After getting everything ready, the delivery guys wouldn't take one of the large items because it didn't have a fire tag. Fair enough, but there was no prior communication about this - it would have been very easy to give me a heads up.
When I emailed them to ask if they could just attach a new fire tag (which you can get a pack of 10 from on Amazon for £2) they just ignored me. Bizarre experience and I won't be using them again.

Terrible experience. Organised a collection of furniture from my late mother-in-law's place and I specified on my email that the earliest we could be at the property was 9.30-10am onwards as we aren't local and it would take us an hour to get there. No response, just confirmation saying booked for 7am to 1pm collection. Called them on a Friday and was told they would get back to me by Saturday. Nothing until Saturday late afternoon- a text confirmation for collection. So I called again on Sunday morning to be told the depot has no contact or means of communication with the collection team as they use 3rd party company for collection. So the advice was to take it as it comes. She said if they arrived before we got there, we would obviously miss the collection or if they arrived after 9.30am, they will collect it. She said the only thing she could do was tell me the driver's route for the day and to call from 10am ON the day of collection!! Clearly not listening to the issue on hand. Our concern was them turning up early, before we got to the property. What's the point of calling them at 10am if the driver is scheduled to arrive earlier?
She said she couldn't help and perhaps the next time we book a collection, should we miss this collection, she could do a manual booking. I asked why couldn't she arrange that for this collection. Apparently it's a very long process, there was no manager on site and it was weekend. I did inform them in the weekday!
Collection day came - surprise surprise. We got a call from delivery driver at 8.30am saying they were outside the property.
So much hassle and a wasted journey. Won't be contacting them again and will try another charity next time.

I will NEVER donate items to BHF again. I took the time to separate great condition electricals, expensive books and clothes, and got the pickup confirmation. Only to have them leave most of it there, in a mess. Now I'm abroad and my downstairs neighbour is stuck with a huge mess. There is more to report on this, but I'm limited on space here. So ungrateful for donations is great condition that they requested. NEVER AGAIN. And good luck getting through to the local branch, called countless times, no answer. A complete mess from start to finish. Shouldn't have bothered.

Booked for taking away good condition unneeded furniture. Arrived and only took a couple of items, saying they had a warehouse problem. Said they would be back the following week but then had to rebook for 2 weeks. Meant to be 2nd for pick up, as had to large items. Tracked driver who seemed to make numerous collections before us. Arrived for 2nd time and took the smaller items and left the large items saying he didn't have room. 🤷♂️ Not a well run organisation with poor communication. Try to do the right thing by recycling but don't use BHF.

This organisation is not a charity; it is a for-profit organisation. The staff in London are very poor, mainly because the drivers they send are dishonest. I have two sofas: one is a two-seater and the other is a four-seater. They are both in very good condition. They refused to collect them without any valid reason. Their excuse was that the colour is not new — does that make any sense?
They are only looking for items that are ordered directly from shops or companies and delivered to them, not used furniture from people’s homes

I had intended to donate a solid oak double bed frame in very good condition.
After waiting around my donation was rejected in seconds, on the basis that it had 3 little scratches, ‘people don’t want used looking things’ I was told??!!!
Second-hand does not mean flawless and new… it means it’s had a previous life.
Donations are accepted or rejected at the discretion of the driver, who in my case was acting like a retail buyer - pompous, rude and in a hurry, showing his ‘power’. BHF, you need to train your drivers how to deal with the public, after all they reflect you as an organisation.
I am very unhappy and disappointed in my dealings and experience with the British Heart Foundation… charity, not!!

The lady with white hair who usually serves at the check out at the high street kingslynn store is extremely rude and makes everyone in the store feel extremely uncomfortable. I have purchased and donated multiple items from this store and everytime she acts like just dealing with you is a massive problem. I refuse to be treated like that I walked out without the purchase and will never use this store again because of her.

Just dont bother
Tried to donate a love seat
Collection men was making out that the sofa has grown in size and the door frame has shrunk. Decided that they cant get it out because its too much hastle for them. They was more interested in not being blamed for damage which i told them was not the case. Basically a waste of time and i told them to leave my home as I could see they had no interest in getting the sofa out of the room. ( i told them the chair was put in the room by myself and another person - they looked at me like i was talking madness )

Have used BHF a few times before for furniture collections however this time was a totally different experience. They spent a fair amount of time going over the furniture before putting into the van and even though the items were all in good sellable condition complete with labels, some were declined!! Shocking really, but put it this way unless your items look absolutely brand new they're not keen on taking them anymore. Odd for a charity to be so picky given nothing wrong with items. Plenty of other worthy causes to donate to though so I'll be donating to elsewhere from now on.

