Lovely, helpful staff. However no spin bike which is crucial in managing my health condition. Please invest in more spin bikes for the gym area or allow gym members access to the spin bikes without having to book a class. This non weight bearing exercise is a very important part of managing many musculoskeletal conditions. Thank you

Needs a refurb. Tiles falling off ceiling, mirrors smashed. Tv's not working

Reply from Better - Fairwater Leisure Centre
Lovely smallish gym with a good selection of machines and weights. Enough for the average person looking to tone and keep fit. But it doesn't attract the muscle types, which is perfect for me.

Haven't used the gym for a number of years because of caring duties but am now glad I've got to it. The set up is similar to what I remember and it is excellent

This is a former council leisure centre that has been taken over by a private company - Better UK.
Better have left the gym to rot to the point of containing many serious health hazards - namely, nearly every ceiling tile has damp and mould, and nearly every piece of equipment is in a rusty and dangerous condition.
There are so many problems that this is clearly the result of many years’ worth of neglect and disinvestment.
Despite all that they have the audacity to charge £40 per month for a basic gym membership. Clearly Better are siphoning money out of the centre until it rots into oblivion, at which point they will probably abandon it.
On the positive side the staff are helpful and professional and do a good job and the gym is always clean.
Ps I am going to pre-empt any PR spin in the reply by highlighting the following:
• Not paying dividends doesn’t mean money isn’t extracted through inflated salaries, consultancies, or admin overhead.
• Calling an organization a “social enterprise” is often used to project virtue, while operations may still be opaque, inefficient or exploitative.
• “Reinvesting in the community” is only meaningful if you can actually see and feel those investments — otherwise, it’s PR spin.
Please don’t ask me to disbelieve the evidence of my own eyes. Your gym is in an abysmal state.

Very kind and helpful staff. I use the swimming pool, the gym and soft play. I am yet to attend a fitness class, but I'm looking forward to it as it provides a good sense of community whilst looking after my physical and mental well being.
