my money is being held hostage, withdrawals closed both for crypto and fiat

I encountered deposit issue cause I it was my first experience in the platform and it was my mistake to make a deposit without reference number, but the customer service resolve my issue within minutes.

My assets where restricted 6 months ago the value of it dropped 50% while I was unable to whitdraw any of it. I explained countless times that I need them to cover important expenses but im being told every time that they are still trying to figure the issue out. It caused me a huge loss and I explained that also to avoid further losses but still restricted

The worst experience I have ever had. Before investing, I deposited a small amount to test the systems. Buying and selling were easy but try and withdraw any money and it’s a big No No. You try and withdraw then need to verify it, then it tells you you are using a new browser, then sends a security code then asks you to log in again and the same circus goes on. I realise I have now lost my initial deposit and will not be dealing with them anymore

My girflriend wanted to withdraw her money to his bankcard (1,5m HUF - approx 4k eur. She got an error message, her bank rejected the receipt of the transfer. When contacting her bank, she was informed, that there were NO transfer trials to her card, but there was a deposit charging attempt by Bitpanda. Thanks god, she didnt have extra money on that card. She finally could reach the online chat help, but didnt get any usable reply what caused the problem. Next day she could transfer the third of the original amount, then the next third, and on the next day the last third. I find this very embarracing. Bitpanda sits on our money without giving any sufficient reply. I assume they use our money to make money on either investment rates or staking or minting, whatever. Even if you add the small amounts of all the users only in one day you can make big moneys without any efforts and risks, just reffering to bullshit technical issues and lieing to your clients. I hate what these platforms have become during the years. Crypto was invented to take over transactions from banks, now these platforms behave exactly the same way. Very very sad

Before this final mess, they had already kept my account restricted for a long time and asked me over and over again to provide documents to unblock it and allow crypto withdrawals. I sent bank statements, sent them again by email, followed their instructions, and even provided a gas bill as proof of address. Despite doing everything they asked, they still kept my account blocked. Even worse, they never gave a clear explanation of whether the restriction would actually be lifted or why the account was still blocked. It was constant delays, generic replies, and no real solution.

The third-party verification app they used was also terrible. It kept rejecting documents, failed to recognize valid documents, and at one point even the verification link they sent did not work. I had to keep chasing support just to get a new link and restart the same process again. That is not a serious or reliable system.

Then after all of that, they finally told me that crypto withdrawals had been disabled by their security department and still did not provide any real explanation beyond vague references to “security” and “local regulations.” So after making me go through all those document requests and verification steps, they still kept the restriction in place.

To recover my money, I was told to sell my crypto and withdraw fiat to my bank account. I did exactly that. And even there, I lost money because of their high fees. I had to convert USDC to EUR just to follow their process, so even while trying to recover my own funds, I ended up losing part of my money to fees. That is outrageous. I was not making a voluntary trade — I was only doing what they required in order to get my funds back.

And after that, instead of releasing the money, they kept the withdrawal pending and under review, while also refusing to send it to another bank account in my name because the original one had already been closed. So they trap you in a process where they block crypto withdrawals, force you into a fiat conversion with fees, and then still make it difficult to recover your funds. The amount was 1,687 EUR, and even for that they kept creating obstacles.

This felt abusive, opaque, and completely unacceptable. High fees, broken verification, endless document requests, blocked withdrawals, contradictory instructions, and zero transparency.

I do not recommend this platform to anyone.

I truly value companies that follow proper compliance processes, especially when it comes to preventing AML. However, what Bitpanda is doing feels excessive. They have now spent three weeks reviewing a source of funds request that seems never-ending.

I use at least three crypto exchanges, all of them European and fully compliant with EU regulations, operating with complete transparency. Across all of them, I trade crypto and convert to fiat, transferring funds to my EU bank accounts, all properly declared and fully transparent.

That said, the volume and nature of questions from Bitpanda, compared to other exchanges, makes you feel almost like a criminal.

Overall, my experience has been very negative, which is disappointing considering I initially chose them due to their competitive fees. A real shame.
