one of quick response when I had questions and great quality products.
Quick call back
Quick call back. The knowledge is good, but sensitive types may recoil, due to a no nonsense speaking style, that may come across as a little irritated. The impression is however that this has been worked on. The oils have always impressed, on balance due to comparisons with similarly priced products that do not compare.
Excellent oils & service
Very Happy with my experience! Although I was concerned after reading bad reviews, but the selection of organic carrier oils was so good I wanted to try Bay House out, so I decided to email prior to point out my concerns before ordering. I am VERY PLEASED I did, the communications were prompt, the delivery was fast & the oils are high quality. I am happy to have found Bay House Aromantics & we will continue to use them for our business requirements, Thanks I recommend
Excellent
Great customer service, fast delivery, good products - will use again.
AVOID!! Never got my order
Never got my order. Sent a tracking link that did not work. Chased them, was told they would resend..nothing. Now no response to emails. Been over a month now. Flagged it as a fraudulent transaction with my bank and about to report to trading standards
Not worth my time
It was my first time purchasing from this company spending quite a fair amount with them. It will be the first and last time buying from this company. It was a Very condescending & patronising experience which left me riled up. Never again will I give them my business and if you don’t want your energy ruined. I’d advise against this company
Very good quality products !
Ordered several times from them, even during these COV-times they do the best to deliver, very good quality products as well a wide range of ingredients.
Good range of specialised products at very good prices but service slow and not satisfactory
When I read the reviews here I was sceptical ordering with them.
However they have good products and their prices are very good, plus they supply products that not many have. Their website is detailed and good to navigate.
However their customer service leaves a lot to be desired, they take forever to dispatch and deliver, you need a lot of patience! Also along with their sister company (soapmakers) there is a minimum purchase which is steep.
Very disappointing service and unpleasant experience
Very disappointing service and unpleasant experience. Had ordered a range of products including a number of hydrolats/hydrosols, which had a disgusting rancid smell. The essential oils were ok, but the hydrolats/hydrosols had obviously gone bad. After informing them about wanting to return most of the products that we hadn’t opened (the few I had opened were enough of a quality check) since we weren’t happy with the products overall, particularly the gone bad hydrolats/hydrosols, they insinuated that I would be one of a "small number of customers" apparently not knowing what a hydrolat is. I found their response quite patronizing and rude! I have been working with oils and hydrolats/hydrosols and know very well what these products are and how they should smell. In fact, if they knew what they are doing they would know that adding a bit of Vitamin E prevents these kinds of products from going rancid. In my view, any respectable company would take responsibility for their faulty products and offer a refund for those. Of course I was going to keep and pay for the oils that had been opened. Expectedly, I had to ship everything back at my own expense and pay for the rancid hydrolats/hydrosols as well. I shipped everything back immediately and tracking showed that it had arrived the next day. I then waited and emailed them after a week, as they had not bothered to notify me at all. Got a very clinical response that it will be processed soon. Didn’t hear for another week, wrote them again. No response this time. Called them the week after, was told that it will be dealt with that day and again did not hear again. I had to raise a dispute with PayPal in the end to finally get my money back, which took exactly three weeks once they had received my return. I will definitely not order with this company again and would recommend others to look elsewhere.
Absolutely top notch customer service
Absolutely top notch customer service, thanks
Best customer service and products on the market
Had the best customer service, I don't really understand the comments below.
There were no issues and I received my parcel within 7 working days. So very impressed with service.
They also have the best ingredients on the market specially if you are looking for organic and natural products.
Would highly recommend.
