I can’t recommend Fidan enough to any parent looking for a SEND swimming teacher. She tailors every lesson to suit my autistic son’s sensory and communication needs, making him feel safe and understood. Her calm, consistent approach has helped him gain a level of water confidence we once thought was out of reach.
Britannia Leisure Centre is truly fortunate to have such a skilled and inclusive instructor on their team.

Teachers don’t focus on individuals just doing drills as groups, if the kids keep up, great even if they are not doing the technique correctly, they’re getting through. Now if your child can’t cheap up, then they just get left behind by the teachers, the teachers don’t look about to give individual tips

They keep rising prices every single year... it's getting expensive

Great venue, very popular to the point of not being able to secure a place esp. for the morning resistance training classes,
The better the teacher the more dirt book in what you want, a bit frustrating.

I want to share my experience at Britannia on February 5, 2026. What happened was incredibly frustrating for regular paying customers. Every Sunday, it seems that normal patrons are being asked to leave the swimming pool due to private bookings made by a Jewish community group.
What Britannia doesn’t disclose is that for regular customers, private bookings cost £70 per swim lane per hour, totaling £420 for the full pool per hour and £840 for two hours. In contrast, it appears that private bookings for this community are offered at a significantly lower rate of £100 for the full pool, sauna, and steam.
Yesterday, our swimming session was canceled at the last minute because this community had made a booking. It feels like Britannia prioritizes only these private bookings over the needs of hard-working individuals who come to relax after a long day. I believe that such bookings should be categorically banned during peak times to ensure fair access for all customers.
I hope that Britannia can find a better way to balance private bookings with the needs of all its patrons.

My daughter loves her swimming lessons and looks forward to going each week

Centre was said to have parking but didn't. The session with the instructor was very good if a bit fast for a beginner. Nice venue. Has lifts.
Only has 3 disable bays on street outside. While I dont have blue badge I have limited walking mobility which is why I'm accessing sessions.
Trainer waa good as was the room .

I really like all the facilities at the Britannia Leisure centre, it's a great place place for such a variety of physical activities! However, so many times I see the big sports hall unused and empty where I'm sure that people would enjoy using it to e.g. play basketball in it. I know, there might be dedicated basketball times or regular clubs that one could sign up to, but I think it would really serve the community if the centre managers/staff would be more forthcoming with such spontaneous endeavours. (I.e., if the hall is empty and not booked for/by any specific activity, I think it should be free to use for anyone to do whatever they want in it)
Thank you so much!

I swim and do classes at Better Centres in Hackney. The facilities and the trainers are all great, changing rooms very clean and the staff doing a good job. The only bad thing about Better is its App, which still has quite a lot of bugs. But it's worth putting up with its quirks to access such great leisure facilities all across London.

Better Gym exceeded my expectations. The facilities are sleek, modern, and super clean. I love the variety of classes and the trainers are super supportive.

For the money that the membership costs, you would expect more.
There are barely any lockers that work. There are always ‘out of order’ signs on equipment, e.g. 3 treadmills were unusable and no indication of being fixed the whole time I’ve been at this gym.

Not teaching swimming techniques - don't know why I'm paying for somebody to tell my kids to put head in water, blow bubbles and kick around on a float. Teachers never demonstrate anything - just shouts out the 'instructions' once and expect these 4-5 year olds to comprehend it straight away (without further explanations or demonstrations on their part).

Changing room is not clean alot if water and your time table is not accurate after we book Steam they said steam doesn't work this is ridiculous staff also they are not happy to help

This review is less about the customer service Better provided about a specific membership issue. It has everything to do with how Britannia Gym (Hackney) is managed. It is abysmally poor: 8-10 lockers have not worked for over 6months. Filthy floors, machines and equipment fraying or not oiled and maintained.
This gym allows local youths in for free every Friday. They come in for horseplay and to smoke cannabis in the toilets.
Equally, there seems to be no limit to the number of people it allows in. Surely health and safety dictates there are limits for gym areas, or for fire evacuation?
Do something!!!!

I wanted to leave a positive review for 2 members of staff in particular. Priya and Lathanial, I found them very helpful, kind and professional.
It’s sad to say we live in a world where most people don’t do the job they are paid to do and cut corners and are not helpful to customers. But these 2 members of staff made my day, honestly they have been very polite and professional. A big thumbs up to both Priya and Lathanial at Britannia leisure centre. Please reward them both! Thank you.

What I like about the teachers is that they teach good. I don't like that the company every two month or three month they make us double payments and also they don't answer the phone .I hope they will fix it.

Couldn't book my daughter onto swimming classes At Brittania leisure centre and Kirsty was really helpful and talked me through the whole process, waiting very patiently for me to book. Thank you Kirsty! :)

I love the service provided at Britannia leisure Centre, particularly, as they continue to revolve by including new features and classes. However, parking restrictions and overzealous parking enforcement officers have turned the whole experience into more of a nightmare for disabled drivers who are notoriously punished for parking on double yellow lines more often than not.
This does not promote inclusivity but rather promotes unnecessary stress, panic and economic hardship. How is that for health and wellbeing?

Nice and friendly place. The staff are professional and experienced and I will recommend anyone
