Outstanding Surgical Care and…

Outstanding Surgical Care and Compassionate Team!

I can’t thank BluePearl Veterinary Hospital enough for the exceptional care they provided during my dog Milo’s recent surgery for luxating patella and ACL repair. Dr. Elizabeth Anglin and her surgical team were not only highly skilled but also incredibly compassionate. From the initial consultation to the post-surgery follow-up, they made sure both Milo and I felt comfortable and well-informed every step of the way. The level of empathy, professionalism, and thoroughness exceeded my expectations. I’m happy to share that Milo is recovering really well, and I’m truly grateful for their dedication. I would highly recommend BluePearl to anyone in need of veterinary surgical care.

STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY! They almost killed my dog. Rushed him there with full blown IMHA. They did one blood transfusion and said there was nothing more they could do. Because we refused to let them off the hook, they sent us for a 6K brain scan to see if our pup had a brain bleed just to get us off their back. The scan was negative, but the neurologist there said that a doctor from Blue Pearl left there and opened up a practice in Lakewood Ranch and some staff followed her as well. He said to take our dog there because it has a BLOOD BANK and his chances of survival were better. 2 blood transfusions later, he recovered. Blue Pearl never mentioned Lakewood Ranch Medical Center because there is animosity between the two practices. This is disgusting and reeks of Malpractice!

NEVER ON TIME-ACTS LIKE ITS NO BIG DEAL!!

This review is directed to the Blue Pearl, Johns Creek Ophthalmology Dept. Dr. Ellen Belknap is knowledgeable & she may be the very few eye specialists in the Atlanta/N GA area. Therefore, we dog parents who have no other choice really - are stuck with her. She has zero interest in how long she keeps patients waiting. I waited an hour, again for my appointment. She doesn't apologize to me. Her staff could care less. Dr. Belknap doesn't really offer encouraging tips or advice on how to cope with a nearly blind dog. She has a calm demeanor, but I can see right through her. She gives excuses to me each time I've waited 45+ minutes. She could give a respectful genuine "I'm really sorry I kept you waiting"...something. She says nothing!! She acts like it's just the way it is! Shaking my head. $1 dollar each minute she's late should be deducted from my $300 bill! We will go to UGA vet school or figure something out. This review will not change anything. She just acts like it's no big deal to keep us waiting an hour! So frustrating & wrong. bye bye.

We took our 11-month-old Husky to them

We took our 11-month-old Husky to them. We had gotten this little girl at the pound. She wouldn't keep anything down and was very sick. Basically, after spending Over $2500 she is no better and they said to bring her back and it will be another $2500 to hopefully make her better. I'm so sick of being taken advantage of I could puke myself.

Go elsewhere for dermatologist care

Dr. Springs is incredibly poor in communicating key pieces of information and action which resulted in us scrambling to get needed medication to control our puppy's symptoms. Would advise seeking specialist vet Healthcare needs elsewhere

Amazing and helpful

I trust my precious dog to their care. They have "state of the art"hospital equipment. They care and are helpful during an extremely sorrowful and tense situation. The cost of the schooling and dedication is amazing to me.

$200 for nothing

Thank God, I’ve never had to make a visit to the ER for my dog until last night and it was the worst experience. They just charge me $200 for the doctor to come and touch his stomach and say yeah he’s upset which I already knew and to give me a paper saying that he was gonna die if I didn’t do a surgery in two years because he’s a great Dane They were no help. She didn’t give me any information ot tips on what to do on what was going on with him right now, but rather the information that I needed for in two years, which was not important to me if my dog is sick right now thank God he’s doing better with my own research. Don’t trust this place.

Emergency Vet Visit

Recently one of my dogs ingested Coffee grounds and I found out they are toxic for dogs. I had reached out to my vet and they had us watch him. As he seemed not to get better we were advised to call Animal Poison Control who advised us to take him to the vet. Unfortunately, this was on a Saturday and we had to take him to the emergency vet. The only one we had in town was Blue Pearl.

