Avoid Big Motoring World. Complete con artists!
Shortly after buying my Kia, we noticed an intermittent fault that left it unreliable as the 12v battery would run flat overnight. The car was attended by the RAC multiple times, and it was looked at by two separate garages, including a Kia main dealer. Despite all of these attempts, nobody was able to identify the exact cause of the fault because it an intermittent battery drain.
When I asked for a refund, I was told that one would not be considered unless the fault could be identified. That left me in an impossible position: the vehicle was repeatedly experiencing problems, but because no one could pinpoint the exact cause, I was left without a resolution.
In the end, I lost confidence in the car completely and had no choice but to sell it at a substantial financial loss just to move on. I expected much better customer service and support. I feel completely conned as I was sold a car with an intermittent issue which would have been there previous to purchase, and even within their warranty period they found a way out of paying.
I wish I read the reviews before going to them, very similar issues reported to BBC Watchdog also!
To your reply:
you were given several chances to fix the vehicle, over several months, and your final response was that we would have to take you to court.
Although confident we would win this, as everything you were saying was not legally correct, such as not being able to pay out until a fault was found, we did not want the case to drag for many more months on end with another financial cost.
You knew our hand was forced to sell the vehicle at a huge loss, all of this will be forwarded to bbc watchdog and hopefully they will investigate you (again)
Disgraceful company who show no care or remorse once the sale is complete

I purchased a used car from Big Motoring World around two and a half weeks ago. Unfortunately, the aftersales experience so far has been very disappointing.
The car was delivered with approximately 2.5 litres of excess oil in the engine, which triggered an excessive oil level warning shortly after collection. To get this resolved through Big Motoring World, the only option offered was to use their warranty/insurance process and an in-network garage, with the closest suitable garage being on the other side of town.
The car has since been inspected by Mercedes-Benz Nottingham, who identified further issues, including a welded front alloy wheel which they advised should be replaced, and play in both front suspension spring link ball joints. The car is still with Mercedes-Benz Nottingham and I am currently without use of it while waiting for Big Motoring World to properly respond and confirm how they intend to resolve the situation.
My impression so far is that Big Motoring World pushes everything through the warranty/insurance policy route, rather than properly engaging with Consumer Rights Act issues. That matters because warranty policies have exclusions and capped labour rates, whereas the selling dealer still has legal responsibilities for the condition of the vehicle at sale.
Communication has also been very slow. Email replies take days, and when calling aftersales, I have mainly been directed back to the warranty/insurance company rather than getting ownership of the problem from Big Motoring World.
I understand used cars can have issues, but the real test of a dealer is how they handle problems after the sale. So far, the process has been slow, reactive and lacking clear ownership.
I will update this review depending on how they resolve the matter, but based on my experience so far, the aftersales support has not met my expectations.

Warning to all, this place is not to be reccomended. Similar cars listed nearby at MUCH cheaper prices, circa 2-3k less (Main dealer too!!) and don't get me started on trade-in prices. They attempted to offer me £1500 under WBAC on an immaculate condition car. Then when attemting to justify the figure they showed me a quote from said online buying site that was less than they offered. Unknown to them I also did a a quote too to see if I would catch them trying anything stupid... Very big on the upsell, wheel and tyre cover, extended warranty, for a car still under manufactuer warranty, Gard X crap. I could go on. If you are in a position on which to only be able to purchase on finance the I suppose it's an option. But honestly, just keep away if I was you.
All in all, it's the kind of place that gives the motortrade its bad reputation.

Fairly efficient service from initial contact to driving vehicle away. Great price for the car, there was a run through of optional extras, warranty, vehicle treatments etc which we declined. Tried to convince us a second time to take extra warranty but not too hard a sell.
Staff were all friendly and efficient, even gave me a lift to local post office to tax the car. Smooth process and very satisfied. Good standard warranty of 3 months with RAC cover

I bought a 2021 Audi Q3 Sportback from Big Motoring World in January 2026.
Within six months of purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle experienced a serious gearbox fault, displayed a “Gearbox Malfunction” warning and went into limp mode. I reported the issue and arranged for the vehicle to be inspected by Audi.
Audi diagnosed a fault with the mechatronic unit and identified further issues requiring attention. The estimated repairs were significant.
The matter has now been ongoing for approximately six weeks, and I have been without my vehicle during this time. An independent inspection has also been arranged, and I am still waiting for the report and a clear resolution.
I have repeatedly explained to Big Motoring World that being without my vehicle for this length of time is having a significant impact on me and my family. I have a young family and being without our own transport for six weeks has created considerable practical difficulty and inconvenience.
I understand that investigations can take time, particularly where there is a dispute about a significant vehicle fault. However, despite repeatedly explaining the impact this situation is having on my family, I have not felt that the matter has been treated with the urgency I would reasonably expect.
I have tried to cooperate throughout the process and have provided the information requested. I am sharing my experience because, at this stage, I do not feel that I have been treated fairly or kept adequately informed about the progress of the matter.
The dispute remains unresolved at the time of writing, so I will update this review once a final outcome has been reached.

I paid GBP 11,500 for a car from this garage, trusting I was buying a reliable vehicle. Instead, it lasted a mere seven months before falling apart. Even worse, it has now come to light that the car was actively doctored before the sale to purposefully hide major mechanical faults from me. They deliberately concealed underlying problems just to take my money and hand over a ticking time bomb.
The moment they have your cash, their attitude completely changes. They ignore you, refuse to communicate, and abandon you entirely once things go wrong.
Now, just seven months later, I am facing thousands of pounds in repair bills for a car that should never have been sold in this condition. This is predatory, dishonest, and entirely unacceptable business practice. Buyers beware.

