Poor product

Poor product
Had two heavy duty cordless drills that were just out of warranty that both died. I gave Black and Decker a chance to rectify the situation and there answer was one drill of there smallest size made for small home projects.

Dustbuster 'vacuum' - useless.

Bought a new hand held vacuum - Black & Decker are a long standing, decent company, so we thought.
Let me tell you how great their little vacs aren't:
The 'Dustbuster' name is pretty appropriate - it will pick up dust no problem (I
assume, because I can't actually see leftover dust remnants), anything bigger than dust particles - no chance; it just bounces tiny wood shavings around the carpet, will not pick up tiny bits of lint off the sofa, and failed dismally to suck up a strand of tobacco from the plastic car dash. It also doesn't work while charging. There's a brush attachment fixed to the end but it leaves a gap between it and the nozzle, so it doesn't actually do anything. It doesn't last very long between full charges either - which takes hours.
The previous vac was a cheap Chinese thing off Amazon, it was half the price, had 4 attachments, you could use it while it was charging, and it was brilliant for a couple of years until the motor died.
I'm giving the B&D one star because it's red, and I like red. Other than that, 'just don't bother' is my advice. What a complete waste of my hard earned cash.

Defective toaster oven

The front glass panel of my new B&D toaster oven came loose from the base and fell off. Reinserting it provided only short term relief until it fell off again. And again. And again. I just ordered a new toaster oven made by a different manufacturer. I’m through with Black &Decker products. Sad, because it used to be a quality manufacturer.

Black and Decker Party Blender SUCKS

Black and Decker Party Blender was purchased by me After 4 or 5 uses it started smoking and the motor stopped. I contacted them for a replacement or refund. I couldn't find the original receipt but I had proof of purchase. While communicating with them I was advised that the Blender was manufactured 6 YEARS AGO. Why was it even or the shelf for sale at regular price. No wonder it stopped working. It is out of date to begin with. DO NOT PURCHASE THERE PRODUCTS WITHOUT CHECKING THE MANUFACTURE DATE. They will sell anything.

Amazing customer service. Problem with new coffee maker, B& D sent out a new one without delay. Service persons were great and I cat say enough good.

Best lawn tool company EVER

Best lawn tool company EVER

I am so surprised to see such negative reviews for black and decker. I have been using B&D tools since years and never had issue. Rock solid products with good customer support.

I used a 36 volt cordless mower which last 6 years!! It was still going but I decided to upgrade. I love their 20 volts string trimmer. Light weight and get the job done. I have drills, mover, blower etc from them and no complains whatsoever!

Such a sturdy product!!!!

About three months ago my mom bought me a black and decker coffee pot for my first apartment. It was one of the less expensive pots which is why we bought it. I have used it everyday, multiple times a day and it always brews a good pot of coffee. Today, I went to slide my coffee machine to the side a bit and accidentally shoved only the pot, to which it fell about three feet off the ground. I braced for glass to shatter everywhere, HOWEVER, to my amazement the glass pot DID NOT EVEN BREAK. Not a chip or even a crack in the glass coffee pot that I so foolishly dropped on my stone tile floor! I could not believe my eyes as I diligently inspected the pot that was unfazed from the three foot drop. Thank goodness Black and Decker has such a sturdy product for weak handed people like me, or else I would have had to spend another $50 or more on a coffee pot! Blessed and thankful to drink another cup of delicious coffee tomorrow morning with a full wallet, thanks Black and Decker!

Black & Decker is a very poor choice in…

Black & Decker is a very poor choice in every way! Especially their warranty because there is no warranty! I bought a Black & Decker product found out the store would not give me my money back because it was under warranty and even though the box says it has a warranty for 30 days of purchase when you go to their website they say anything with electrical & batteries Do not have any warranty. Essentially this is a two-faced company and I will not ever buy a Black & Decker again because they are not reliable and do not do what they promised. Also menards where I bought it would not give me my money back within 30 days of my purchase because the staid I had to register my leaf blower with black & decker And then talk to them about getting my money back. Do you not buy black and decker!

