This companies claims about saving…
This companies claims about saving approximately $251.00 a year by using their Auto Merit Program is a very misleading statement. I have a 97% rating on Auto Merit yet my insurance actually went up $40.00 per year at renewal. I'm 59 years old, had no claims, tickets or accidents. Just more BS from this horrible company.
My home had been insured for 27 years…
My home had been insured for 27 years until Johnson insurance was acquired by Belair Direct. We were claims free, have a high credit score and are a professional couple. In 2022 we moved into a resale home. Within 1 week (and completely out of our control- also has a home inspection), the sewer backed up. A claim was filed and settled no issue. In October 2024 the waterline from the street to the home cracked underground and required repair. A small home claim was filed. Fast forward to June 26, 2025. I received a registered letter (no phone call, no prior explanation) that Bélair the as cancelling my home policy because I had 2 claims in 5 years. How am I supposed to know my sewer would backup or waterline be compromised? Why pay home insurance (with enhanced coverage) if you cannot rely on Bélair to be there when you need them? I will move my vehicles as will friends and family after this experience. Beware, if you have bad luck and need to use Bélair to repair issues, they will cancel your policy. I’m waiting to see what the Ombudsman replies with and the IBC.
Horrible customer service!
Horrible customer service!! The only positive experience I had was using the chat online but they can only go so far to help you before you get the rude staff that refuse to listen to you! Benefit of the rude staff found so many cheaper options for my insurance.
All Sounded great until..
All Sounded great until... they found out for auto... no accidents, claims, fines...
home great evern being a 200 year old home completely redone top to bottom..
add the fact of small hobby farm and liability of "possible" animal escape and farm sale of 30 doz eggs per month...
They simply refused to underwrite...if that is the simple loophole they can find to deny coverage....
What will they do when you actually do need to make a claim?
Do not go with Belair Direct Insurance
Do not go with this company! We were covered with Johnson Insurance through Servus prior to Belair taking them over. We were previously very pleased with Johnson Incorporated. Today though we had a bad experience with Belair Direct. They took over our policies approximately 3 years ago. Today, we had a transport truck drive past us on the highway and throw a rock at our Mini Cooper and shatter our moonroof. They said they will not cover it as we don’t have windshield coverage. We do have “Comprehensive Coverage” so it should be covered according to our policy and everyone we’ve spoken to. Belair also said that we should’ve chased down the truck and got the license plate number - even though we were covered in glass from the roof exploding. It’s completely ridiculous. The commercials they show on TV of how easy it is to make a claim is a complete LIE! Their marketing is False Advertising! Very Poor Customer Service👎
horrible company, no loyalty
stay as far away from these clowns you can. i was with them for 7 years. only once did my pŕemuim go down. yes i had a couple of minor speeding tickets. never had any demerit points lost. i drive uber 75k km per year. so in 2024 i was in first 2 accidents ever. feb 2024 a guy slide into me by not stoppjng at a stop sign. their adjuster said it was my fault. i only put the claim in cause i thought it was his fault. other guy had no damage. and mine was less than the deductable. so belair paid nothing. 2nd accident in nov 2024 was my fault but i havnt got that damage fixed yet. just cosmedic. my insurance renews june 17th every year. may 25th i just happen to find an email from may17th that they wont be renewing my iinsurance because 2 accidents in 6 years. then they tried to send me to their sister company. i figured my premium would go up. but to boot me like that with a random email is bs. i was never told anything about 2 accidents in 6 years. least these people could have done is told me last november. so i could find a new company. they still have never put a penny into either of my cars. this company has no loyalty. 1st acident your premuims wont go up they say. but 2nd, they boot ya to the curb
This company won't see me again.
This company won't see me again.
After years as a customer they demanded full payment or they would cancel my policy.
I switched, and there was a small balance I forgot about. They sent it to collections.
Great business decision !! B-bye!
Still Receiving Mail for my Deceased Mom After Numerous Calls
I was happy with them for their rates, although they do keep creeping up. I've never had a claim with them thankfully so no experience on that. However where my one star lies is their constant mistake on sending promo mail to my mom who passed away about 3.5yrs ago. I called in to cancel her insurance and then called in over 4 times over the past years to get this sorted out. Every time I'm told it's been sorted only to find get more mail addressed to her. The final time I submitted a case file to the complaint department only to get a measly sorry. Sorry works when it's a mistake once, not over 4 times! This makes me question how well their customer service works in other departments.