We had contacted them and headed in. They where upfront and friendly and advised us that they would advise of all costs along the way before doing anything. They took him back after a short wait they came in and advised they needed to take X-rays and the cost. After we waited for over an hour and a half before they came in and advised that he was going to be ok and what we needed to do. The vet showed the x-rays and advised they were going to give him a shot and some fluids.

We waited for them to bring him out so we could check out. This is the only real issue I had because at this point we had been advised of the $160 exam fee and $300 toward x-rays, but when we checked out the cost was $900 + .

I would have paid because my dogs are life I was just a little surprised that we had gone from around $500 to over $900. It would have been nice just to be told in advance but other than that the staff was friendly and professional they had drinks and snacks to help with the long wait time.

Overall I would recommend Blue Pearl Vets if you need your animals looked after in an emergency.

Don't trust them

UPDATE: DO NOT GO HERE. THEY WILL DENY ANY WRONGDOING, AND NEVER OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKES. When my dog needed to go to the er THEY DO NOT ANSWER. When you call and leave messages and call and call again THEY WILL LIE TO COVER THEMSELVES. When your regular vet calls because your pet is dying before their very eyes THEY WILL NOT ANSWER AND THEY WILL LIE LIE LIE THAT THEY RECEIVED NO CALL. Our vet of over ten years would not EVER tell us she called if she didn't follow through. We trust her implicitly. But BluePearl? Do not ever EVER trust these people. Our dog's condition progressed severely and could have been caught much earlier if this office had simply picked up a phone to speak to our vet. We will be searching for every avenue to report this practice.

Original: I could NOT in good conscience advise you to take your pet here for oncology services. They are great while your pet is in the treatment phase, but the second our radiology course was completed we ceased to exist to them. We have had multiple tumors appear elsewhere since our dog's first treatment, and have repeatedly tried to reach BluePearl for advice and records. We have called over and over. Our regular vet has tried directly calling for records and information. BluePearl HAS NOT ANSWERED OR RETURNED A SINGLE CALL. Not to us, and not even to our veterinarian. They do not care about you at all once they have your money.

When I arrived

When I arrived, I was asked by the secretary if I wanted
to pay in treatment stages and not sign over complete control to Blue Pearl, because I am on a limited income. The Dr. specificaly told me $800 for 24hrs including, medication, suck fluid out from lung, and will do everything in his power to help my dog. 12hrs later I get a phone call saying my dog will be discharged because more money is needed. So when I arrive to pick my dog up, they demanded an additional $300 in order to release my dog. A Complete LIE! These Dr's are so kind, yet so dishonest, nothing but money hungry, they will cheat you out of your last dollar. I was warned before hand from my best friend who got the shaft from Blue Pearl as well. They know they are the only overnight Animal ER around so they take advantage.

This place is truly a house of horrors

This place is truly a house of horrors. They misdiagnosed our dog, and even when given the correct diagnosis from another vet they refused to listen! He suffered horrifically for 5 days before he died after surgery. the surgeon admitted if they had called him in 2 days earlier he could have saved him. Blue Pearl is owned my Mars candy and all they care about is MONEY, not your pet!! They even called me at 4:30 AM to demand more money or they would discontinue care. I told them I would bring the money in the morning but they insisted the payment had to be made on the phone right then or they would discontinue care. We had already given them over $10k, in the end we spend just under $20k in 5 days trying to save him. NEVER never take your fur baby to them. DrS (?) Aubry Hirsch and Jeremy Libby are personally responsible for the suffering and ultimate death of my dog. They should be out of business!

Unrealistic and deceptive

On May 6 I was sent to BluePearl pet hospital with my 14 year old Shepherd Mix after her vet discovered that she was bleeding internally. The hospital performed an ultrasound and informed me that she had a tumor on her spleen, and that the spleen would need to be removed immediately or she would not survive. Following an ultrasound I was told that the tumor looked “clean” and that they felt reasonably confident that the tumor was most likely benign. I asked multiple times if the recommended treatment was reasonable for a dog her age, and was told that they saw no reason why she wouldn’t make it through the surgery, recover, and still have several years ahead of her. So based on that information and the assumption that they knew best, we agreed to proceed with the surgery.

