Blacks - Bromley Reviews 

Con: Only criticism, no acknowledgement from staff when I entered the store, had to approach a member of staff for assistance, instead of vice versa. It's customer service, I'm sure that involves assisting potential customers.
Pro: Once I approached a member of staff, his service and assistance was excellent, informative and friendly.

Great, helpful, friendly service. Rang and reserved some boots which were put aside for me. Came and collected - all very easy. Thank you

It is the second time that I had a bad experience at the store in Bromley. The staff behaved as if we were intruders, interrupting their chats. Some items had no labels, there were 2 of 3 people acting completely demotivated, they had to be asked several times for information. Then they got busy with unpacking products and there was zero friendly interacting nor pro-activity. After the 15min wait (no apologies at all) because of their delivery, the access to the backpacks we were interested in were blocked by piles of crates. Next time Decathlon again, they are always kind.

The Sales Assistant George could not have been nicer and more helpful. He had to go and get me two smaller sizes of wellington boots as they came up large and he was friendly and efficient, we even shared a joke about where I could get a shovel as my boyfriend was teasing me about my small feet, best sales interaction in a long time, George is a credit to Blacks.

We received great customer service and support from the staff when buying some hiking shoes and socks. They were attentive, friendly and helpful. We left feeling really happy with our purchase, and spending additional time chatting at the till meant I added a special offer power bank, that I wouldn't have seen had I been rushing out. I'd definitely go back based on the service and value for money.

Robin was incredibly knowledgeable and helped me pick out the right gas to use for the climate of the U.K. and time of year of my trip. Also when it came to the bagged foods, he explained the pros/cons between the options as if I was the first person to ask. He also was more than happy to run off multiple times to check for any more stock. Not sure anyone could have been anymore helpful. Cashier was also very friendly and polite. Great experience at a clean, tidy, modestly sized shop.

Visited Blacks in Bromley today and received exceptional service from Claire. She was most helpful and informative about the hiking shoes that I intended to buy. In the end I bought both hiking shoes and two pairs of trousers. Would not hesitate in recommending Blacks in Bromley.

Staff were very helpful when I was trying on walking shoes, gave me lots of options to try, and were very patient when my 2 kids kept wanting my attention. Great friendly shop and was good to try on models of shoes that I could not find in more mainstream shops.

I went to the Blacks store in St Paul’s and met the Guru named Gavin. He fitted me for new Hiking boots. I was a shoe size 6 until I had the very thorough expertise and experience of being fitted by Gavin. I am now wearing a very comfortable size 7 pair of Merrell hiking boots.

I went back to my usual store in Bromley and met Robin. More advice for my Camino trip.

Really helpful this morning

Very helpful, very friendly staff. Also helped me find better alternatives to products I was buying with good explanation.

A memorable trip to Black’s in Bromley ahead of my trip to France to walk the Camino de Santiago.
All three assistants in the shop were a great help, particularly the young man who served me and took the time to talk through every stage of my preparation, talking me through all my options and great length and earning my trust when he made it clear he wasn’t trying to upswell me. More of this please. A shop assistant who is actually interested in me and my story as a customer. A personal touch which made my time at the shop today enjoyable and not a chore as retail shopping so often is. He added a personal touch and went the extra mile to help me, even sharing a bit of his story along the way.
The only trouble is, I didn’t get his name!
He’s a Sheffield Wednesday fan who works at the Blacks in Bromley. On my receipt it says “Asst: 009:” and “Clerk: 007:”
Let him know!
And furthermore, he was patient and understanding when I decided not to buy everything on my list as I couldn’t find what I was looking for - he wasn’t pushy and he was more interested in my buying the right equipment for my trip for what they had in store on the day - not trying to trick me into buying stock that’s gathering dust.
Anyways, just a pleasure to deal with and it left me feeling a part of my local community and even more excited to start my Camino.
