They have a great pool and clean showers. The gym gets a bit packed sometimes. The staff is always very helpful, specially the man at the front desk.

This is a really good gym. Not too crowded, and a friendly vibe. Classes aren’t great - far too big. But the biggest issue is the price. At £60 it is double or triple (depending on deal/package) the price of Puregym nearby and it says there is no joining fee, but still charges £12 in “administration” (What??). I understand that it includes pool, but as someone who doesn’t use the pool, it is an unreasonable fee. I suspect the majority of members will be on some type of concession as it is just too pricey. Pleeeeease consider other membership/gym only options.

Better gym is so welcoming and inclusive of everyone. The staff go above and beyond to help, particularly Shaz who is brilliant at his job and really cares, making sure everyone gets the help they need and no query or problem goes unheard. He is a credit to Better Gym’s.

I feel very safe in the environment. I have often felt very intimidated in a gym setting but at Kentish Town I feel relaxed & able to workout without judgement. Also big, light, airy space

The manager (I assume he’s the manager? And if not he should be!) of Kentish Town swimming pool and gym is just amazing - so professional, lovely, welcoming! Whether he’s on the welcome desk or speaking over the tannoy he is always so willing to help. I’m not sure I’ve ever met someone as good at speaking to people as him, he’s even cheerful in the morning - really does spread joy. Better are very lucky to have him!

I’ve been attending this gym for a while, and while it has some good points, there are several major issues that need to be addressed.
First, the organization of the free weights is a complete mess. There’s absolutely no structure, and people don’t respect any system for putting weights back in their designated spots. The staff does nothing to fix this or enforce any rules, which is frustrating.
The layout of the gym is another major downside. One section of the gym is incredibly overcrowded, while the rest is practically empty. It’s not just inconvenient; it’s unsafe. The equipment is placed far too close together, creating a risk of injury. Whoever planned the setup really dropped the ball here—it's a bad design and poorly executed.
On the positive side, the natural light is great. There are plenty of windows, so the gym is filled with daylight, which makes the environment more pleasant. Also, the swimming facilities are a nice perk if that’s something you're into.
That said, the gym is only worth it if you can get a discount, like if you’re unemployed or have a disability. If you have to pay full price, there are far better options nearby for even less money.