Don’t bother to try to donate. Same as other people have mentioned, perfectly good furniture turned down by driver ( he said because they would tell him off)after having it accepted and taking it apart ready etc. If it doesn’t look like you’ve just bought it, don’t bother. Good enough for our home but not for charity!

Arranged a collection of some of my late mother’s furniture. One of the collection guys was very disrespectful and rude. Said he would t take one of the items as it was faded and worn, this chair hadn’t even been used, This chair had never been used was in perfect condition and was definitely not worn or faded. when I explained he just said “yeah I see it everyday we won’t be able to sell that”. This guy basically trampled over my mums memory and certainly had no empathy for the situation. He should find a new job which doesn’t involve people. Would I donate anything again to BHF no never I would rather put a match to it. You requested more information, please contact me as this is better discussed on a one to one basis. Thank you

I used BHF House Clearance Service in Sunderland to clear my late father's house. They did a fabulous job. They were efficient, helpful, accommodating and very thorough. I would highly recommend them and would have no hesitation in using them again.

At the beginning of the week my partner contacted British heart foundation Barnsley to arrange a collection, as I have a sofa to donate, this collection was arranged for today (Saturday 6th December) they didn't give me a time slot so I was expected to wait in all day and they never turned up, I tried ringing the store but there was no answer so I left a message and they haven't responded, not only have they wasted my time but they have shown how unreliable and unprofessional they are and I will never donate to this charity again, they don't deserve donations!
Update: the woman rang me back claiming she couldn't find my details on the system, I know for a fact we booked it because my partner had his phone on loud speaker and she asked for my number and email and confirmed Saturday for collection.

On upgrading our dining room furniture we decided to donate the old furniture , which consisted of a 6 seater extending table and matching 6 chairs with fire resistant labels attached it also had a corner tall cabinet and a large 2 piece Welsh style dresser all matching and in very good condition. So go onto the donation page fill out all the forms take pictures ready for a collection date which was started within 5 days .
On response we are informed it would be 3 weeks so weeks later my wife takes the day off work and they arrive load the table and chairs they say they don’t have room and we will have to rebook another collection. After sending pictures surely you know roughly what will fit in the van anyway we rebook wait another 3 weeks they turn up and say no room in the van again . I am now booking a tip run and would not recommend anyone to donate wish I would have read some reviews first .

I used the on line submission form to request a pick up of furniture.
More than a week later I contacted the relevant store to confirm the collection date I had asked for.
Apparently, no booking had been made - in fact no action had been taken.
I then had a call back the next day offering a date 16 days after the first contact. I declined the date and have used a different charity. My suggestion is not to use the online submission form!
Arranged a collection of furniture due to impending house move.
On the website I ticked 'dryer', which was accepted for collection.
Good email communucation.
Two miserable unfriendly blokes arrived in the advised time slot.
I was told they could not take the dryer.
Why have this on your website as an option if its declined at collection
..'cos we can't take it'..??
It was a fairly new dryer in excellent condition which I'm now stuck with on the eve of a move.
Thanks BHF! Won't be using you lot again.

Absolutely shocking how volunteers were treated. Advertises for volunteers but shop manager doesn't want them so new volunteers ignored, treated in aggressive manner and basically ignored and scowled at by manager. Very few volunteers stayed more than a week or two and it was very obvious this was the reason.
I booked a furniture collection with them on 2 occasions, 08/2024 & 10/2025. On both occasions I sent across the pictures of the items via email and waited for the 'unknown number' to call me as was advised when I booked. I never recieved any calls from them. They never showed up on the either booking I made. Truely useless. I hope my review helps others avoid wasting time with bhf collection service.

Arranged a collection of a fridge freezer in decent working order. Cancelled my first collection date and pushed it back to mid week; on the day of collection they did not turn up at all but instead sent a standard email to say my item was not considered suitable. This is without even having seen it.
I spent all morning hanging around, what a waste of time.
After being let down with the first collection day they turned up today only took the two seater sofa the 3 seater they would not take it was in perfect condition but I got the impression it was very heavey so desided not to take it