First visit was great after it was horrible, placed a deposit down & was told car would be ready on my next visit. I turned up & they didn’t have my appointment on the system. I was told to take a seat with another salesperson, he didn’t even know the car I was picking up. Taken in back office & waited for about 15 minutes, he came & tried to talk about warranty, I advised on my first visit I didn’t want any warranty & just wanted to buy the car. Seemed he was stalling because I think the car wasn’t ready for collection. The whole process put my back up, along with his attitude it made it the experience worst. Left without buying the car & will never return in the future.

This is a clear warning to anyone looking to buy a car from this company, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!
My experience from the moment I bought the car to trying to sort out repairs on the car has been a nightmare.
Even if you ignore my warnings about buying a car do not even consider getting a warranty because they will just fob you off when you need to carry out repairs on the car. This company is a joke and honestly I don't know how they are still in business. Terrible company and very unhelpful staff!

A very Happy Customer now after 5 months the car has been returned, it was 14 months old and their so called PDI checks clearly missed some very basic faults. After reporting a fault only 48hrs after collecting the vehicle, then liaising with their Customer Service team via email for weeks and weeks, it was agreed the car would be inspected, yet their Technical Professional stated based on verbal explanation this was not a fault, oh he was wrong! So Ford inspected the vehicle and found 4 serious issues, they produced a report that identified the issues and advise me not to drive the vehicle. Whilst I am arguing with Big Motor World over the issue, I was advised to contact the finance company (Black Horse) and explain, which I did and they asked to see report, within 48hrs they agreed the vehicle was unroadworthy and would take the car back with a full refund (with a little compensation), in the mean time 7 days on still no response from Big Motor World. So car returned and full refund made within 48hrs of the car being collected! Collection company advised I should do more research when buying vehicles and I would have seen Big Motoring Worlds reputation, great after the event but solid advise, hence the reason for me writing this and sharing my shocking experience. I am so glad Black Horse look at things in professional and fair way otherwise I would be stuck with a £14k car not fit for the road, with around £5k worth of faults or maybe a legal bill fighting for them to accept some responsibility, which they only did 2 days after the car had already been collected by Black Horse! The service is poor and them taking responsibility or accepting liability does not seem to exist in their business, so please be warned do your research and my advise based on my experience purchase from a main dealer, which is exactly what I have done, a little bit more expensive but as people say you pay for what you get!!!

Everything was great. I did get bored waiting for the finance agreement to be sorted but everything else was spot on. Thanks to Jacob, Ben and everyone else I spoke to from the test drive, finance and collecting the car.

I had a car transfered from a Leeds branch to cannock .which was none refundable of 129.00 based on a valuation they gave me of between 6.9995 to 8.500 when I went to see the car it was filthy. And then when they gave me a valuation of my car he gave me a valuation of 5.700 so I was not pleased at all .when I queried this he said that was a valuation from head office .and all there valuations are AI based and there was nothing he could do about it .I would never had the car transferred if I had known this and lost 129.00 I have since had an offer of 7.200 from another dealer .they were just trying to rip me off buyers beware !!! Of this company!!!

Proceed with extreme caution... better yet; avoid.
On driving our newly purchased family car off of the forecourt we realised that there was a fault so immediately took the car back into the branch. The manager, instead of taking any accountability or without any soft skills or kindness, she came out immediately on the defensive, very rude and dropping all of the buzz words repeatedly removing any sincerity from the already abrupt and agressive speel, which turned what could have been a simple fix and left us feeling immediately like we had spent our savings with the wrong people. Unfortunately, this was just a sign of things to come. They did, granted, attempt to fix the issue but were unsuccessful. We were advised this was a point of sale issue and they would need to rectify in branch, however we have now had the car for 2 months and the branch do not return our calls. Emails to big assist have been futile, with holding emails sent in reply that they are waiting for the branch to reply. Requests for a refund have repeatedly been ignored, including on the day of purchase when we noticed the fault, and again week later after they were unable to fix the fault. There have been countless failings and poor communications from the company along the way.
Our most recent update, we were sent an email from an agent at the big assist email advising that we are now with their aftercare team and all communication must go through them and not to big assist otherwisewe will be sent to the back of the queue, the agent was kind enough to provide us with the email address for said department- the big assist email *face palm*
I honestly am at a loss with the lack of accountability, poor communication and what appears to be culture of vigorous denial and lack of support to customers. Disappointing to spend savings on what should have been a reliable family car with a company who cannot simply repair a fault which they have advised they will repair, in a timely manner. Part of me worries that they are postponing until a time where they can legally say we have had the car too long or some other devious reason not to uphold their promise. There is no trust with this company. Very sad really.

The process of looking for a car was very efficient. Bailey was super helpful but once decided on a car, the purchase of it took the best part of a day as it took 4 people to do the purchase and there was a long wait between the people.... I feel the process could be made to be far slicker.

Took an appointment to sell the car and I drove all the way from Stoke-on-Trent and visited the center (WS11 1SL) to sell the car. After reaching the center, staff mentioned that selling was no longer an option, and only part exchange was available.
So update the site " mentioning that only part exchange is available, not selling." I wont recommend to my friends and family