I was provided with an estimate outlining a low end of $11k and a max of $13k and submitted a deposit of $9k. On May 10 when I arrived to pick my dog up I was charged $17k. This was more than $4k over the max estimate that I agreed to, and at no point did the hospital contact me to approve additional charges which is the process indicated in the agreement that I signed.

On May 11 I received a call from the hospital, informing me that the biopsies came back showing that the tumor was actually malignant and that she had 6 weeks to 6 months left to live. 10 days later I had to take her in for euthanasia as she was in noticeable discomfort and showing signs of internal bleeding.

This experience has caused significant emotional distress to my entire family, not to mention the amount of debt we incurred which has caused significant financial hardship. Additionally, it was made apparent that I was given very unrealistic expectations when deciding to proceed with treatment. Upon doing a simple google search it was made apparent that there was always a very high probability of her tumor being malignant, and that even if there was no cancer, the survival rate for dogs after a splenectomy is about 52%.

We trusted the hospital to be the experts during a very emotionally distressing time, and were pressured into making a decision that ended up being based on unrealistic/deceptive information.

Horrible Experience with Blue Pearl, Find Another path forward !

A horrible experience with Blue Pearl, who charged $4500 for a single day of care yet they failed to inform us of a likely cancer in my pets system that was in the report they ran - yet failed to inform or give to us - while we were racing to treat his seizures and stabilize him. the experts Blue Pearly used didnt even read their own report; i received it from a separate pet hospital that informed us that out efforts were unlikely to help our poor dog. we ultimately had to put him down that day and stop the suffering, it was horrifying that our trust so betrayed and caused us so much grief.

Overpriced. Poor customer service.

Was charged nearly six grand for a less than three day stay that ended with the death of my parents dog. I WAS NOT contacted prior to them charging my Care Credit card, even though I am the account holder. Then I requested an itemized statement of charges and still have not received that via email. This facility is extremely overpriced and they truly should be ashamed of themselves. There are better facilities in OKC, with much more reasonable prices.

The location in Paramus NJ is the…

The location in Paramus NJ is the absolute worst place one could take their pet!!

My dog was accumulating fluid in her abdomen and i was a mess. I took her to this place and they told me that had to keep her there overnight and it was cancer and most likely she would need to be put down. I left and the following day i went to visit her. At first i was told they could not bring her out bc she had to remain in an oxygen box so i insisted i enter the back to visit her. The nurse was ridiculous and took Bella out and held her and only wanted me to visit w her while she held her. This is where i became irate and told her tonget lost and leave me with her alone. Bella had the most loving personality w everyone she saw. She dis not react that way w the nurse. I understood Bella needed to go out and the nurse told me she did not bc she took her out twice!! I brought her out anyway and this poor dog peed and took two of the largest poops she ever had!! I then immediately called the people necessary to build an oxygen box in my home bc inwas told she could not live outside of it. I picked Brlla up later that day and she never stepped a paw in the box and lived 3 healthy years after that!!!
Moral of the story is... NEVER TRUST ANYONE TO LIVE YOUR PET BC THEY DONT AND WONT!!! Be the boss of what their life shall be!! Blue pearl is a big flop!!

