I cannot fault the lessons or the teachers, both are excellent but the entire company is poorly managed. We have been using them since 2019 and the customer service has just gotten worse every year.... See more

Don’t bother

We attended swim at tong, do not bother. Went for 4 months with poor teacher who did nothing but took my daughter back in confidence. Then finally moved teachers, great, moved to second group but no space. Still took money out even though there wasn’t a lesson for her to attend. Went on waiting list for almost 2 months to be sent and email to say sign up to class starting today. Signed up to get her back in the water. Turned up to lesson cancelled and no warning. Do not use this swimming lessons.

Went along to a taster session at crewe

Went along to a taster session for my 4yr old who cant swim and is not confident in water, took a lot of encouragement to get him to try a swim class, the guy doing it was apparently in charge of the whole thing but was just covering for the women teacher katie who was on holiday.

Upon arrival the staff at bannatynes directed us where to go, she said we could stand poolside and there was some things to pop over our shoes,

Once at the pool no one introduced themselves. We didnt know where to go so some other parents pointed where to go.

He didnt ask us anything about our son or if he needs help with floats etc or even ask his name, He just said he is covering for the normal teacher. My husband had to tell him he cant swim and hes nervous.

We then said we will be stood poolside over here and he aggressivly said no your not, my husband responded yes we are the reception said we could and parents normally do and we arent going to leave our 4yr old alone his first time as hes nervous and with no reassurance from this man who didnt even ask his name, and he again said no your not agressivily, this guy was very tall and muscly and bald so quite intimdating in front of my 4yr old, We stayed a minute then decided to go to veiwing area. As we got there my son was crying his eyes out so i rushed to get him. Not a word from this man he didnt even notice or say anything, his tone was aggresive and then he expected to take our nervous son away without even speaking to him or asking his name. Safe to say we wont be going back. Its a shame as it may have been a different with the actual teacher.

This was on 12/6/24 at the 4.30pm class at crewe bannatynes health club.

This experience has put my already nervous 4yr old off having swim lessons now. So kudos to that guy who should NOT be working with little children.

AVOID

Absolutely shocking customer service. My son was moved up a group and his teacher had no space so I had to change to another class which is fine. I went online( logged in on my existing account) and chose a teacher that was available. It charged me an additional £40 on top of the £55 I already paid. I have now had two direct debits taken for £55. When I called to explain this is a clear error and requested it to be refunded, they refused and said they are unable to refund the payment as terms and conditions were accepted. At no point on their shoddy website did it state I was entering an additional booking for my one child. A manager who can not process a refund, what's that about? He then explained I was paying for group 3 and 4, why on earth would I want my child to attend two separate level swim lessons which are on at the same time? It's clearly a mistake and an error. When he refused to refund he also refused to allow my son to take the ADDITIONAL lessons I have paid for. Absolutely shocking company ripping people off. Even when my son had chicken pox they refused to even move or refund two missed lessons. Was he meant to just crack on and infect all the other children? Support your local swimming pools and avoid this company. THEFT and robbing scammers. Paid a premium price for a p**s poor service, I stupidly thought this would be a great company. How wrong I was.

Just cancelled our lessons

Due to staffing issues I’ve been told that I have to choose an alternative lesson day, I agreed, but what they did just cancelled lessons and don’t reply to my emails. I called them but was told they will pass on my message to branch manager. My daughter was really enjoying her classes and teachers seemed really good

Avoid this company at all costs.

Avoid this company at all costs.

They charged us to 'keep our place' throughout COVID on the basis that class sizes would be kept to 5 or below, but since then haven't held their end of the bargain anyway. They'll do anything they can to prevent you from cancelling, even the staff are embarrassed to work for the company.

Their back office staff are particularly rude as well, and don't expect a reply to your email.

Absolute disgrace

Absolute disgrace. Three lessons. Two have had only one teacher and one the teacher had to leave to be sick during the lesson. Kids doing nothing more than paddle around and there is no structure or actual teaching. One lessons the teacher took 9 children which I think is against the legal rules or certainly the guideline. Tried contacting the customer service and no response.

This is at Bannatyne’s in Wakefield. Avoid as it’s unsafe.

Keep clear of these people

This organisation is so bad on the administration and management side of things. My wife is trying to cancel my daughter's lessons but they are not replying to any of her emails she is sending, and the audacity of wanting a months notice before leaving. If had been 2 weeks that would be acceptable. They still owe us money from when a lesson had been cancelled in the past by the organisers themselves and we always have had problems regarding previous refunds.

