Harry at Moss Side Leisure Centre is an amazing swimming teacher.
He went above and beyond for my 4 year-old who was scared to get in the water and was upset in the water.
Harry dedicated time and care to make sure that my son both had a good first swimming lesson and that he loved it by the end!
And by the way, this is despite other rude parents giving them hassle for just doing their job and asking them to sit in the parent's gallery.
Rarely do I write a review but Harry and the others on Saturday mornings warrant it. Amazing.

Customer service could be improved, as some members of the team at the front desk are not always very helpful or welcoming. Additionally, the upstairs weights gym lacks modern equipment and does not compare well with other gyms that offer more up-to-date facilities.

I attended the Mindfulness class with Andrea on Saturday and it was genuinely outstanding. It was clear from the moment the class started that a great deal of thought and care had gone into every detail. The lighting, the incense, and the overall atmosphere created a calm and welcoming environment that immediately helped everyone relax and switch off from the outside world.
Andrea’s instructions were clear, easy to follow, and delivered with confidence and warmth. She struck the perfect balance between guidance and allowing people the space to enjoy the experience in their own way.
Andrea’s attention to detail and obvious passion for what she does made a real difference. A fantastic class that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to improve their wellbeing and take some time out from the chaos of modern life. Humans do seem determined to make life unnecessarily stressful, so it’s nice when someone creates an hour of peace.

Friendly staff, machines usage is easy as per the first induction, facilities are all up to date.

2-Star Review
I’ve been a loyal member of GLL at Better Gyms for a long time, largely because of the strong community and the quality of the instructors. However, the recent decision to remove instructors’ freedom to choose their own music, while membership prices continue to rise, has been very disappointing and has made me reconsider my membership.
The classes have always stood out because of the instructors. Andrea, for example, is one of the most skilled and experienced instructors I’ve encountered.
All instructors show attention to detail — from anatomical precision and thoughtful choreography to carefully curated playlists, creates high and explosive energy in classes that genuinely bring people together. Music isn’t just background noise in these sessions; it’s part of the structure and atmosphere that makes up the community and classes work.
Better is run by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), a social enterprise whose mission promotes improving community wellbeing through physical activity. That’s why it’s surprising that a policy affecting such a core part of the class experience appears to have been introduced without meaningful consultation with members or instructors.
In a city like Manchester, where music is such a huge part of the culture, switching to licence-free music is removing much of the personality and energy that makes these classes special. It also feels like it undervalues the instructors whose expertise and creativity are central to the community that has formed around the gym.
Right now, the restrictive musical policy has taken away the instructor’s professionalism, creativity and the magic that made this place stand out.
Reconsidering this decision would go a long way towards rebuilding confidence that members’ experiences and the local community culture is being taken into account.

Regarding the relocation of the women’s class gym, I would like to express my concern that the new gym is very small, and the machines have been placed extremely close to one another in a way that feels uncomfortable and potentially unsafe. In addition, there is an important machine that many of us women rely on — the squat machine — which is essential for our training. Furthermore, the glutes machine is not available in the new gym, which significantly limits our workout options.

You have fined me for a booking I didn't make and have not resolved the complaint saying it's the gyms fault not yours yet you sent the email and want the payment of yhe fine.

Disgustingly dirty, old outdated equipment that wobbles unsafely when you use it.
Weights and equipment left all over the place which is a trip hazard and makes it really hard to find what you’re looking for. The women’s room is next to the squash court so it’s hard getting in the zone with such loud banging on the wall.
I don’t understand how it’s so expensive, the money is clearly not going back into the gym. I regret signing up and will be going back to my old gym.

Was a member of Moss Side Leisure Centre for around 3 years purely for convenience of location and have gladly cancelled my membership as I have now moved.
During that time, the equipment has always been tired and limited and has virtually never been replaced. The price is incredibly high considering the quality and range of equipment and limited opening hours, and the toilets are frequently dirty and not stocked with soap. The wifi also doesn’t seem to work.
There are plenty of lovely people there, but there are plenty more who:
- never re-rack dumbbells and plates and leave equipment strewn everywhere
- hog multiple machines/racks and refuse to let others share
- leave rubbish around
- plug their phones into the stereo system and blast their music at ridiculous volumes
I’ve complained to staff about these issues a number of times (as have others) and whilst they seem understanding, they are either unable or unwilling to do anything about it.
Save your money and sanity and go elsewhere - especially as prices are due to rise yet again.

Weight rooms are always messy. Dry changing rooms smells. Wet room changing stalls are dirty - walls and floor. The dehumidifier seems to frequently break, which makes it hot and uncomfortable.

It is that I want to move my daughters from our local centre to another.
After she moved the kids from the centre I asked her they have to, to swim their weekly lesson and not missed especially this time as they were about to take certificate for swimming 50m.
We went the centre they had shower before going to the pool, sadly they weren't on the register, very annoying and missed their lesson. I call them on Saturday normally their lesson ison Mondays. I told them let them start other centre the 16th and she aggreed but look. Very disappointed and sad .

My first use of the gym my induction was with a gentleman called Tommy. He was very supportive and took me through how to use the equipment. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the premises are clean.

Very bad and horrible experience with the customer service they did not accept my student ID card and the university produced enrollment letter to confirm my student status.
I am a university student doing an engineering degree and they did not accept my university produced letter i gave them to confirm my status. Very bad and unprofessional i would not recommend this to anyone.
I haven’t received any emails from better health customer service regarding this.

You can get a workout done I guess and the staff are helpful and very nice when you speak to them so I have given 2 stars instead of 1. The AC works 20% of the time so it is uncomfortable to workout 80% of the time. Most of the machines are quite old; the seats are ripping or the machine wobbles when you sit down. There is a lot of rust on the machines too - I don't know if that's just how it's supposed to be since it's metal. Puregym and the GymGroup are cheaper and have much better quality machines. The only issue is this gym is the closest. I can get a decent enough workout in though, just the conditions are not the best for how much it is - £34.50/month. Again, the staff are very nice and friendly, just some equipment / parts of equipment need replacing / updating and the AC needs fixing.

Equipment is old and run down in the gym, especially moss side leisure centre.
The customer service at this branch isn’t good and a lot of staff have attitude which doesn’t go down well with gym users.
Staff turn over is awful.
The small pool is never open for family fun swim.
Save your money and go elsewhere, because it is not worth it.
Waseel is one of the best workers here, he is very helpful and formative when it comes to prices and memberships. He has amazing customer service skills.