Negligent vets with predatory pricing

Pet parents: try to remain calm and rational during times of emergencies/stress as the emotions can get the best of you like it did to me. This is a predatory business. I regret euthanizing my very young pet for constipation. Yes, for constipation. I felt extremely pressured to euthanize my pet for constipation (megacolon) because the hospital was about to close soon, I did not have another $4-5k after already spending thousands of dollars at another vet to deobstipate my pet (they recommend bluepearl “specialty” hospital) my pet was I assume hypoglycemic (tremors/shaking), and he did not eat/drink for 5 days after the hurricane. Unfortunately, while most of the staff is excellent with the utmost compassion, the business practices aren't: either they charge you $1k to euthanize your pet or you scramble to find thousands of dollars to save your pet (hence, feeding off of your desperation/emergency). It should be illegal to charge more than $500 for euthanasia. Regardless, you are paying $$$$$$$$ just to walk into the building. Why does it cost thousands of dollars to take fecal matter out of my pet (deobstipate)? Why weren't other options offered like a bloodwork panel, imaging, giving my cat some glucose so it won't bottom out from not eating/drinking 5-6 days, alternative solutions at home like a soap suds enema or other constipation medications, etc. Because capitalism (Blue Pearl has to make $$$$) and a lack of vet practice regulations federally and state wide. Thankfully, I learned from this experience and was able to catch the symptoms early for my other pet that was constipated. I recommend UF Vet and for your pets to have Trupanion insurance or some kind of pet insurance. This was an avoidable kill, I have a lot of trauma due to how insanely predatory this business is and because this pet was my emotional support pet. I wish I would have taken the pet home with me and gone to a 3rd vet the next morning for another opinion because honestly I believe the pet was not as close to dying as I thought and I will live with the regret. The audacity to send me a sympathy card after the vet came in and she claims she only did a physical exam on my pet to then recommend euthanasia. How is this a scientifically driven vet practice, better yet how is this a *specialty* hospital? And if you say that my name didn’t come up in your records I will gladly go in person to confirm I indeed am in your records.

A Stressful, Dishonest Experience with Dr. Jackson at Blue Pearl

A Stressful, Dishonest Experience with Dr. Jackson at Blue Pearl
I recently adopted Monty, a senior rescue cat who had undergone extensive testing prior to my adoption and was under my primary vet's care for his heart and kidney issues. Concerned about his health, my vet suggested he might need surgery on his ears, so I made the 3-hour drive to Blue Pearl, believing I was seeking a critical procedure, but it turned into a nightmare of unnecessary tests and massive bills.
Dr. Jackson told me from the start that Monty would need surgery, without even conducting a CT scan to confirm it first. I trusted his expertise and paid $10,800 upfront, believing that after years of dealing with itchy and inflamed ears, Monty would finally be able to live comfortably. I thought the procedure was the only option to provide him with a better quality of life. After keeping Monty overnight—causing us both significant stress—3:30pm the next day they called to say no surgery was needed. However, I was still billed $5,714.18 for a series of unnecessary tests that only make sense if surgery were going to happen. They even labeled a simple CT scan and ear exam as surgery on paper to justify the charges.
When I questioned why these tests were done, I was spoken down to by the dermatologist and management, who offered no apology and continued to claim everything was necessary—even though it clearly wasn’t. They acted as though I should be grateful Monty wasn’t having surgery, but the fact is, I never should have been told he needed surgery in the first place. My family and I endured days of anxiety, thinking I might receive a call that Monty died on the operating table, all for no reason. As a senior cat with pre-existing heart and kidney issues, subjecting him to unnecessary tests was reckless and cruel.
When I raised my concerns with management, they refused to provide any refund. I had specifically stated that I was willing to pay for the head CT and ear consultation, yet they disregarded my concerns and insisted all these tests were required.
Dr. Jackson's only responsibility was to assess whether Monty needed ear surgery, and instead, he pressured me into a costly and distressing situation. I trusted Blue Pearl with Monty’s life, and they failed both him and me in every possible way.

This entire ordeal felt manipulative and exploitative, and I would warn any pet owner against trusting Dr. Jackson or Blue Pearl with their pet’s care. They miscommunicated, overcharged, and left us stressed and feeling taken advantage of. A CT scan was all that was necessary from the start, but instead, I was billed for countless unnecessary tests, all while being told Monty needed surgery when he never did. Save yourself and your pets time, money, and heartache—avoid Blue Pearl.