Bad customer service

If i could give less than one star i would, cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period as my daughter didn't like the group swim being 3 years old she wanted me in the water with her for the first time for support and couldn't do that. When i cancelled they tried to change me the full months pay even though we had only been at one lesson for 5 minutes poolside and didn't actually get in the water.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place obviously money hungry unfortunatly i hadnt seen that they do taster courses to see if it would work but i didnt see them when booking.

Doesn't even deserve a star!

Doesn't even deserve a star!

Don't be fooled by being associated with Becky Addington. Stick to your local leisure centre for a much better experience at the fraction of the cost!

Teachers don't turn up, class times constantly changed. The quality of the lessons is terrible.

Avoid at all costs! It seems premium price does not mean premium service!

If I could give zero stars I would. Avoid at all costs

If I could give zero stars I would. We started with Swinstars before COVID. We decided to support them through COVID and were repaid with constant cancellations with no warning and no contact. Meaning we would drive 30 minutes to find out no instructor had turned up. You have to request a refund for cancelled lessons which often takes weeks and weeks to happen. The final straw was when 4 lessons in a row were cancelled. I have sent 9 emails requesting a refund and not 1 email has been answered. I finally got a reply from an email and they agreed to refund the 4 lessons in 10 - 14 days. so far 3 weeks later and still no refund. By far this is the worst company I have ever had the displeasure to use. They charge a premium price and deliver the lowest service possible. I would advise anyone to avoid this company at ALL costs !

Constant cancellation of lessons

Constant cancellation of lessons. It’s a shame, it started so well, but has nose dived very quickly.
East Kilbride a joke, instructors don’t show & 1 ends up doing both lessons at same time. Constant text message to cancel, no shows. Very poor.

Too many lessons cancelled

Too many lessons cancelled at very short notice. Cannot get through to the venue directly as they do not have a telephone number. Takes ages to hear from the general office in response to complaints

Terrible

so after nearly 4 years of going i found out our children are only half way through the course levels - these are 2 sporty kids that enjoy swimming and listen! the constant change of teachers, sickness of teachers and general non observation of what they are doing has probably caused this.I took them to another class yesterday who assessed them for an hour and they couldnt believe that they had been held back in a class when i showed them the criteria for that level with beck Adlington's course.
We have changed to a new venue that has 1 shower for 2 classes of children and last week the toilet was out of order, the insult is im being charged the same as when these classes were at a national gym chain. the response from the customer service team was simply we are working on it - that's not good enough as you should of worked on it before you moved! have literally just cancelled both children out and will find another class in the Chester area. Speaking to other parents alot of people will be leaving.

The 2 stars if for the direct debit…

The 2 stars if for the direct debit department. I can't fault my children's teachers.

So firstly my daughter moved up a class and in their mix up I got charged twice. Rang direct debit line to be told I would have to wait 10 to 14 working days to get the money back after a lot of discussion they then said they could fast track it...which they did..

Couple of months later I joined the same venue and received 10% discount. So my children started different times so DD comes out different days. 1st DD was full amount so got in touch and mentioned my 2nd DD...only for them to do exactly the same. Rang again to be told 10 to 14 days and they don't fast track anymore..asked to speak to manager and gor cut off !!

Unsatisfied with the expensive service

My son has been attending Rebecca’s swim stars for about 13 months. I recently took my son swimming whilst on holiday, to discover to my horror that my son still could not swim! Why have I been paying £50 pm for over the last 13 months? Most weeks he had a new teacher or new members in the class which where holding him back.
What a rip off, in my opinion I would never recommend this company they are arrogant, greedy and not to be recommended.

Shocking customer service

We were advised to book classes at another Adlington venue due to class availability and charged for both. We have been trying to get a refund for nearly 12 months only to be told by Total Fitness and Harlands, the organisation who manage the finances, that it’s not their responsibility.

We cannot get a reply from Becky Adlingtons Swim Stars via email or telephone. Shocking!

Do not use

Do not use! Impossible to contact. Customer care non existent. Awful service. Expensive and substandard.
Instructor even advised us to leave!
We have tried to contact multiple times by phone, email, Facebook even messenger. No response from any! Money has been taken out twice each month from my account but unable to resolve the issue! I bet Rebecca would be horrified if she knew the state of affairs. Well I hope she would!

Terrible

Terrible, we went to the Altrincham branch and signed up our two boys. In the short time we stayed the swimming instructor was cancelled and replaced with someone else several times, all the instructors are young kids who are not really interested at all. They cancelled some lessons and then told us we had to call customer services to get refunded. Good luck trying to get through to customer services. When we cancelled our membership and direct debit, they somehow managed to set up a new direct debit as they had changed their banking system and took money out of our account weeks after we had left!!!! I left several voicemails and emails and no response. Fraudulent service at its best. Avoid at all costs. In the end had to call our credit card company to get our money back. Absolutely appalling.