Bad customer service
Bad customer service, slow service, insurance started but no liability slip. After repeated telephonic calls each last for an hour and above, reply our system is down we can not generate any paper, despite insurance processed a week before, but cannot drive due to nonavailability of proof of insurance. Have to Uber to and from work, Belair didnot agree to compensate their own mistake, and repeated one thing system is down

When you see a car insurance quote…
When you see a car insurance quote online, it often appears cheaper. After you agree and submit your bank account and other information, they may ask you to call them. Once you call, they might tell you a higher amount—sometimes even double the original quote. Be careful!
Belairdirect
Belairdirect – Extremely Disappointing Claims Experience
Unfortunately, Belairdirect has proven to be one of the worst auto insurance companies I’ve dealt with — if not the worst.
You truly understand the quality of your insurer only when you file a claim, and my experience was nothing short of frustrating. After an accident where I was not at fault, the initial representative clearly stated that I could proceed with repairs and that my claim would be covered.
However, the case was later referred internally, and from that point on, I was left in the dark — emails were ignored, communication stopped, and I was given no updates for over two months.
When they finally responded, I was told the claim had been denied, despite still acknowledging that I was not at fault. The lack of transparency, consistency, and basic customer service was truly shocking.
This experience reflects poorly on their internal processes and how they treat customers when it matters most. I would strongly caution others against choosing Belairdirect based on my experience.
They charged 2 payments on my cc and blamed ME
Had a horrible experience with Belairdirect renewing my 2025 -2026 coverage. A second payment was charged to my credit card. I went through customer service, complaint to the Privacy Office as customer service said my cc info was not on file. Then HOW did they make a second charge 2 days later. I did NOT do a 2nd payment. They don’t even have a reference or confirmation number for the 2nd charge, which are automatically generated when a client makes a payment as confirmation.
Their answer: Both payments originated and were initiated outside of belairdirect with client methods: the website and mobile application. The website and mobile app are NOT outside Belairdirect!
Privacy Office answer: They recommend for ME to contact Moneris, their 3rd party vendor that processes payments for them, to find out to why THEY charged my credit card.
Unless you are paying cash, watch you back account and credit card closely!
Chat reps are a joke
Chat reps are a joke. I wanted to add my son to policy. I requested a change in coverages. Asked for a rider to be sent by email for confirmation. Was asked "what is a rider." Asked for material changes in coverage on second vehicle. Was told that coverages would come into effect within 24-48 hours.
A week later, (going through the rigamarole of installing a useless app that I will never use again I find that my son has not been added to the policy, nor have any coverages been amended, nor has a principal change to my vehicle be addressed.
Where can I speak to an actual person who has had at least *some* remedial training without reliance to a script?
I was on the phone waiting to talk to…
I was on the phone waiting to talk to an agent for over 50 minutes when at 8:02 PM someone answered the phone and told me that they closed at 8:PM and did I want a call back in the morning. I am busy in the morning so I will be cancelling all 3 policies that I currently have with them. Aditionally it took 3.5 minutes to navigate their horrible answering system

Today I experienced the worse day of my life losing my money for nothing and can't defend my self.
After one year good driving experience still my car insurance raised I got quote from other company which was almost half of my insurance I call to cancel my policy with this company they charged my 400 for cancellation fee which had renewed one month ago without notifying me. Its very Very terrible
Emotional Distress Over Their Mistakes”
Emotional Distress Over Their Mistakes”
I am so hurt and angry right now. belairdirect has caused me emotional stress and financial anxiety and credit damage for something they messed up. I did everything right. I canceled my policy, switched insurance, and kept paying them for my tenant insurance without issue. If they truly believed I still had car insurance with them, why didn’t they take my money like they used to? Why wait two years to drop a surprise bill on me? This is manipulation. It’s gaslighting. And it’s cruel. No company should treat people like this especially not after years of loyal service.
Rune from BELAIRDIRECT INSURANCE!! They are thifes and scammers do not truth them
Is it possible to give ZERO stars?
I have been trying to reach my claims representative to close out the claim for weeks. No responses via email. No returned phone calls despite speaking to multiple people in the claims department who have sent her messages asking her to call me. Even though the case has been escalated and I should have received a call back within 24 hours, nothing. Horrible customer service. Will be switching providers as soon as I can close this claim.
