Since I joined in 2020 as a Senior 66+ member at St Ives Leisure Centre, I have seen several positive improvements. I took a couple of fitness classes which were limiting in availablabity at that time, and mainly used the gym, although I found the equipment outdated, as opposed to the all singing and dancing equipment I was used to. However the view from the gym is incredible which I found uplifting. I also found it odd that their were no full time gym support assistants, which again, I had been used to at my previous Leisure centre in Somerset. Aside from this, I soon set myself up to continuing my fitness schedule with what I had, until the Covid Pandemic hit. Since then and the main reason for this review, is to share how much I enjoy coming to this leisure centre. I'm happy to say the gym equipment has been updated and floorspace rearranged. More importantly for me, the number of fitness classes available, that I am able to join has increased. I thoroughly enjoy all the new fitness classes introduced, (plus many more are available, I am making new acquaintances and feel included. This is all down to Vicky and her dream team, encouraging and supportive in every aspect of fitness, learning and wellbeing. I find the NEW classes at my level of fitness to be a joy, namely Pilates, Aqua Aerobics (who knew I'd get into the swimming pool), Step aerobics and Dance fitness. Everyone is helpful and friendly. Please, please can the powers that be, add to the selection of activities already available! Would love Sauna, Mindfulness and Meditation, Zumba and Yoga Fitness..just saying 🙏

Dominique was lovely and helped me with my registration. She also showed me around the gym and how to use the equipment and helped book me in my first gym and swim times. Definitely great customer service so thank you.

Went to St.Ives Leisure Centre today and it was as bad as it gets, no doors on the family changing room, badly overcrowded, like this place cares more about money than making sure those whom had booked the family fun swim had a good time.
The area where they expect you to leave your shoes is beyond a joke as it is the main entrance & exit and the idiots that took these bookings must have known that allowing so many to book would cause carnage.
Like they give a damn….well perhaps they will when no one turns up….Because we will never ever consider this awful place again….There are many other negatives but have no time to mention them all.
Just avoid this place full stop unless you enjoy being herded like cattle, through a dilapidated massively overcrowded hell hole with a freezing cold pool that you can’t swim in because the traffic is beyond a joke….AVOID.
WHAT A REPLY……GET BETTER FOR THE FUTURE….THERE IS NO FUTURE FOR THIS KIND OF PLACE….DONT TAKE YOUR FAMILY TO THIS PLACE.

What a complete disaster.I rang the call centre to join and it was so complicated they advised go into the centre. The staff completed my membership for me , they got the concession age completely wrong, they gave me a membership that was supposed to have blue light discount , which didn’t , and even though I asked to attend all classes , they joined me in an off peak scheme.Hence I rang tried to book some classes and was charged for them. They didn’t know how long I got with my parking permit , and there was some ridiculous email system for booking classes when they became available . I hence phoned the same day to change my membership to the correct one . They told me I had to cancel the initial membership then rejoin the correct one . However because I had paid at the leisure centre they couldn’t refund me online and I had to return to the leisure centre . Knowing what I did about how incompetent they were I asked the customer service people to email me that instruction as I knew / feared this would be a problem on returning to the leisure centre . I returned to the leisure centre , showed them the email , and as expected , they said they couldn’t refund me and I had to ring the call centre . Now 5 hours into the saga I got the leisure centre to ring the call centre , they never had their number and couldn’t contact them …you couldn’t make it up … I thought it was a wind-up …I then got them the number so they could ring through and they suggested it was my fault , the original staff member then left and went into a back office to leave somebody else with the problem . They then filled out an online form to request a refund , that too was dreadful . We filled this out and they stated I would be refunded within 14 days . After 8 days , I got an email stating they couldn’t cancel the membership until I had sent proof of my age . This was suggesting I had been given an age concession membership , which I hadn’t . I rang them again , I couldn’t even begin to comprehend their explanation as to why they sent this . Initially I set up a direct debit with them for monthly payments which they told me would be cancelled … guess what … it wasn’t … and I had to contact my bank as well . There was not one good thing I could say about the entire process . When I joined I asked about parking , the staff told me I got up to 2 hours parking , however a customer in the queue ( which had become very long ) said it was 3 hours … I never did resolve this , but when I finally cancelled the other member said I could park 24x7 . I failed to add , that whilst I was initially trying to join , other customers came to the centre to purchase day tickets … the staff never knew how to use the computer / till to provide a day ticket …. The process on the day took me 6 hours to progress , and my refund took 9 days … what a complete joke … Probably the worst company I have ever dealt with for anything …

Initially on joining as a new member the staff weren’t over helpful on explaining everything including possibility of an induction around the gym and more bothered about taking my money. It wasn’t until I went on my second visit that Laura behind reception explained everything and was very nice. However my wife who joined at the same time and I am her carer found the atmosphere and setup of the gym not good and we will be cancelling our direct debits after our current months membership runs out.
