I joined the Wimbledon Leisure Centre 9 days ago, my main priority was to partake in aqua aerobics. I was put on the waitlist 8am last Thursday (16 July) for aqua aerobics to be held tomorrow (23 July). I am still on the waitlist.
Can you please explain how there were so many people before me at 8am Thursday (16 July)? Also do I turn up tomorrow at 11am in the hope that one of the lucky punters cancels their attendance at the class? Have I joined in vain never to taste the delights of aqua aerobics? I cannot attend Mondays. Please advise me.
Apart from this I must compliment Dennis, the receptionist, who was most affable and extremely helpful. Generally speaking the Centre has a very good vibe and I was quite impressed by the community atmosphere.

Once in Cannon I presented my invoice with a bar code explaining why. The receptionist(not the usual one) scanned the code and threw it back without a word. The difference between a receptionist and a concierge is that the later act like an experiential guide, know you by your name, curates personalized rapport, and generally not unlike a shepherd, cared for those under his charge. You will find a “concierge” in Wimbledon( I wish not to embarrass him by naming him). He will greet you well with a down to earth charm and still have the time to go round the pool to make sure all is happy and well in the pool he signed in. I found him once picking up rubbish in the changing room and another time on the street of Wimbledon with a happy “hello”.
You may not find a concierge in Modern Morden or the swampy Cannon of Mitcham.
Still, I am only here for the swim but it is nice to have nice people around.
An ancient sage says “When the heart is still, it will not be hot”. So, I turned from the long and arid mirage on Wimbledon Broadway into shaded leafy garden of Trinity Church Garden in sought of some relief from this scorched Earth not knowing it was going to be the hottest day on record. I closed my eyes by the shade of the bamboo beside a yellow rose. When I open my eyes I found one half of the rose remain yellow but a pedal facing the sun has lost its colour into blazing light. I tried again and closed my eyes and open again after a prolong effort to still my heart only to find the blinding light has blurred into a radiant source as if the pedal itself has become the light itself.
Blinded by the light or not, I am not ready for either burning bushes nor roses. So I hurried through the scorched earth to where I hope to find solace from this wretched heat; Wimbledon Swimming Bath.
The shock of pool water surprised me. A sparkling mature lady smiled and said “I won’t splash” as I dipped into the sweet cool nectar of all life; Water, water, water.
She said “There is only one thing certain in life, Death and”. I injected “ taxes”. It dawned upon me this fragile gentle old woman could had been a Claire Forlani as in the film “Joe Black” sixty years on. She was as barmy as the midday sun or as wise. She said he was only in just for a quick dip and off she’ll go into the her garden sipping hot tea for the rest of the day. She said she going to cramp a lot of living in in at her age. She was a charm.
At the deep end I came upon a woman clinging to the edge with her face pressed disconcertingly against the pool wall while a group of women were laughing and chatting brightly among themselves midstream down the lane. I wanted to say “Hello” to the face against the pool. Instead, I steal pass and deferred the Fast Lane to the prettiest swimmer in Wimbledon talking to a tall handsome gentleman having, hopefully, their moments;- He said, “Did not see you last or the week before !”. She said,“Yeh, I was .... “. She got her neon lighted goggles on this week and she is a splendid swimmer. So we he.
I heard someone said we go through the entire earthly evolution in our fetal development. We all started as a fish in the womb. Oh. if only the fish in us can swim like I did on this scorch of a day. I swam slow, very slow, gliding through the water like a fish. I felt the gentle caresses that stripped the heat like a glove and for one fleeting instance I felt I have returned to beyond the sea. This is where we started. This is where we belong. The great Silence Blue Ocean before we ever existed and still within us.

We are very happy with Better Wimbledon Leisure Centre and the swimming lessons they provide. Since joining, both my son and daughter have improved their swimming skills significantly. The instructors are patient, professional, and encouraging, helping children build confidence in the water while making lessons enjoyable.
The facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. It's been wonderful to see the progress my children have made, and they look forward to every lesson. I would highly recommend Better Wimbledon Leisure Centre to any parent looking for quality swimming lessons for their children.

Having joined 2 weeks ago I've spent over 45 minutes on hold to customer services after the gym said they cant fix an issue with my blue light card membership. I can't use the gym and can't resolve the issue and my money has been taken.

I became a member of the Wimbledon leisure centre recently. Fatima is a great instructor. Lots of energy, she appears to enjoys teaching so much that it feels like she is part of the class. A really asset to the leisure centre

My local gym closed 6 months ago and I suffered a trauma. Went to the Wimbledon better and was helped by 3 of the reception staff who made the joining procedure easy. Thank you Dennis.

The app needs a bit of love but the Staff are incredible. Please make sure they know how important they are. Facility is fine, the ambience is serene and welcoming without being pushy but the lads on the front desk are legends.

I have only just joined and found it to be very friendly in members and staff.
Their are few things I personally think could be improved on.
(1) changing room lockers I feel are to small and narrow, especially in the ground floor men's changing room.
I like to use the gym and pool and I like to change into civvy clothes when I have finish, you cannot fit a small sports bag into the locker along with my civvy clothes.
(2) Some of the gym equipment is rusty so you do not know when it will be unfit to use.
(3) Some of the signage is poor/ missing, my first visit to the balcony I nearly fell on entering through the double doors due no warning about a step down.
I have been using Wimbledon Leasure Centre on off since early 50's when I went with my brothers for use of the baths, then All Saints School for swimming lessons, I also attended the fire at the centre in my capacity of Firefighter.
I have also been a Swimming instructor, mostly at Morden but many times to cover lesson at Wimbledon and Cannons.
I now enjoy being a member.

My home gym is Wimbledon, and it has something for everyone, quite literally. Changing rooms and gym have had a refurb over the last couple of years but has kept its place as part of the community. Users are greeted and treated politely by staff. Even at its busiest there's still space in the pool or the gym. The spa is an at extra cost but once again it's literally value for morning, you could go elsewhere and break the bank if you want, but its a lovely environment. Considering that gyms are opening left right and centre this has stood the test of time and is a quality place to go to.

Very clean, location easy to access if you live anywhere in Wimbledon, near to the South Wimbledon station if you’d like to come by tube. I’m very satisfied with both pool and gym facilities.

I've always liked the pool and gym here, as they're not ridiculously priced, in a beautiful, old building and all ages and abilities seem to be welcomed. We've just had a new shower put in at home and both Dennis and Mark have been very helpful and taken time to explain to other members of my family, how to use the leisure centre's showers without being a member. They even took my family members around and explained the differences in both sets of showers. They made a potentially stressful experience much more pleasant and relaxing. They both have great customer service skills and go over and above their duties.

Great classes - worked really hard but able to do so at my own level and pace. Friendly members and staff with an easy booking system and good facilities. Have added swimming to my weekly exercise programme and am enjoying the pool!

The swim teachers put my son in the wrong category more then once. Staff do not listen to the school or the parents and staff refused to give my son a swim hat. The water is too cold in the main swimming pool.

The company could leave the space for the younger employees as they are super kind and helpful. The oldest stuff arrogant and sometime they don’t provide good customer service. It depence if they had a good day or bad day! The thermal spa needs an update. The jacuzzi some tiles are missing and can be dangerous. Also few times that give me a torn towel.

The customer service was excellent and the staff were so potent and helpful