Weed eater

I own a LST 420. One of the best weed eaters I have ever owned. Finding myself needing a new one I discovered that this has been discontinued. I purchased the new model and are completely dissatisfied. Why on Earth would you change something that worked as good as the original

Parts problem

I have owned many Black and Decker tools. They have been reliable and I have enjoyed using them. Two in particular have been very satisfying UNTIL I needed to replace a part. I have a GH3000 edger/trimmer. I have a huge yard that requires frequent trimming around trees and under fences as well as edging along sidewalks. After a lot of use, I found that a hole had worn through the cowling where the line strikes it. No problem, right? It is simple to replace. I’ll just order a new one. Not so fast. It showed up on several sights as “no longer available”. After my initial search and quires to providers it showed up and I was able to purchase it.

I have a GC150 garden cultivator. I received it as a gift in 2017. I love it and I use it a lot. I’m rough on tools and the auxiliary handle cracked. I searched for a replacement only to find that it was “no longer available”. I contacted Black and Decker and stated that this seems like planned obsolescence. I got a handle in the mail with no explanation. The handle began to appear on parts sites. Then disaster struck. One of the tines broke. This cultivator has two drums with four tines each. These go into the ground and agitate to loosen up weeds and dirt. Every site I checked indicated that the part was not available. The Black and Decker site just bumped me back to a sign-in page. I contacted Black and Decker a was referred to a parts supplier that took my order but never updated me. I had to inquire twice (after three weeks) to find out they don’t have the part. (A similar part for the newer battery powered model is also “no longer available”.)

According to one parts site, the handle and the tine assembly are two of the most often ordered parts.

My tools aren’t old and they work fine. I don’t want to replace them. If I am forced to, I won’t be purchasing Black and Decker.

Workmate 850 - cheap knockoff

Bought a Workmate 850 here in Crete and I'm really disappointed with it.

As supplied, one of the plastic parts that holds the jaws to the frame was very poorly moulded - insufficient plastic in the injection mould. How did this get through QC? Is there any QC at all? I can't blame the supplier as the part was inside the B&D packaging - they're trying to source a replacement part but it's currently not available in Greece!

I've got one of the original Workmates back in the UK and this really feels like a cheap knock-off in comparison. Where the original had cast aluminium parts, this version has plastic (and see above) and the pressed steel frame seems to be of much thinner steel and nowhere near as stable.

The 'one-handed-operation' seems like a good idea until you come to use it at which point the belt connecting the handles falls off the cogs.

The tilting front jaw may be of some use somewhere but, frankly, it more of a gimmick than anything else.

One of the supporting cross bars in the frame is exactly below the the jaw opening such that it prevents larger pieces being dropped into the jaws.

In the original workmate there was sufficient length of jaws extending out of the sides to clamp items resting on the floor - there's almost no overhang on this model.

I'm sorry but this is nowhere near the quality of the original workmate - If I'd known how crap it was I'd have gone for one of the cheap knock-offs and saved myself 80 Euros

Support - that's a laugh!

Hopeless support from Black and Decker - especially from Raphael Angelo P. Hernande [Support exec.] I've bought almost the complete range of battery garden tools only to find I cannot buy the strimmer without a battery and charger which already own. Won't give me a supplier of this item and also refuses to give me the director's mail address.

Non-existent aftersales customer service

I have recently had an issue with my 18v pivot hand vacuum (it just automatically shuts down after a short use) so I tried contacting B&D support by phone then by email then by phone without any responses whatsoever. They did acknowledge the receipt of my email over 3 weeks ago but haven’t replied yet … They are blaming the delays on pandemic like unfortunately many weak companies do… Very disappointing

Had a workmate in January by the end of…

Had a workmate in January by the end of February the plastic holed belt connecting the two handles had broken. I have filed a warranty claim online asking what the process is to get it repaired. I have had a generic response telling me they are busier than normal and I will be contacted?
When this is going to be heaven knows. This is just a great brand gone down hill, take your money and run attitude. Never again Black and Decker.

I would struggle to give this company…

I would struggle to give this company even one star ! Abysmal customer service , confirmed they would send a replacement battery charger - 4 weeks later no charger received and no response to my frequent emails. Have now noticed they have an 18V drill redemption scheme on their website - obviously a product fault they have known about for sometime, my drill is out of warranty and used 3 times ! Dreadful customer service and such a shame that a great brand is now so dreadful from a customer service and quality perspective !
